His chief was Colonel Ramón Camps: Camps went on to head the Argentine Federal Police and was later convicted of twenty-one counts of premeditated murder, twenty-one counts of unlawful imprisonment, and twenty-eight counts of torture in a trial of military generals in 1986. He was sentenced to twenty-five years in prison but served just three years before he was, staggeringly, given a presidential pardon by Carlos Menem in 1989.
