Something didn’t feel right. Pulling into the driveway, I shut off the engine and climbed off my bike. My gut churned as I opened the front door to nothing but silence.
For some reason, I expected her to wait up for me. I anticipated her yelling at me about her staying here or maybe finding the fucking truck gone. But the old red beast was still sitting in the driveway.
Taking the stairs two at a time, I opened my bedroom door already knowing I’d find it empty. Walking a little further down, I opened my sister’s door to only see her laying in her queen size bed.
That churning feeling turned to fear as I ran back down the stairs and into the living room. I found the couch empty and continued the search. Alanna wasn’t in the house, and it confirmed the fact that she was gone. Fear began to mix with anger.
She didn’t leave in her own the truck, it was still out front. I pulled out my phone and dialed Ryan’s number.
“Reyes?” Ryan’s voice wasn’t slurred like I expected it to be.
“She’s gone,” I tell him.
“She left again?” he asked surprisingly loud and clear.
“Not on her own,” I tell him.
Fear was winning against the anger. I wasn’t used to this feeling, and it was killing me a little more with each breath I took.
“Fuck man,” Ryan growled out.
“We need to find her,” I said desperately.
“I’ll call Gunner,” Ryan tells me.
He was thinking ahead of the game. I was so lost with this gut-churning fear and desperation. I would have not thought the other club as a possibility.
Something in me was snapping. Why the fuck would they take my old lady and unborn child? The question plagued me. They were brothers, and this was how we took care of each other?
You are going to destroy their club, a little voice whispered.
I wasn’t so sure I had too until now. Now, I was going to kill them. The biggest question was how many I needed to kill and how slowly was I going to do it.
Chapter 19
Alanna
Present Day.
The stench hit me first, and bile rose up my throat burning its way to my mouth. I fought to keep it inside, but there was no use. I dropped to my knees and emptied the contents in my stomach.
“What the fuck!” Someone shouted.
Should I apologize?
“Fucking bitch,” another shouted at me.
Those stupid pregnancy hormones had tears filling my eyes.
“Clean that shit up,” someone snapped to my right, and a rag appeared in front of my face.
I didn’t dare ask for a trash can to dump the rag. Leaning forward, I grabbed the towel in my right hand and slowly open it up and move it through the liquid contents. There wasn’t much vomit, so one wipe cleaned it all up.
“I’m sorry,” I said.
And I was. I was sorry that I had to clean it up. A hand suddenly wrapped around my arm pulling me to my feet gently.
“Fucking assholes,” the man muttered.
Another man came to stand on my left as if to protect me from the rest of the room. Soon I had about five or six men surrounding me in what felt like a safe cocoon.
“I’ll take her to my room,” the one holding my arm announced.
“I get a shot with her,” a man shouted from across the room.
“I’ll take your fucking dick,” the man to my left shouted back.
“Thank you,” I tell them as they led me from the room.
“Your Reyes’ old lady?” One of them asked.
“Yes,” I lied.
I wasn’t his, and he wasn’t mine no matter what he said.
“We’ll keep you safe,” the one holding my arm said.
Looking up at him, I took in his short, light-brown hair and his amber eyes.
“What’s your name,” I asked him.
It felt important to know this, I mean they were protecting me from a hell I didn’t want to contemplate.
“Zane,” he replied with a crooked smile. Jeepers, the man. was like sex on two legs.
“Thank you, Zane,” I say tiredly.
I was exhausted between this baby and all the excitement of today. I needed to rest. Although, I felt like I still needed to stay awake. Fight it, Alanna, you aren’t completely safe here.
The door to my left opened, and Zane helped me inside.
“Get some rest. I’ll be right over here in that chair. Topher will guard the door,” he tells me while pointing at Topher.
Topher was another sexy god, but neither was as hot as Reyes. But they could give him a run for his sex god status.
Topher gave me a small smile and wave. His black hair made his blue eyes stand out. He was really cute!
“Thanks, Topher,” I tell him while turning my attention to the ones I didn’t know. “Thank you all,” I tell them sincerely.
“Reyes is going to fucking rip some heads off,” one of them mumbled as I climbed into bed.
“She’s fucking pregnant,” another announced.
I wanted to laugh at the absurdity of it all, but sleep was tugging at me and pulling me under.
“What the fuck was Sal thinking?” Zane asked the group.
“Sal doesn’t think anymore, that’s why we’re in deep with the cartel,” Topher replied.
“Reyes is going to kill us all,” another whispered.
“And we will all deserve it,” Zane said quietly.
“Not true,” I muttered, “You saved me.”
One of them laughed.
“Sweetheart, I don’t think he’ll give a shit,” another said.
“Even if you begged for our lives, it isn’t going to sway him,” Topher tells me.
They just accepted it? I couldn’t.
“No, I won’t let him,” I mumbled sleepily.
“Get some rest," Zane tells me gently.
I would save them even if it made Reyes angry. They helped me, and so I was going to help them. The sleep that I was fighting off came at me full force and pulled me into its comforting embrace. Then it was lights out for me.
Chapter 20
Gunner
Present Day.
I fucked up bad. Pulling into the clubhouse, I come face to face with both Ryan and Reyes.
“Why the fuck didn’t you call,” Reyes snapped.
“I got the intel and got the fuck out of there,” I replied.
“They got Reyes old lady,” Ryan shouted.
I turned my attention towards Reyes who was staring over my shoulder at a very angry Cassie. I shifted slightly to cover his view of her.
“They’re working with the cartel,” I tell Reyes.
“They took Alanna,” Reyes tells me coldly.
If I had stayed, I could have been able to keep her safe.
“There are a few still loyal to the patch,” I tell him, trying to put him at ease.
“You should have been there,” Ryan tells me.
He’s right, neither of them told me to come back. Ryan is my VP and Reyes is my president.
“Who the fuck is this?” Reyes cold voice turned even colder.
“I’m Cassie,” she tells him, her voice was low and terrified.
“Don’t speak to her like that,” I tell Reyes.
His dark stare returned to me, and I felt both fear and respect for the man.
“You left your post for pussy?” Ryan snapped.
“Don’t fucking speak about her like that brother,” I tell him darkly.
“Is she your old lady?” Reyes asked quietly.
“Yes,” I tell him without any hesitation, at the same time that Cassie shouted a no.
“At least you didn’t jump ship for pussy,” Ryan growled.
Anger had my fists clenching. I wanted to lay the bastard out for talking about Cassie like that.
“Get her inside now,” Reyes cold voice was like a whip.
“Let’s go,” I tell her gently.
I grabbed her hand that was clenched into a f
ist and pulled her into the clubhouse. I fully intended to take her to my room for safe keeping.
“I don’t understand what’s going on, Gunner,” Cassie asked, her voice filled with loathing.
“Shit’s about to get nasty. I needed to keep you safe,” I tell Cassie honestly, no point in lying.
“I hate you,” she tells me.
Those three words were like a stab in the gut. You knew Cassie would, a voice whispered. Didn’t make it hurt any less.
Chapter 21
Alanna
Present Day.
The people that took me were partying. Loud squeals of pleasure and drunken laughs echoed down the hallway. Zane was on his phone pacing back and forth while casting me sideways glances.
I couldn’t hear what he was saying but if his body language was anything to go by it was Reyes.
“Here,” Zane pressed the phone against my ear.
Reaching up I held it against my ear.
“Reyes?” I whispered.
“You okay, baby?” His beautiful voice responded.
“Yes! Zane, Topher, and a few others have kept me safe,” I told him honestly.
How long have I been here? I think I only slept a few hours.
“I’m coming for you, but until I get there you listen to them, okay?” His voice was low and desperate.
“Yes,” I tell him trying to put him at ease, even if I felt like I was falling apart on the inside.
“I’m so sorry, baby,” he tells me, his voice was filled with sadness.
“It’s okay,” I tell him.
I didn’t like the fact that he was upset anymore then I liked my situation. Did I forgive him? It wasn’t that easy, and it wasn’t that complicated.
“When will you be here?” I asked him as some of the desperation was leaking into my voice.
“I’m almost there, baby,” he tells me quietly.
It was almost over.
“I’ll see you soon,” I tell him firmly.
“I need to talk to Zane,” Reyes replied.
I know they were going to work out a plan, but I didn’t want to give the phone back. I wanted to hear Reyes voice a little longer.
“Okay,” I whispered to him.
Holding out the phone, Zane returned to my side and took it. It was sweet of him to give me what little privacy he could.
“I’ll have Topher at the door… come in the back… see you soon,” Zane ended the call and sat down in the chair.
“When it’s time, I need you to be quiet and quick. Can you do that?” He asked me.
“Yes,” I tell him, the sarcasm was dripping from my voice.
“Smartass,” he replied with a laugh.
“I need to get you outside to him before shit goes down,” Zane tells me.
I was ready. My shoes were tied, and I was sitting on the edge of the bed ready to run at any moment’s notice. To Zane’s amusement, he wisely didn’t point it out.
Chapter 22
Reyes
Present Day.
I was in the truck, but I wanted to be riding my bike. I knew Alanna couldn’t ride, so for her and the baby’s safety, I was in my truck.
I thought about taking her old man’s truck, but that old beast was loud as fuck. Gunner was in the van, and I planned on taking a few of them home with us for some information.
The clubhouse was lite up, and loud music pumped out into the parking lot. The fuckers were in there partying.
“Call him, tell him we’re here,” I tell Ryan.
Turning, I looked at Gunner, “Watch the front,” I glared at him, “Think you can do that?” I growled.
He looked pissed but nodded his head in compliance.
“They want us around back,” Ryan tells me, pointing in the direction we needed to go like I had no clue. We’ve been here thousands of times.
Shaking my head at the man’s stupidity, I walked around him and headed swiftly in that direction. I needed to feel her close to me, to know she was safe. Then I was going to kill ever motherfucker involved.
Topher stood with the door open waving someone forward. I watched as Zane came through followed by Alanna.
Rushing to her side, I cupped her face in my hands and pressed my lips against hers. I gently lingered for a moment before pulling back and pressing my lips against her forehead.
“I’ve got you, baby,” I tell her, my lips lingered on her soft skin.
“I’m okay,” she tells me quietly.
“Did anyone touch you?” I demanded.
“No,” she whispered.
“I’ll still love you, baby, no matter what,” I tell her gently.
Her quick inhale of breath was followed by her arms wrapping around me. She pulled me in close and her small baby bump pressed against my cock.
“We need to move,” Zane informed me.
I know he’s right, but I didn’t want to let her go. Pulling back, I handed her over to Ryan.
“Take her to the truck, watch her,” I tell him.
“Reyes…” Alanna begged.
“No, I need you to listen to me baby,” I tell her firmly.
She doesn’t say anything, but I could see she wanted to fight me on it. I watched as Ryan softly tugged her in his direction and she went with him stiffly.
“Let’s go,” Topher said.
“They’re all in the main room fucking and drinking,” Zane informed me.
“I sent a few of the brothers in to lead a few that I know you want away,” Zane tells me.
I smiled I always like these two, and they’re proving why.
“Good and Sal?” I asked.
I needed that fucker alive.
“Slipped some sleep aid into his beer, fucker stumbled to his room thirty minutes ago,” Topher said with a laugh.
“You’ll need to stay behind and clean up the mess,” I tell them both.
They nodded their heads and headed back into the clubhouse. Shit was about to go south real fast, not for me, but those bastards in there.
“How many brothers you got on our side?” I asked Zane.
“Five,” he tells me.
Not that many. That left eight men to die.
“Fuck!” I hated this part of the job.
Pulling my gun, I made my way into the main room. Men were sprawled all over the place. Some women were in their laps while some were fucking playing with pussy.
Lifting my gun, I shot the closest to me, drawing everyone else’s attention. Bitches screamed and scrambled for cover as we open fire on the brothers littering the room. Each of our shots was precise.
“I want a few alive,” I reminded them.
“Zane, shoot to wound,” I tell him as I made my way through the dead. I then gave the signal to collect the wounded.
Kicking Mac with my foot, I smiled when he groaned. All of them had been too drunk and slow to pull a gun.
“Put them in the van,” I tell the boys as I walked from the room. Tonight was far from over, but my old lady needed me now.
Chapter 23
Alanna
Present Day.
He said the four-letter word. The one I’ve dreamt about as well as dreaded. Something warm filled my chest, and something cold filled my stomach.
I’ve both feared this and wished for it. Sitting in Reyes’ truck, the one he barely ever drove, I clenched and unclenched my hands. Today had been a shit storm of epic proportions.
How long has it been since Ryan deposited me in the passenger seat? He stood outside the truck like a stone gargoyle not moving from his post. Did he even blink?
Shivers racked my body from the adrenaline draining my body and the cold air. Could I start the truck? The keys dangled from the ignition but was that against the rules? The ones that went with killing people. Was it like don’t make a sound? Should the getaway car be ready but not on?
Turning I looked in the back seat and found it empty. What, no blanket? What about being prepared for the worst?
The door to the truck o
pened quickly earning a startled gasp to escape my parted lips. Reyes climbed in with no blood on his body. Didn’t he kill them?
“Let’s get you home,” he tells me gently as he leaned over and pressed his lips slowly against mine.
Another shiver had me shaking.
“Shit baby, you cold?” He asked as his voice filled with concern.
“Yes,” I tell him through clattering teeth.
I watch in amazement as he pulled off his leather cut, then his long-sleeved shirt.
“Arms up,” he demanded.
Slowly lifting my stiff arms, I raised them as far as the truck would allow. Reyes shirt was over my head and the sleeves down my arms before I could blink.
“Is the baby okay?” He asked me in a very quiet voice.
“We’re okay,” I reassured him.
His sigh of relief had my chest aching.
“I’m taking you home to our house, Alanna,” he tells me firmly.
Nodding, I sat back letting my back press firmly against the plush seat. Closing my eyes, I drifted off as the comfort of being safe settled around me.
Something was rocking me. I cracked open an eye to look around and realize I was moving. Gasping I wrapped my arms around Reyes’ neck.
“Sshh, baby, I’ve got you,” he reassured me.
Slowly, I relaxed against Reyes and let him carry me into the house. Up the stairs and into his bedroom where he lowered me on the bed.
“I’ll start you a bath,” he said as his lips pressed against my forehead.
I watched his retreating back as he enters the bathroom only to emerge a few minutes later.
“Let me help you,” he said quietly, bending down before going on his knees. He slowly removed his shirt then mine before going to my jeans.
When I was finally naked, I waited for him to make a move, but instead, he ran his fingers over my swelling stomach. He then picked me up and carried me into the bathroom.
My eyes closed as his skin made contact with mine. His naked chest pressed heatedly against my bare body. When he lowered me to the floor, he once again cupped my face giving me another sweet kiss.
“Get in and take your time to relax baby,” he tells me, kissing me with a toe-curling kiss.
