Logan_Denver Royalty [Book 1] Page 15

by Sheridan Anne

His whole family sits above us in the grandstand and it’s great to see them here, not that I’ll have a chance to really say hi tonight but over the past few weeks I’ve been able to get to know them a bit better and I feel as though I’ve slotted straight in. Which kind of makes me regret not getting to know Cass during college, I hadn’t even known Bri went there which just tells me how self-absorbed I’ve been over the past few years.

My whole outlook on life has completely changed since getting to know Logan. There’s no other way to explain it but to say that he has pretty much freed me from myself. I had told him a few weeks ago that I was falling in love with him but after the past few weeks together, there’s no doubt in my mind that I’m already there. I am one-hundred percent, madly and truly in love with the big boofhead and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

We’re only a few minutes into the game and it has completely drawn me in. The guys are on fire. It’s fast-paced and scary as hell at the same time. Logan instantly stole the show as he scooped the puck up and showed me the exact reason why he has been captain of this team for so long.

The guys instantly fell in with him. Some of them moved around him and went on the defense, others skated up beside him, ready for if he needed to pass the puck but that’s not what really caught my eye.

What has the drool running down my chin is the way he moves across the ice. His eyes are sharp as if he knows where each and every player is on the ice at all times. He’s fast, strong and deadly. I’ve never been so turned on in my life.

I also didn’t expect it to be so damn loud in here. I swear, I must be the only person on this planet who had no idea what to expect out of this game tonight but I am so freaking happy to be here.

I pull my shit together and force myself to concentrate on the players rather than the sexy beast dominating the ice. I need to be on my game tonight, ready and prepared if there are any injuries I need to get my hands on.

I met out new senior therapist, Kate, yesterday and I swear, she must be the most annoying person I have ever met, all she wants to do is chat, which, yes, it’s nice to chat every now and then but all freaking day long was just too much, she’s nice and all but all I wanted to do was get my work done then get home to screw the brains out of my sexy as hell boyfriend.

Fuck. Boyfriend. I still can’t get used to calling him that but I’m so damn happy he is. He is absolutely amazing.

Shit. Concentrate on the stupid game.

I watch the guys moving up and down the ice as fast as lightning. From what I can tell, which is not much, the Denver Thunder looks as though they’re much stronger than the other team.

They’re only ten minutes in and have had possession of the puck for the majority of the game, have already scored a goal and have come very close to scoring another while maybe a few too many of the opposition have been body slammed into the boards… so, I don’t envy their therapist right now.

My phone starts ringing in my pocket and I quickly pull it out to check who’s calling. Shit. It’s the rehab facility. They only ever call in an emergency. I quickly duck out of the box and into the hallway. It’s still way too freaking loud but it will have to do.

“Hello?” I practically yell into the phone while using my other hand to try and block out some of the noise.

“Elle, it’s Dr. Ellis here,” he says. “Look, I uh… don’t know where to start but ah, do you happen to be with your brother?”

“Um… what?” I ask in complete confusion.

“He isn’t in his room, so we were wondering if you took him out for the day?” he questions.

“No,” I grunt. “You’ve lost my brother?”

I hear the cringe in his voice. “Well… yes, it appears that way,” he tells me regretfully.

My anxiety instantly spikes and I promptly begin freaking out. “He isn’t in the bathroom? You know sometimes he takes a while in there.”

Shit. This is not a good time for that little dim wit to go missing.

“No, we’ve checked the whole facility. We thought we’d check with you before we started looking into the surveillance and get the authorities involved.”

“Crap. Ok. Let me give him a call and see if I can find him.”

“Sure, let us know how you go,” he says before hanging up.

I instantly bring up my brother’s number and impatiently wait as the phone rings out. “Answer your phone, you little turd,” I say to his voicemail before calling again.

He picks up the call and a very small part of me relaxes. “Hey, sis. What’s going on?” he asks in a way too cheery tone.

“Where the hell are you?” I ask, skipping straight past the pleasantries.

“I’m closer than you think,” he says, making me want to strangle him.

“Brendan. I’m not in the mood for playing games. Where the hell are you?” I demand.

“Jesus, woman. Calm down. I’m at the game,” he laughs. “Your boyfriend is pretty good by the way.”

“What?” I yell before running out of the hallway and back into the stadium. My eyes instantly lift to the V.I.P section to find my brother grinning down at me with a goofy-as-fuck expression on his face. “You little turd. How the hell did you get here?”

“Logan broke me out. Take it up with him,” he says before grinning at me again and making a dramatic show of hanging up the call.

  God, that little twat.

I duck back into the hallway and press redial on Dr. Ellis’ number.

“Elle, tell me you’ve got some good news for me,” he says.

“Yes, I’ve found him,” I sigh. “I’ll have him back in a few hours.”

  “Good. We’ll see you soon.”

“Thanks,” I say before hanging up the call.

I pocket my phone and walk back out to my position in the player’s box with the biggest scowl on my face. I want nothing more than to get on that ice and drag Logan right off by his ear but that probably isn’t the best idea right now, so his scolding is going to have to wait until the end of the game.

I cross my arms over my chest and somehow manage to keep my eyes on the game. I watch as Logan darts up and down the ice and absolutely dominates it. Watching him turns the flames within me into tiny little puddles of joy which only manages to piss me off more. God, why does this man have to have such an effect on me? It’s driving me insane.

I look up at Brendan and see nothing but excitement on his dorky little face as his eyes struggle to keep up with the fast-paced game and I realise he is completely in his element. This is where he wants to be and I know deep down it’s killing him that he can’t be on that ice right now. Probably doesn’t help that I’m flaunting Logan around, it’s most likely a constant reminder of what he can’t have.

But I know, one day he’s going to be back up on his feet and he will get back on the ice and be able to skate. It will be over my dead body that I will ever let him play a risky game like hockey ever again but at least he’ll be able to feel the ice under his blades again.

“Fuck,” Coach Robinson curses as the rest of the players get to their feet and start screaming out. The crowd burst into outrage and I find my eyes flying back to the ice to see what I’ve missed.

Crap. Logan is pinned up against the boards by a man who must be at least one hundred feet tall and weighs a ton. The Thunder players on the ice instantly scramble to get to him.

“Come on, Logan,” Tony curses from beside me as Logan pushes the guy to get him off him. The guy stumbles back and drops Logan back to his feet. He grabs Logan before he has a chance to defend himself and slams him back to the boards and brings his knee up and nails Logan’s inner thigh, right where his torn muscle was nearly finished healing.

My boys rush in and rip the guy off him which causes Logan to drop to the ice in pain. Jax swoops in and grabs him off the ice while the ref comes in and starts saying a whole lot of shit I don’t understand but at least the big guy gets sent off the ice. I could be wrong, but I’m pretty
sure they call it being in the sin-bin.

Logan comes over to the side with Jax right by his side and pretty much, the rest of the team. His eyes meet mine and he gives me one of those panty-dropping winks, letting me know he’s ok but I can tell by the look on his face that he is in a world of pain.

“What the fuck was that?” Coach Robinson demands, stealing his attention.

“The fuckers had it out for me since the start of the game,” Logan says.

“I know,” Coach scowls. “Right, get off and let Elle check you out.”

“I’m fine,” Logan says. “I can keep going.”

  Bullshit.

“I don’t give a shit. You’re out until Elle can assess the damage. I need to know if that bastard has just ruined the rest of your season.”

Logan reluctantly steps off the ice and it’s clear he’s a million kinds of pissed off right now. He rips off his gloves and helmet and dumps them on the bench before following me out of the box and down the hallway. I don’t miss the limp in his step but I keep my mouth shut until I can get a good look at it.

We step into my office and Logan keeps the door open, probably so he can still listen to the game. He sits at my desk and instantly starts un-lacing his skates. He kicks them off and makes quick work of the rest of his gear before making his way to the massage table.

“You ok?” I ask as he leans against the table and turns to face me.

Logan reaches for me and pulls me into his arms. He rests his head on mine and lets out a breath. “Yeah,” he says with disappointed heavy in his voice.

I know he’s not but I let it go, he clearly doesn’t want to talk about it just yet. “Come on,” I say as I push him back to the table. “Let’s see if you can get back on the ice.”

He does as he’s told and I get to work. I oil up my hands and press them down into his muscle. He instantly cringes but that could either be bruising from getting hit or from his previous injury. “What’s the pain like?” I question.

“It hurts but not as bad as when I first did it,” he explains.

I nod as I continue to work. “So, there’s a very excited moron in a wheelchair sitting up in the stands,” I mention as I rub deeper into his leg.

“Yeah, I saw that,” he says, playing dumb.

“Logan,” I groan. “You kidnapped my brother.”

  “Yeah,” he laughs.

“Thank you,” I say. “It means the world to him to be here.”

Logan’s arm snakes out and grabs me around the waist. He pulls me to him and sits up to meet me. He presses his lips to mine. “Anytime, babe.”

I kiss him back before pushing him back to the table. I look down at his leg and notice a big red mark appearing from the blow, only the loser missed the mark and hit him about an inch too low.

I rub into the muscle a little more and deem Logan safe from harm, though, his muscle is definitely tense after skating so hard during the game. I lightly press into the red mark on his thigh. “It’s just bruising here. You’ll be fine but you should take it easy. You’re putting too much strain on the muscle.”

  “I can skate?” he questions.

“Wait until the next period and spend the break stretching but yes, if you do that and back off a tiny bit, you should be fine unless that dick-wad decides to take another shot at you.”

“He’d be a fool to try that shit again,” Logan says as he gets up and starts pulling on all his gear again. The crowd roars and starts chanting the Thunders war-cry letting us know they’ve scored another goal. Logan grins at me with a boyish charm in his excited eyes and I can’t help but grin back.

“You didn’t hit him back?” I question.

Logan takes my hand and leads me back down the hallway. “No. I play clean. I don’t get off on beating the shit out of dickheads like that.”

“Why did he do it? Do you know him?”

“No, but there’s always one in every team. I’m the biggest threat so they think if they can take me out, they’ll have a better chance at taking the win but it never works, my boys are just as good and know how to pick up the slack when I’m out. That’s why we’re the current defending champions,” he explains.

I roll my eyes as we step back into the arena. “Proud much?” I tease.

“Damn straight, babe,” he laughs as he steps back into the box and gives Coach Robinson the verdict, though, I notice he skips the part about backing off and I realise I’ll be spending my night at Logan’s place trying to loosen his muscle.

The game goes on and true to his word, Logan stays off the ice until the next period.

The game comes to an end with my boys remaining the defending champions and the noise in the arena is incredible. I’ve never witnessed anything like it but I know for a fact, that this is where I want to be and I have absolutely no plans to change that.

The atmosphere in the place is something I’ll never grow tired of and the fact that I also have Logan here, making it that much better is just the cherry on top.

The boys disappear into the locker room and I head into my office to fill in all my paperwork. I get straight into it and find myself lost in my work when Logan knocks at the door. “Come on,” he says. “I’m taking you home.”

“I don’t think so,” I laugh as I turn to face him. “You need to take my brother home and explain to them where the hell he has been.”

He walks straight into my office and scoops me up out of my chair. “He’s already in the hallway, ready to go.”

I look up at Logan and fall in love with him all over again. “Kiss me,” I demand.

“My pleasure,” he murmurs before pressing his lips to mine.

“What’s taking so lo…. Ugh,” Brendan whines from the door of my office. “Dude, get off my sister.”

I grin against Logan’s lips and he reluctantly pulls back. I grab my bag and soon find myself curled up in the warmth of Logan’s truck, driving Brendan back to the rehab facility.

Logan helps break him back into his room while I apologise to as many nurses and staff as possible, explaining what my moronic boyfriend had done but, in the end, Brendan had a great time and I couldn’t have asked for anything more.

Half-an-hour later, Logan and I are wrapped in his sheets and just as I thought, I’m busy trying to relax his muscle while fighting off hands that keep grabbing my ass. “Wait,” I laugh.

“Nope,” he demands as he grabs me and throws me down to the mattress. His hand slides down my body and into my underwear. My body instantly comes alive with his touch and I can’t believe what a little hussy I’ve turned into over the past few weeks. I simply just can’t get enough of this man.

My panties somehow find themselves being kicked off before my legs are wrapped about his waist. He pushes into me and completely fills me before giving me everything he’s got.

  Fuck, I love this man.

He pushes me right to edge until we’re both finding that release we’ve been craving.

  Chapter 19

  Logan

What a beautiful fucking day for a wedding.

Just like Sean and Sara’s wedding, Cass and Jax have hijacked my parent’s estate to hold their wedding and once again, I wouldn’t have it any other way. This place is perfect and not-to-mention, it’s the place we all feel closest to my parents, so it makes sense. I wouldn’t be surprised if me and Carter also get married here one day.

The whole process of decoration and table settings started two days ago and its pretty damn clear this is going to be one hell of a grand wedding. The place is completely decked out, even more so than what Sara turned the place into, which honestly, I’m surprised, Cass usually goes for simplicity so maybe this is all Jax’s doing. Ever since they were kids, he has wanted nothing more than to give her the world and this just proves that.

I do my best to keep out of the way of the hundreds of people coming and putting it all together. I mean, this place is a fucking madhouse. It’s ridiculous. I just want to fast forward to the actual
wedding rather than suffer through all the other bullshit that comes with it.

I stand amongst my brothers, Jax and his best friend Bobby on the second level of the estate. Music is blaring and drinks are already being handed around. We get dressed up in our matching suits and look like a bunch of dickheads. I take a look at us all and can’t help but think mum would be loving this if she were here right now, she’d be running around with her camera, straightening our ties and pinching our damn cheeks.

  Fuck, I miss her.

I can’t believe she isn’t here to see her little girl get married.

The thought has me drifting out the door and up the stairs to the massive top floor. I knock on the door and hear my beautiful sister calling out from within. “Who is it?” she demands.

  “It’s me, fatty. Open up.”

The door opens and I find myself looking down at the most beautiful woman in the world. I wrap my arms around her and pull her into me. “That’s not a nice way to talk to your sister,” Elle scolds as she tips her head up to kiss me.

I run my hands down the soft silk, golden floor length bridesmaid dress that wraps around her body. I’m still so proud of my sister asking Elle to be one of her bridesmaids, I think she realised that Elle is going to be a part of our lives until the end of time and wanted her to be a part of her special day, which for me, only makes today that much better. Not-to-mention, I’ll get to dance with her rather than some other bridesmaid.

I push her back gently so I can fully take her in. I run my finger along the tiny little shoestring strap that holds up her dress and follow it down to the sexy-as-fuck plunge that shows off her cleavage.

I push the strap off her shoulder and she quickly rushes to pull it back in place. “Stop that,” she scolds.

“I can’t wait to get this off you,” I murmur as I press my lips to her neck.
