The Diary of a Natural Girl in a Supernatural World

“We should have run while we had the chance.” I whispered to Jade.
“I’m a dragon. I would have caught you.” I think if I would have been looking at him I would have noticed an eye roll…
That thought caused me to jump up and face the dragon in question. I didn’t think his intention was to kill us and I could use my super awesome powers if he tried… I hoped.
“We’re just some dumb kids who thought it would be a good idea to investigate this place…” Jade told him kinda saving my ass.
He gave us that ‘yeah right look’ and I decided what the hell… So I took a chance.
“We know about Vlad and we knew there’s a deal, that you… and the dead guy over there were key players.” I glared at him.
He probably should have scared me more than he did… I blame my teenage stupidity for that one.
“We’re not anymore.” He huffed, “Thanks to you our cover was blown. Now Anders is dead.” I wasn’t sure what he was insinuating but it couldn’t be anything good.
“Uh, you were acting shady on your own. Don’t go blaming me.”
“I can’t go home because of you!” he paused. “It doesn’t matter. This is over.” He gestured to the scene behind him. I guess I miss judged him in the beginning.
“And why not? There’s no rule against you going home.” I raised an eyebrow at him. What was he, burned?
“Because I failed.” His expression grew hard. “And they want to kill me for giving up San Antonio…”
“Uh guys…” Jade interrupted. “We should probably go…”
“You haven’t failed.” I decided for him, “Come with us.” Why did I trust random a stranger? I have no idea. Stupid impulsiveness.
Rafe looked at me oddly trying to decide what to do. Hell, I’m not sure I would know what to do in his position either. It was shady of me to offer to help him.
“Don’t worry,” I smiled smugly at him, “We’re going to save the world.”
“So what’s the deal with these cities again?” Jade asked ruining the whole vibe I had going.
Oh well. There would always be a next time.
Chapter 21: We’re Really Bad at Planning
Sept 28th 2012
12:01 pm
I found an illusionist. Someone to make Seth and I look like Niklas’s parents or something like that. It’s basically a trick, an illusion. I guess that’s why they call them illusionists. They like to make you see things that aren’t really there. Or in this case they modify us and our voices and all that.
We’re totally pretending to be them, Seth and I, which is probably the worst idea ever. We hardly know what they’re like but I mean how hard can it be? We just have to be evil and ruthless, right?
Oh no, I just signed my death warrant haven’t I?
I mean illusionists aren’t really used to putting illusions on other people are they? You know, they usually use illusions to conceal themselves… Make them look like someone else so they can hide in plain sight.
But this… this is a bad idea. Why did I suggest it again?
Oh yeah, it seemed better than the alternative. Which, I guess is because it doesn’t mean eternal damnation… Or at least I don’t think it does, does it?
Whatever, too late to back out now.
Wish me luck!
1:04am
Rafe gave us some pretty useful information. It turns out he’s not all that bad after all. Just pretending to be someone he’s not… kind of like me.
I guess Niklas’ parents wanted to take over the human race and in order to do that they had to take the major cities in each state. So they set key players in each city. Rafe was originally one of those key players and was feeding information to the good guys… whoever they were.
But despite the information it did not go how I planned. I probably should have seen that coming but since I can’t actually see the future well…
So here’s how it went down…
Rafe informed us that he had set up a meeting with all the key players and that Seth and I would need to inform them that they were compromised and needed to halt the plan we would get out before they asked too many questions.
I mean I guess that was easier said than done… obviously.
One of the guys owns a Marriot in the city allowed us to use the event room to hold our meeting. I guess they’re more important people than I thought.
I don’t really know what I was expecting but it certainly was not what I got. I felt like it was a press conference and that Seth and I were trapped on stage the second we set foot up into the room to address the bad guys of their bad news.
“Good evening.” I addressed the audience.
“We will just get right to the point.” Seth stepped in, “We have been compromised.”
There was nothing. No response. Mostly just crickets. Maybe they were frozen in place or something… Time? I have no idea.
“We have been compromised which means we have to put this mission on hold. We are working on a solution as we speak.” I smirked a little, that’s what she would do, right?
“What about our cites? We have put so much preparation into them. The humans unknowingly have segregated themselves…” One of the audience members asked.
“That preparation will not go to waste; it will just be put on hold.” I said hopefully elusively enough.
“Why can’t we just take our cities now, enslave our humans?” another one of the audience asked.
“You will not make a move unless I approve it!” I cried. “This is coming from above me.” I glared at the audience.
Lilly must really have some sway because they were shaking in their boots.
But before we could continue the doors crashed open and in walked none other than Niklas’s parents. We were totally screwed. It sucked so hard.
“Who started this party without us?” Lilly asked with a smirk.
I was ready to take off, sprint my little legs off, run like there’s no tomorrow but Seth grabbed my elbow before I could make a move.
“Don’t run.” He whispered.
I thought I was the mind reader here!
“Who are these imposters?” Seth asked with a glare.
Lilly laughed. “Imposters, that is rich. I know exactly who you are and so should everyone else here. Your glamor will not work on me.”
“This meeting was called because you could not keep control of your cities.” I glared at the audience. “And these two imposters are here to take over, to take it from you.”
Niklas’s father tilted his head to the left, “We already have it.”
Every head in the room turned back to us, Seth and me watching for a rebuttal but I didn’t know what say, all I wanted to do was run.
“Ah, but you’re missing one key factor,” Seth pointed out, “You don’t have all of your key players, in fact, some of the people in this room aren’t on your side.”
“And whose side would they be on?” Lilly asked.
She was really freaking me out because it was like she knew that we were going to expose ourselves, that we would get it out in the open that we were exactly who they thought we were, the real imposters.
“Ours.” Seth replied and broke the illusion causing us to look like her and her husband.
Everything was quiet for a second before all hell broke loose. People began accusing one another of being traitors while others simply got up and left. It was definitely not what I expected because I totally thought I would be dead by now.
Guess I’m lucky or something. k`1`2
“Can we run now?” I whisper yelled.
“Yes.” Seth replied and we took off running.
I really don’t think that anyone was expecting that because we somehow magically made it around the corner and I almost ran straight into Rafe.
“ABORT ABOOOORRRTTT!!” I yelled as I sprinted passed him.
“We’ve been compromised!” Seth clarified.
Rafe followed us through the hotel until
we got out the doors; he grabbed a hold of my left hand and drew me into his chest which would be romantic (maybe) if there weren’t a bunch of angry supernatural chasing us. He then put a hand on Seth’s shoulder effectively stopping us.
“What the hell are you doing?!” I cried. He was totally acting like a bad guy, like he was about to throw us to the wolves.
“Just trust me.” He said.
The world around me disappeared only to reappear moments later inside a familiar place. I realized that he had taken us somewhere outside of Seth’s house and that we would have to walk the rest of the way.
“Dragons can teleport?!” I practically yelled, a terrible idea by the way.
“Something like that.” He shrugged at me.
I took a deep breath. “So… what do we do now?”
“Plan B.” Seth cringed slightly. But I think that is the best we could do after everything that had happened.
It was kind of a crap shoot and we were stuck in the middle of it. Somehow I knew that this was not going to end the way I wanted it to. Not at all.
Chapter 22: Deals are annoying
Sept 29th 2012
3:13am
By the time we got back to Seth’s house I was thoroughly tired out and went straight to bed, probably from all that sprinting and freaking out.
I fell asleep for only a few hours, just long enough for me to fall into a dream. It seemed familiar somehow. There was a large dining room with a dark wood table and a crystal chandelier hanging above it.
I didn’t notice much else because a woman walked in.
“Hello Dia.” She said slyly and it was then that I knew who I was dealing with.
“Hello… You’re Niklas’s mother.” I replied cautiously.
“Very good. And you are Niklas’s friend. The telepath.” She smirked.
“Uh… not really.” I gulped. Where was she going with this? And how had she got here in the first place?
“You’re the puppet master.” She commented idly pretending like she knew everything but I knew there was no way she could know it all.
“Why are you here?” I narrowed my eyes at her. The lights started to dim.
“Oh, you don’t like that do you.” She laughed and it sent a chill down my spine. Creepy ass woman.
“You never answered my question.” I shot back.
“I am here to set up a meeting. You have something I want and I have something you want.” She was playing the same old villain card (annoying, really.)
“And what is it do you want?” I was skeptical. This thing could go south very, very fast.
“There are many things I want, my son back, being one of them.” It was her turn to narrow her eyes at me. I was somewhat caught off guard at her response.
“I never told him to leave you in the first place. He did so by himself. It probably had something to do with your plot to enslave the human race.” I took a step back, trying to get away from this psycho lady.
“It’s not enslavement really think of it more like… herding cattle. We’re just taking back what should be ours.” She was way too nonchalant for my liking.
“It was never yours. Why should you get it now?” I took a half step back.
“We’re the superior race. Why shouldn’t we? You don’t stand a chance against us anymore.” I snorted at her elitist point of view.
“How are you going to do it? I mean there is one way you and your little groupies can do it by yourselves.” I stalled.
“You’re stalling.” She pointed out blankly. “Were here to set a deal. Meet me at 1am in 3 days. Seth will know the place. And bring my son.” She started to fade from my vision.
“But what if he doesn’t?!” I yelled at her retreating form but was met with laughter.
Everything went black and I woke with a start.
“Freaking… UGH!” I yelled. I was mad that I had been pushed around, shoved into a corner without getting any information at all from her.
I threw the sheets off me and stormed into Seth’s room for some answers. He was reading some book at his desk. Demons don’t sleep much. It probably has something to do with the fact that sleep is for people with souls.
“She contacted me.” I crossed my arms over my chest.
“She?” He continued reading his book. It was slightly annoying to say the least.
“Yes she, Lilly she!” I threw my hands up frustrated. “There was no need to tail her today because she contacted me. We wasted time that we could have used making a plan!” I threw my arms down and balled my hands into fists.
“So?” He lifted his head from the book at least. Why was he not concerned about it? Why are demons so annoying?!
“SO?! She wants to meet! She wants to meet in three freaking days! And she said you’d know where!” Ok, so I was panicking a little but I guess that’s what happens when you get dream raped.
“I should have known she’d say that.” He wasn’t surprised. Why the hell did he agree to follow her if he already knew what was going to happen?
I took a deep breath. “Where are we meeting?” I had calmed down as much as I would which really isn’t a whole lot.
He didn’t respond so I continued.
“So she wants to make a deal… and she wants us to bring Niklas.” I paused, thinking about the whole situation. Something wasn’t right but whatever it was wasn’t clicking.
“It appears so.” He went back to his book.
“This isn’t going to end well for anyone is it?” I gulped and looked at Seth.
When he looked at me I could tell that he thought the same thing I did. But silence was all that remained. So I went back to my bedroom to lie on my bed knowing that I wouldn’t be sleeping.
5:54pm
I don’t have much time. We’re about to go off to make the deal and I am scared as hell. I know there is a lot riding on this but the thing that scares me the most is that we haven’t thought this all the way through, that I haven’t tried to figure out if Lilly has an ulterior motives.
It is just now occurring to me that I should have gotten in her head. I should have searched her mind to see if she was planning something. I probably could have gotten most of our answers without even having to follow anyone.
I have a gut feeling that something bad is going to happen. Something worse than this deal. I bet its Seth trying to psyche me out because he is a butt like that.
It’s strange but I almost feel like I wouldn’t have been able to get through her mind even if I tried. Seth thinks otherwise. For a demon he sure is an optimist.
Niklas, that ass hole, decided that now would be a good time to run off and do whatever it is that he’s doing. Like the world revolves around him. Which is doesn’t because it revolves around me.
Just kidding.
But seriously, I’m a little more than annoyed that Niklas isn’t here right now and Seth won’t tell me where he is which is even more annoying.
Ever since I did my not so Vulcan mind meld with him he’d been disappearing. I mean he did it a lot at school but we weren’t at school and I’m pretty sure failure here meant a lot more than failing a class. And I can’t really magic him out of the mystic beyond either.
“Seth?” I asked the demon earlier that day. He was sitting at the kitchen table drinking something or another and reading… something or another…
“Natasha.” He acknowledged me.
“Where the hell is Niklas? Doesn’t he know that this is kind of riding on him?” I was a little stressed out, so sue me. It tends to happen when the fate of the human race rests on your shoulders.
“He’s… setting up.” Seth replied vaguely. I was not at all annoyed with the answer.
“What the hell is he setting up?” I narrowed my eyes at him and tilted my head to the side. (Like a bird!)
“Stuff.” He was joking irritatingly enough.
“Wow… Specific.” I deadpanned.
“I aim to please.” Seth sipped his coffee nonchalantly.
“He’s spying on his parents… Isn’t he?” I realized.
“Points to the metahuman!” I cringed at his words. I was obviously bothering him but I’m a teenager and I don’t care about stuff like that.
“You don’t have to be a dick about it.” I huffed more annoyed than I was to begin with.
