“God, you feel incredible,” he muttered over and again like a mantra, kissing her deeply, his tongue thrusting in time with his torso. When he felt her body pulling harder at his, her hands clawing at his shoulders and back, he sped up the motions, giving her what she needed.

Regan wrapped her legs around his hips in response, withholding nothing, her body all but begging Tyler to move faster and harder. He thrust deeper and quicker until he felt her body grow taut and her breathing stop. Kissing her hard, bruising her lovely pouty mouth with his teeth, he felt her body shudder and pulse around his, her orgasm rippling through her, her core clenching, impossibly tight around him.

Tyler tried to catch his breath, tried to hold on, moving more slowly, waiting for the spasms to subside but he was hanging on by a thread and within moments it snapped. Tyler throbbed and exploded into Regan’s warmth, hoarsely shouting his release.

They lay in the aftermath, as their breathing slowed and evened, gently stroking each other’s skin, feathering each other’s faces with tiny kisses.

“Oh my god,” Regan finally laughed. “That was amazing.”

  “Worth waiting twenty years for?”

“Yeah, but I don’t plan to wait more than twenty minutes for the next round, Champ.”

  Tyler happily obliged.

  Chapter Twelve

  Regan

Regan awoke to find the sun in her eyes, a tenderness between her legs and a warm, muscular body wrapped around her naked body. Smiling at the decadent combination, she lazed briefly, basking in the pleasure before she sidled sideways out from under Tyler, working hard not to wake him.

Padding to the bathroom on quiet feet, she washed her face, doing her best to remove stray signs of last night's mascara. Regan brushed her hair and teeth, grabbed a light robe, then headed to make a big pot of badly-needed coffee. They had been up most of the night, and she was tired. Tired, but elated.

It was already close to 10 am. Regan couldn't remember the last time she'd slept that late. She poured her first cup of java, inhaled the rich aroma and went looking for her purse. Digging out her phone, she texted Missy as she found a plug for it to recharge.

"Good morning," she wrote. "All is right with the world at last. You'll never guess who stayed over here last night."

“WHOA!” came the almost instant response. “Talk?”

"Calling" Regan returned. Rapidly dialing her sister, Regan barely got out a hello before Missy peppered with questions she did her best to answer. Her answers were vague. She was bursting to share but didn't want to give away too much.

“Surprised? Oh definitely, I was surprised. It just happened. One minute he was pushing me away, the next he was pulling me forward.” Missy prodded for more details. “Me. I made the first move,” Regan confessed, ”well, after he kissed me on the dance floor. I am not even sure he was aware of what he was doing. He seemed preoccupied after a phone call.” Regan listened as Missy speculated on Tyler's behavior before responding, "Who knows, but before the call, he was aloof; not after." Regan couldn't wipe the satisfied smile off her face. "Honestly Missy? I am not answering that. That either," a blush rose in Regan's cheeks. She was grateful her sister wasn't there to see it. "Yes, it was definitely worth the wait," she said, keeping her voice low so as not to wake Tyler.

“I am delighted to hear that,” a deep voice rumbled in Regan’s ear, just as a pair of strong arms wrapped around her from behind. “But I don’t think we should wait anymore, do you?”

"Missy. I love you. We'll talk later. Gotta go." Regan disconnected abruptly, turning into Tyler's arms in a fluid movement. He lowered his head to kiss her thoroughly, holding her low around the waist, his hands cupping her butt to keep her close to his gloriously naked body. His erection rose hard between them. Regan could feel the heat of it through her robe, which Tyler was fumbling to untie.

“Coffee?” Regan queried, breathless from Tyler’s kisses.

“Mm,” came his positive response, “then you. A lot of you.”

Regan moved reluctantly from Tyler's embrace, pouring a steaming cup of fragrant coffee with added cream, then topping off her own. He swallowed almost half the liquid quickly, while she barely had time to take a sip before Tyler lifted her onto the cold granite countertop and undid the belt holding her robe closed.

Stepping between her legs, Tyler slid his hands around her, warm skin caressing warm skin. He kissed a trail from her eyes down to the tip of her nose. He settled on her lips again, gently sucking her pouty lower lip between his and sliding his tongue into her mouth. His kisses grew rougher, more demanding, as Regan met his tongue thrust for thrust in a simulation of the lovemaking soon to follow.

She was breathing quick, shallow breaths when he lowered his head to slide his tongue down the long column of her neck, causing her to shiver in response. Man, he knew how to turn her on. She felt a craving for him rise in her body, hot and demanding. Tyler feathered a row of soft kisses from collarbone to collarbone then captured one hardened nipple between his teeth, feeling it harden. Regan gasped as a jolt electrified her every nerve ending.

“Like that?” Tyler asked, his teeth lightly scraping her breast. “I want to learn everything that excites you, Ree. Everything.”

Regan threw her head back and allowed the luxurious warmth to spread throughout her body. She felt the wetness pooling between her legs, but Tyler was in no rush to fulfill her growing need. Her hands scrabbled to bring him tighter against her, begging him to satisfy her desire. Rather than comply, he continued sucking and nibbling her breast until it was deep pink, the nipple rigid, tight with the sensation of needles and pins.

When he moved to her other breast at long last, Regan released a sigh of pleasure, bringing her hands up to hold Tyler's head hard against her body.

Tyler swiveled Regan on the corner of the oversized counter to accommodate her entire body. He gently coaxed her until she was resting flat on her robe, with her legs dangling over the counter’s edge. Then he dipped his head lower, moving down her body until she felt his hot breath on her throbbing center.

Regan experienced gut-wrenching desire, her arousal pulsing like a living thing. Small moans and sighs escaped from her of their own volition. Tyler kissed the inside of one white thigh, then moved lower to her knee, then the arch of her foot. He shifted to the other foot, then knee and up the other thigh. He was taunting her, making her wait as her need escalated.

Finally, he granted her what she was craving, his sensual lips wrapping around the tiny nub of nerves at her core. His tongue stroked her with firm strokes, then light ones, doing an expert dance with his mouth until she shattered into a million pieces. She was moaning with pleasure, her body throbbing inside and out, as she held Tyler's head steady, waiting for the staggering sensations to subside.

If Regan thought Tyler would release her, let her come down from her incredible high, she was sadly – or not so sadly – mistaken. He pulled her buttocks closer to the edge of the counter, placed several more kisses between her legs, then nibbled on her again.

“Stop, Tyler, please,” she begged. “It’s too much. Too intense.”

He stroked her with his tongue and then nibbled again.

“Seriously, it’s too much. I need to rest.”

“Do you?” he asked mischievously, barely lifting his head as she braced herself on her forearms to make eye contact. “Your lips tell me one thing, but your body is saying something completely different.”

He was right. Regan slid her body closer to him with each nibble, seeking the pleasure she knew he could provide. Regan's legs held Tyler's head tight against her in a vise-like grip. Even as she asked for rest, she felt a second orgasm pulsing through her body, gaining power.

"Do you really want me to stop?" he asked, lifting his head from where he was doing an extraordinary job bringing her to the brink of ecstasy. She noted his wicked smile and knew she had met her match.

“God no, don’t stop now,” she cried, dropping he
r head to the counter and allowing herself to succumb to the orgasm swamping her body. She shook with the force of it, feeling her body pulse and shiver around Tyler’s talented tongue.

Tyler released her almost immediately and slid her closer to the counter’s edge until only the top of her buttocks and Tyler's strong hands kept her from tilting off. He positioned himself carefully, and in one powerful stroke, slid deep and hot into her still pulsating body. She was slick with her juices, wet and welcoming.

The last of her orgasm was still subsiding even as the next began to build. No way she could have three orgasms in such rapid succession. No way, she mused as she lost coherent thought. Her body slipped up and down the counter with his movements, her robe sliding smoothly on the hard surface.

Tyler held her shoulders, bending over her body squeezing her so that her body created a contrasting push to his thrusts, creating a steady rhythm that increased in pace and intensity as his arousal intensified. He grew impossibly thicker inside her, filling her completely. That tightness of desire was building again, her toes curling as the friction of his body against hers brought her trembling to a precipice, in need of release.

With several hard thrusts, Regan's body unleashed, shattering and throbbing around Tyler, who, thrusting even harder, immediately found his release, pulsing deep into her body. They rode the storm of bliss together for a long moment before he rested his head on her breast and his body softened inside her.

Catching his breath, Tyler slid out of Regan. She felt the loss immediately, longing to maintain that close connection although she was exhausted and sated. He planted tiny kisses on each nipple before helping her to sit up.

Tyler nonchalantly handed Regan her coffee mug before sipping his cold brew like he wasn't standing naked before her, like he hadn't just rocked her world. He gave her that Tyler smile. "So? What shall we do today?"

“I think we just did it, didn’t we?”

Laughing, he pulled her close and planted a hard kiss on her lips. She tasted coffee and that salty, musky flavor of herself. "It was the start, Ree. That was only the start."

“Just the start? If that was just the start, I am not sure I can survive the ending.”

“Well, that depends. How sore are you?”

Sore?" She asked although she understood the question. Did he want more? She would definitely need a rest first. The man was insatiable.

"Yes, sore. We have been a little frisky," Tyler smiled at his understatement. "Could you ride a bike? It's a glorious spring day, Ree. Let's get out of here and remind you why you need to stay in Chicago."

As if the best reason to stay wasn’t standing right in front of her.

  Chapter Thirteen

  Tyler

Tyler and Regan behaved like young lovers the entire day, appropriate since their pairing was young and fresh despite the length of their enduring love. Tyler suggested the Sofitel Hotel, and they walked the few blocks hand in hand, then kissed and cuddled like teens while they awaited a romantic outdoor table.

"I just can't decide," Regan spoke earnestly, surveying the French-influenced brunch menu. "Everything looks scrumptious."

“It’s breakfast, Ree,” Tyler said. “You were going to serve me a lowly carton of yogurt. No matter what you order, it will be better than that.”

"Well, I could have quiche or an omelet, but the waffles and French toast look good, too," she vacillated, staring longingly at the plates placed on nearby tables.

"What are you having?" she interrogated Tyler, spearing him with her bright blue gaze like his breakfast decision was a matter of state.

  "Eggs Benedict."

"Oooh, that sounds good too," she whined, unusually indecisive.

"We could share, Regan, would that help? Then you only have to narrow it down to two things." He would have happily ordered her every item on the menu. Anything to make her smile. Anything to make her stay.

"Perfect." She quickly settled on the brioche French toast and Tyler's Eggs Benedict, along with mimosas and fruit.

"See how good we are together?" Tyler reminded her with an impudent grin. "Although you are so thin that I am surprised that food is so important."

“Well, I worked up quite an appetite,” she flashed him a sassy smile, “but I have been watching my weight lately, so this is a real splurge.”

“Well, for starters, your weight is perfect. And more importantly, I intend to help you burn a lot of calories today,” Tyler announced with an accompanying leer.

  “You already did.”

"Oh, honey, I am just getting started."

They laughed together, as Regan reached across the glass table to squeeze Tyler’s hand. When she went to remove it, he held on fast.

"We have a lot of time to make up for, Ree," he told her solemnly before placing a sensual kiss in the palm of her hand. She nodded her agreement, and they stayed touching until Tyler was forced to release her so they could eat.

It was a perfect April day, just warm enough for sitting on the terrace and luring Chicagoans out with the promise of Spring. Regan kept turning her face to the sun until Tyler insisted they rearrange her seat to be shaded by the large, bright red umbrella above them. “I intend to take great care of you, Ree, and helping you avoid a sunburn is part of that.”

“You know I am a big girl Tyler, right? You know I can take care of myself?”

“But you wouldn’t deny me the pleasure of spoiling you, would you?”

"Well, when you put it that way…" Regan beamed with pleasure. It reminded Tyler of their high school days, before everything exploded, when he was able to get her to smile easily.

After overeating, they walked a few blocks along the Gold Coast streets, admiring the stately old mansions and enjoying the dappled shade of the budding trees. When they were tired of walking, they rented Diveys – the bright turquoise bicycles placed strategically about the city for commuters and tourists.

Tyler was concerned about Regan after the night and morning's sexual activities, but the ride was short, and she bragged to Tyler "she was tough." Still, they abandoned the bikes after a short fifteen-minute ride, leaving them in a Divey rack near Lincoln Park and continuing on foot.

First, Tyler suggested the Conservatory, a stunning 1890's glass structure boasting the Spring Flower Show. It did not disappoint. Tyler and Regan wandered the palm and orchid houses – then entered the show house - weaving between couples and families, admiring colorful azaleas, elegant hydrangea, exotic orchids and fragrant hyacinths. They swung clasped hands like teens when they had space, and ducked behind a rather large display of ferns for stolen kisses until Tyler feared he wouldn't be able to walk. She had a high-voltage effect on his body.

Next, they found themselves strolling the park walkways, stopping to admire statues of Benjamin Franklin, Abraham Lincoln, and Hans Christian Anderson they had seen a thousand times. "It's as if I am seeing everything for the first time," Tyler confessed to Regan.

"I know," she agreed, dropping a quick kiss on the tip of his nose. "I feel like a tourist."

"I just feel incredible," Tyler admitted. "I'm sorry I stayed away so long, Ree..." he began, wondering if he was crazy to come clean here and now. Their relationship was changing. Regan would need to know the truth.

"Ooh, popcorn," Regan gushed as they approached the zoo entrance, saving Tyler from his confession. "That smells so good."

"Do you want some?" Tyler was already reaching for his wallet.

"Yes please, although God only knows where I will put it." She patted her flat stomach as if it protruded. "French toast and popcorn. I will get fat."

“I’ll help you work it off later.” Tyler pulled her tight to his side as he made the promise and they kissed and laughed, delighted by the idea.

Wandering into Lincoln Park Zoo, Tyler stopped to purchase them each a drink before they meandered past the zebras, triggering a conversation about Regan's trip to Africa many years earlier for a safari.

  “I have never
been, but it’s always been high on my bucket list,” Tyler confessed.

“We could go together. I would love to go back again, spend more time in Cape Town and the surrounding wine country. You will love it. It is a lot like San Francisco actually, but different.”

“Alike but different,” he laughed. “I like that. Do you have photos?”

“On my computer, not on my phone. Remind me to show you later.”

"Do you realize how many things we missed doing together all these years? What a waste." Tyler grew wistful at the thought. He was about to say more when Regan interrupted.

"Don't go all melancholy on me Ty. It's not like we are too old and too late."

“No, but I have been an ass to wait this long.”

Tyler chose not to say more, wanting to preserve the mood and keep Regan smiling. Later he could worry about coming clean, worry about putting Regan in jeopardy. Even now Tyler could be exposing her to danger, but with the sun shining, the fragrance of spring flowers, popcorn, and animals filling his nostrils, crowds of children laughing and Regan's hand trustingly folded in his, threats and danger seemed a million miles away.

As they moved past the swan pond, speaking of nothing and everything, Tyler enjoyed the perfect day and the pleasure of Regan’s company. They joined the crowd in front of the seals, admiring their sleek bodies and laughing at their antics. It was a gorgeous day, and throngs of Chicagoans were outdoors after a long winter's hibernation.

Suddenly Regan was falling hard against Tyler, ultimately losing her balance. His strong arms reached out instinctively to catch her, holding her close against his chest, adrenaline sending his pulse racing, as she regained her lost composure and her breath.
