“Rhys does but I haven’t had time to tell Nikki, and up until today, I wasn’t speaking to Gav.”

My heart beat erratically in my chest. This was our chance to start from scratch. Was I ready for that? Hell, fucking yes, I was ready.

Rushing back to where Roman still sat on the floor, I dropped to my knees, curling my fingers around his neck and planted my lips to his in a hard kiss. He wrapped his arms around my waist and held me tight as his tongue delved into my mouth, licking and tasting. I returned his kiss with as much fervour until he pulled away slightly.

  “Is that a yes?”

“It’s a hell-fucking-yes. Let’s do it. I want to be where you are. I can’t do this being apart for days on end, Roman.”

“Good, because I missed you like fucking crazy. I love you so much, Paisley.”

“I love you.” I sighed. My heart was full. “When do we have to leave?”

“We can leave tomorrow, they’re open tickets.”

“I have so much to do. Oh my God…”

“That can wait. Come here.” Pulling my face down to his he pulled me into his lap and whispered against my lips, “I’m so glad you were sent to work for me, Pais. You know I’m never letting you go, don't you?”

  “You’d better not.”

  “Not a chance.”

We shared a long, heartfelt kiss, his lips moulding to mine as he devoured me. I tugged him closer as his tongue begged for entrance into my mouth. His hands caressed me as one of mine tightened onto his t-shirt and I ran the other one through his hair. I tugged on the ends slightly and he groaned into my mouth.

“Baby. We… we have to tell the guys the news.” He ground out his words in a gasp as he placed small kisses on my lips. With one last kiss for good measure, I jumped up from his lap. Roman stood up and took my hand in his, joining our fingers he lifted them to his lips and placed a kiss on my knuckles. “Let’s do this.” I nodded with, what felt like, the biggest smile on my face as we headed out to find Nikki and Gav.

  “That was quick…”

Gav laughed at Roman before winking at me from the couch. Nikki sat on the other sofa with her legs curled up beneath her, her laptop on her thighs, She tutted and shook her head at Gav.

“Shut up, dick. We have something to tell you guys...”

  The Next Day

While Roman stowed our luggage in the overhead compartment I sat down and fastened my seatbelt. My palms beginning to get sweaty. I tried to take my mind off the fact that we were going to be around thirty-eight thousand feet in the air by watching the muscles ripple in Roman’s back as he reached up. Licking my lips, my mouth watered. Roman took his place beside me and grabbed my hand.

  “Are you okay, beautiful?”

Nodding I tried to make myself sound upbeat, “Yep.”

With his lips lingering on my knuckles, he lifted his arm for me. I snuggled into his side as the pilot made his announcement over the tannoy, giving us all the jargon that I’m sure no-one really listens to, and the plane began taxiing along the runway.

  “Are you ready for this?”

Tipping my head back I looked into Roman’s beautiful eyes. “As long as I’m with you, I don’t care where we are.”

Caressing my face with his palm, his fingers curled around to the back of my head, “This is the first day of the rest of our lives together. I love you so much, Paisley.”

I didn’t feel the wheels lift from the ground because I was so enraptured by Roman, I’d fly to the moon for him, as long as it meant we were together.

Who would have thought that the boy who once made me feel like I was nothing, would make me his everything?

  Epilogue

  Three Months Later

It’d been two months since we actually made the move to L.A. We had so much to sort out before we could finally move out here, we had visas to secure, but Hugo Boss helped with that, along with a place to live.

Since we’ve lived out here, she’d seemed at peace. She’s happy.

She’d taken on the job of my personal publicist and she handled everything. Rhys, Nikki and Kevin made the trip with us without question. I also paid Gavin’s debts off so he could make a fresh start. I was the only one who could afford to clear it anyway, other than his parent’s, and they’d washed their hands of him. I found out he and his parents had a lot of arguments over his lifestyle and they’d had enough of him. Paisley was right all along, but he just needed the right guidance. He’s my best friend and had been for a long time and he’d made everything right again. He wasn’t going to let me pay them off at first, so I made him agree to work for me and he could pay his debt off that way. I’d placed Gav on my security detail along with Rhys and Kevin. The guy had always been around anyway so it’s not like he didn’t know how to do it. Him and Paisley were getting along much better now and working on this new relationship between them, he’d dropped the loathing he seemed to have for her. I’m glad to say.

The car stopped in a familiar spot, I pulled Paisley from the car with me, telling Rhys I wouldn’t be long.

  “Where are we going?”

  “You’ll see in a minute.”

I looked back over my shoulder and winked at my girl. When she realised where we were, I was pretty sure I’d be in the good books for a while. With her hand encased in mine I pulled her along over the rough ground and stood her in front of the place she loved the most. I placed my hands on her shoulders, turning us, so she’d get the full benefit of the view I wanted to show her. Her eyes widened and began to water when she saw the Hollywood sign again. “Oh my God, how is it possible that I feel like this again.”

She focused on the sign behind us, she didn’t see me drop to one knee and hold out the little blue, velvet box in my hand.

“Paisley, look at me, baby.” Every emotion was etched across her face. The love, her admiration, it was all there shining in her tear-filled eyes.

  “Roman. What… are you serious?”

“Damn right, I’m serious. Paisley Kennedy, you’re an amazing woman, I’ve grown so much since you’ve been in my life and I love the very bones of you. I can remember the very day that I actually fell in love with you.”

  “You can?”

Her voice was small as a tear fell from her eye. I reached up and gently pulled her hands away from her face.

“Yep, it was when we were sitting on that bus, right here in LA. I’ve never forgotten the awe I saw in your eyes. I love how you love the little things, the way you cry with happiness and you’re fiercely protective. I know I can’t live my life without you in it, I just wish I hadn't given you the ammunition to hate me the way you did.”

“It’s life. We love, we hate. There’s a very fine line between it and I know in my heart that you are the love of my life.”

I reached up and grasped her fingers with mine, “Paisley Kennedy, queen of my heart, I want to love you and cherish you forever. Will you be my wife?” The corners of her lips stretched, forming a wide smile on her face as she dropped to her knees in front of me. I swiped my thumbs over the wetness beneath her eyes and held her face in my hands.

“Oh, my goodness, Roman. Yes. YES. I’ll marry you.” Curling my fingers around the back of her head, I tugged her towards me and kissed her passionately.

“Hmm,” she groaned before pulling back, “Just one thing, I have to tell you something.” She reached around her back and into her pocket. Watching closely, she hid something in her palm, closing her fingers around it and forming a fist.

  “What’s wrong?”

She dropped back and smiled before opening her hand and showing me what she was hiding. “Is this what I think it is?”

An applicator sat in her hand, I took it from her and focused on the viewing window at the two blue lines that were vividly present. “I’m going to be a dad?”

“Yes.” My shock must’ve caused her to doubt me and the smile dropped from her beautiful face.

  “Are you not happy?”

Happy? Paisley, I’m fucking over the moon. I’m going to be a dad. I’m just in shock.”

“Oh, thank God for that!” The smile reappeared on her face.

Standing, up I pulled her up with me and lifted her into my arms, spinning her around and kissing every inch of her face.

Placing her back down on her feet, I closed my hands around her face and kissed her soft lips until they were swollen, tasting the salt from her tears as they trickled down her cheeks and into the corner of her mouth.

“You are my world, both of you. I promise, I won’t fuck this up.”

Wrapping my arms around her, I held her tight against my chest, not able to rid my face of the stupid grin.

I have no idea what I did to deserve a woman like Paisley. I was one of the biggest dicks at school, it’s no wonder she didn’t want to work with me, but I was determined to show her that the man could be different to the teenager. I’d just had to prove it.

I may have thought I was some kind of untouchable, but Paisley showed me that I was nothing more than a pawn, a slave to her beauty. She waltzed into my life again and showed me there’s more than a pretty face, and that’s a beautiful soul. Paisley had them both. She had shown me what true love really is and I couldn’t wait to make her my wife and start our life together.

  Acknowledgments

  Hey all…

What can I say about Roman and Paisley other than I can’t wait for you to meet them!

This book was originally part of the Anyone But You boxset and due to unforeseen circumstances I had to pull out at the last minute. So, I guess I have the organisers of that to thank for Roman and Paisley, because without the idea for that, they may have never came to light. These two have really taken a special place in my heart, and early reviews tell me that readers are thinking that too and that makes me so happy.

As ever, there is a lot of work that goes into a book and also a lot of people, so without wasting anymore time rambling on, let’s get to it:

My editor, Caroline Stainburn: First of all I want to thank my editor @Word Wizard Editing. That woman must have the patience of a saint, especially when it was in two different tenses. The woman literally is a wiz, and I couldn’t have published this book without her. I’m so proud to be able to put her name to this book. You’re awesome, you make me so much better, and I feel positive about my own words. So, until the next time…

My PA, Zulfa Cupido: This poor suffering woman offered to take me on as her client, I really must have been struggling LOL but she makes be a better writer every single day, she markets the shit out of me and actually keeps me kinda sane… hm, I love you lady.

Jen Dale: I’m not sure what I can say about you other than you really surprise the shit outta me at times. But I love you fuckface, you know me better than most and knowing I have you in my corner makes me better.

My long and suffering Betas: Joy, Sarah, Nikki, Lesley, Rhonda, Natasha, Karen, Lauren and Sheryl… You guys, you never cease to amaze me. You drop everything for me. You read every bit of crap I write, and I couldn’t be a writer without you guys and your honesty and support.

Karen: I made you read this story so many times in the early stages, I’m surprised you didn’t tell me to sling my hook. But your feedback was amazing. Thank you so much.

Sarah, Nikki and Lesley: What can I say other than thank you for putting up with my last minute messages asking you to read for me, or just to take a quick look something for me. I bet you guys love it when I have nothing ready to read LOL!

My poor suffering ARC team: Thank you for being there and reading for me. Thank you so much for sticking with me and reviewing. Everyone knows how important reviews are, and early reviews are just the best.

With every writer there’s always people in the background that help you without even realising it and expect nothing in return. I have quite a few friends in the book world but there’s always those few that stand out. I appreciate you guys so much. You understand me. You get my mood swings and you just let me rant when I need to get it out and I wouldn’t be sane without any of ya!

Stacy, Lizzie, Jo-Anne, Cora, Carmel, to name but a few, I’m not sure how you all put up with me, but you do, and I love and appreciate you every single day. There are so many people this applies to and I just don’t have the room and I always forget someone, but you guys know who you are and just know that you hold a special place in my heart.

Eleanor @Showerof Schmidt designs: Thank you for the beautiful cover. I think this is one of the sexiest I’ve had yet. You’re a wiz at graphics, keep up the hard work gorgeous one day soon you’ll be a full-time designer. Love ya!

Lou Stock: Thank you so much for your awesome paperback formatting, it’s beautiful. Are there no end to your talents? <3

Cora: Cora, thank you so much for giving up your busy writing time for formatting the e-book for me. I don’t think you realise how much I appreciate having you in my life. You support me no end, even an amateur like me. You’re amazing! Love ya! <3

Phoenix Book Promo: Lizzie. Thank you so much for everything you do for me. And there’s a lot, let’s be honest. You’re amazing. Don’t ever forget that.

A massive shout out to my family and my friends. My best friend Shell who has a lot to put up with from me these days and I’m sorry, but I love you all from the bottom of my heart.

Lastly my readers: Without readers there’s no point in writing. These last 4 and a half years have been a crazy ride, but you guys keep me going. Thank you so much for your support.

So I’ll be signing off for now, but I really hope you love Roman and Paisley as much as I do and enjoy the journey they embark on.

If you’ve got to the end of this, well done. There’s nothing like rambling if you don’t show it.

Lots of love to you all, see you guys soon.
