The elevator dinged again, the doors opened, and before I knew it we were standing in front of room five twelve. I didn’t hesitate to swipe the key card in the slot.

“After you.” I held the door open and watched Malia like a hawk as she entered my hotel room. I took in every movement. Every shift of her body, and every sway of her long hair had me adjusting my cock.

“Would you like something to drink?” I asked, as I shut and secured the door.

  “I would, thank you.”

She removed her sweater and I forced myself not to reach for her. If I did, I wouldn’t have the strength the take my time tonight. It may be my only chance for this, so my rushing it wouldn’t do me any good.

Opening the minibar, I scanned the shelves and door and grabbed two mini bottles of rum and a can of Coke. After making quick work of mixing our drinks, I moved to stand close behind her.

I breathed on that sensitive part of her neck. “For you,” I said, reaching my arm around her so she could take the drink. She didn’t move for it, though, and it was then that I saw the goose bumps down her arms.

  “Are you cold?”

She shook her head and looked at me from over her shoulder. The flash of lust in her eyes caused my control to crack. I set our drinks down, grabbed her hips, and spun her. The second we were face to face I crashed my lips onto hers and pulled her body tight against mine.

Malia snuck her hand between our bodies, wrapping my necktie around her hand and pulling me even closer. She tasted exactly as I remembered, and when she stood on her tiptoes, pushing her hips into mine and wrapping her free arm around my neck, my control evaporated.

With a little force, I yanked one side of her tank top down, exposing the swell of her breast and fine lace of her red bra.

“Sweetheart. You are as exquisite.” I continued my whispering of sweet nothings, peppering kisses along her neck and shoulders until my cock couldn’t take it anymore.

Fisting the thick strap of her top, I waited for the permission I needed. At the slight nod of her head, I pulled the front down, completely exposing her breasts. They were as perfect as I remembered, and I dipped my head so I could suck hard on her nipple.

Flashes of her sneaking me into her dorm room, having crazy sex before her roommate returned and on every flat surface of the little apartment we shared. I was reminded once again what this woman had truly meant to me. This was not the time to reminisce, so I shoved the thoughts away and enjoyed our time here and now.

“Zack, please don’t make me beg.” She let go of my tie and moved her hands down until she was stroking my cock. I trailed kisses up the side of her neck and snuck my hand in the back of her shirt. I unhooked her bra before tugging at the hem of her top.

When she raised her arms, I slid her top and bra over her head in one swift motion and dropped her clothes to the floor. She was perfect. Free to touch her skin, my hands roamed over her until I was cupping her breasts in my hands. They were still perfect, too. My thumbs passed across her delicate pink nipples, and her head fell back on a moan.

With one perfect tit in my mouth and the other spilling over in my hand, she had me about coming in my pants. It had been so long since I had such sweet perfection.

  CHAPTER FOUR—Malia

All coherent thoughts disappeared into thin air as soon as his mouth closed over my nipple. All I could think about was getting Zack naked and between my legs. First, I had to find the strength to get him to stop what he was currently doing. Wrapping his tie around my fist, I led him back into the bedroom.

The king-size bed with more pillows than were needed looked inviting, and the deeper hue of the bedroom walls created a seductive feel. Then his mouth was on mine and his hands were everywhere, demanding all of my attention. I made quick work of removing Zack’s tie and unbuttoning his crisp white dress shirt.

After the last button popped, his shirt fell open and I ran my hands across his chest, over his shoulders, and down his arms, letting his shirt fall forgotten to the ground.

“Just as I remembered.” His belt was next, and it was followed by the rest of his clothes. I could actually feel his pounding heartbeats against my palms where they pressed against his chest. The rise and fall gave away how much I affected him, and I wondered if he could feel the heat burning through my body.

“Zack …” I slid his pants and boxer briefs down his muscular thighs. Somewhere along the way he must have removed his shoes, because the second his pants pooled at his feet, he stepped out of them and stood gloriously naked in front of me.

“I think we need to get you out of those.” He didn’t wait for me. He had my skirt off before I really understood his words. Then when he tangled his hands in the back of my hair and started kissing and nipping at my neck, I didn’t care what he said.

“I forgot how beautiful and sexy you are.” He pressed wet kisses to the base of my neck, slowly dragging his tongue higher, until finally his lips wrapped around my earlobe. My mind was in such a lust-induced fog, my hands hung at my sides. I was paralyzed by his touch. I couldn’t process a coherent thought of what role I should be playing.

Zack, who had never missed a beat, grabbed my hand and brought it to his cock. I wrapped my hand at the base, and let his hand guide mine as we both stroked him.

“Ahh, fuck yes,” Zack groaned. “Apparently, I’ve forgotten other things.” Zack released the hold he had on my hair to caress my cheeks. A familiar look shone in his eyes, and I squashed the impending thought. This was one night—or one week. Whichever he could handle. Our lips met again and my heart squeezed; this kiss held a different meaning than what was actually happening at the moment.

“Sweet.” Zack smacked his lips and took a tiny step back. His eyes burned with a hunger as his hand reached low and his fingers traced along my folds, coating me with my own juices. I swallowed hard as he pushed two fingers into me. Each breath thereafter felt strangled. My eyelids closed, and I concentrated on the sensations and emotions Zack was bring to the surface.

“Get on the bed, sweetheart. I need you.”

I stepped away from him, holding his stare until the backs of my legs hit the side of the mattress. I scooted backward to the mountain of pillows. Zack already had a condom in his hand, but I wasn’t watching that. I was watching the way his shoulders moved and flexed when he crawled onto the bed after me.

Anticipation and excitement of what was coming created a pulsating beat between my thighs. I wanted this man. And had first-hand knowledge of the explosive orgasms he was capable of giving. He was just that good.

“Malia … sweetheart.” I nod. “I’m aching to be buried deep in you.” He trailed the head of his cock up and down my sensitive folds and lingered at my entrance.

I nodded again, unable to form any words. My breathing became labored and an intense heat prickled from my head to my toes. My need for this man was about to burst like a firework; the anticipation was killing me.

The second Zack pushed into me, my back arched in automatic response, and I let him take me away. I wanted to be transported to a place where time was of no consequence—a place that ran on feeling alone. By the slow thrusts and swivels of his hips, he was taking me exactly where I needed to be.

  ***

Sex always had a way of complicating things. I should have known from past experience with Zack that I was not capable of separating my mind from my heart. Being intimate had unveiled feelings that were buried deep.

Sitting on the edge of the bed, I watched him, content and sated after an explosive and blissful night of sex. I debated quietly sneaking out, but then he wrapped his arm around my waist and kissed my back.

  “Where are you going?”

  “Bathroom,” I lied.

“Don’t be long. I need you to keep your side of the bed warm.” He kissed my back again before lying back down.

I closed the door behind me and stopped short when I saw my reflection. There was a distinct purple mark above my left breast, which had
me smiling and giddy. I should have been happy. I’d had a night of absolute no strings attached, amazing sex. Who cared if it was with Zack, the man that would always own my heart? I was the one who asked for his body and his pleasure, and that was exactly what I got. I would enjoy the time Zack offered. I could deal with my heart later—in private.

I must have taken too long, because Zack knocked and pushed the door open an inch. “You okay in here?”

“Yeah.” He pushed the door open and walked in to stand behind so he could wrap his arms around my waist. How we were standing reminded me of all the million other times we had stood exactly like this. He pressed his warm lips on my shoulder, and his eyes met mine in the mirror.

“You remember?” he questioned with a gleam in his eye.

“How could I forget?” I needed to change the subject quick. “What are your plans for today?”

Zack’s erect cock pressed between my ass cheeks. “Hmm. You, me, and a bed, reminiscing a whole lot more.” He playfully bit my shoulder before reaching to caress my breasts. Zack pulled at my nipples, and the sensation landed a straight shot to my core. I pressed my ass back in invitation and Zack groaned.

“I want to feel you. Are you on birth control?” I nodded. “I’m clean. Actually, I’ve never had sex without a condom with anyone other than you.” He fisted his cock and teased my entrance. “Malia I need—”

Without any words, I reached between us, guided his cock into me, and pushed back. A deep groan ripped from his chest, his knees buckled, and I grabbed onto the edge of the bathroom counter for balance. Zack’s movements were slow and deep at first, almost teasing at times.

The minute his thrusts became punishing, I leaned forward to rest my chest and cheek on the countertop. A shiver passed through my body at the contact of cool marble against my scorching skin. Moaning and sounds of sex echoed in the bathroom, but I didn’t care.

“Ahh, fuck … just like I remember.” Zack’s balls continued to hit my sensitive spot and I felt my insides clench. “Fuck, Malia, do that again.”

He pushed into me and snaked his hand between my legs so his fingers could rub tiny circles on my clit.

Concentrating on my rapidly building orgasm, I grabbed the faucet with both hands and held on. Needing something, but not knowing what, I lifted myself and looked at him in the mirror. The carnal look in his eyes was what pushed me into orgasm, and I screamed out my pleasure.

Zack picked up the pace, and in another few jerky thrusts, he pressed his front to my back and stilled.

We half stood and half lay on the counter until my inability to breathe was more from his weight and less from exertion. “Uhh, Zack. I can’t breathe,” I wheezed.

“Shit.” He took a step back, causing complete physical detachment. I closed my eyes and took another breath. The sound of running water filled the bathroom, and I peeked over to Zack. He was leaning in toward the shower, checking the water temperature while I checked out his muscular ass.

“Come shower with me.” He held his hand out for me.

We managed to keep our hands to ourselves long enough to get clean. Zach stepped out first, wrapped a towel around his waist and then held one out for me. I put my hand out, but he brushed it away and shook his head. “Uh uh.”

A second later, he held the towel open again and I stepped into it, allowing him to dry me off and wrap me up. Zack pressed a soft kiss to the top of my head before leading us out of the bathroom.

“You’re off today, right?” Zack asked as he grabbed a clean pair of boxer briefs from his luggage. I was already dressed and wringing the water out of my hair. “What do you think about spending the day together?” He added.

  “Don’t you have that conference?”

He shrugged. “I could miss it. It’s a bunch of repeat boring shit. I have no idea why my father insisted—excuse me, suggested—I attend in the first place.”

My coherence was lost the second Zack dropped his towel. How was it possible that he was getting hard again?

Zack’s chuckle had me shifting my gaze back to his face. “You see what you do to me? Always have.” He chuckled again and pulled his underwear on.

Embarrassment took over, and I turned my back to him and acted like I was looking for something to brush my hair with. When I didn’t find anything, I opted for a makeshift brush, raking my fingers through my long hair.

  “Did you have any plans?”

  I shook my head slowly.

“Well how’s about we play tourist? It’s been a while since I’ve been in Oregon. You could show me around?” Zack shrugged and had the most innocent look in his eyes. “It could be fun, right?”

“It could be.” I agreed, and a sexy smile spread across his lips. It was still as infectious as it used to be, and a smile grew on my face.

“Good. Let’s have breakfast, and then you can be my very own personal tour guide.”

“I have to stop by my apartment for a change of clothes, then I’d love to show you around.”

  ***

Seeing him at my place of work was different. But bringing Zack back to my apartment and into my personal space gave me a little bout of anxiety.

  “Make yourself at home.”

Zack nodded. He stepped into my average but sparsely decorated living room and headed straight for the floor-to-ceiling wall of glass that overlooked the city, and another surge of anxiety struck. What if he thought less of me for what little I had? What if he was well off with an elaborate home, fancy cars, and a bank account the size of Texas? What if he thought I was inconsequential now? I didn’t own a whole lot, but what I did own, I worked hard for.

“Your taste hasn’t changed much.” He looked around before settling into a corner of the sofa.

“Thank you. Can I get you something to drink while you wait?”

  “No, thanks.”

“I’m going to change, and then I’ll be right out.”

  “Sure, take your time.”

I rushed around my bedroom like a lunatic trying to find something cute and comfy to wear. After throwing on a pair of skinny jeans and a flirty top, I rushed to my bathroom to put on the bare minimum of makeup.

When I emerged back into the living room, Zack was back to standing in front of the window. I leaned against the wall and admired him. He stood tall and lean, his muscles perfectly defined and proportioned.

“Are they your grandparents?” he asked, pointing to a photo on my shelf.

“It is, and me and my sister Sydney.”

“She’s pretty. I forgot how much she looks like you.” Zack stepped to the left.

“Thanks. She’s still in Hawaii, married, and very, very pregnant.”

He grinned in a boyish way. “And these are your parents, yes?”

“Correct.” Zack had met my parents a few times before I graduated from Oregon State University. I pointed to a picture just to the left of the first one where they were standing on a beach at sunset. “That picture was taken shortly after they were married. It’s my favorite picture of the two of them. So young and in love.”

“I really wish I got to meet the rest of your family.” He walked to where I stood. “You ready to eat? Because I’m starving.”

  “I know the perfect place.”

  CHAPTER FIVE—Zack

Voodoo Donuts was a hit. We gorged ourselves on weird-looking sugary confections and caffeine before Malia drove us out to Washington Park. The second we stepped into the Japanese Gardens, I was in awe.

“Wow. This is amazing, almost like I stepped into another world.”

“It’s really pretty here. It kind of reminds me of home in a weird way.” She looked at me. “It’s such a melting pot of different cultures.”

A pang of guilt hit as I nodded in understanding. I would have known that if I had taken the leap of faith and gotten on that airplane five years ago.

Malia rested her hand on my arm. “Hey, it’s okay. Don’t even worry about it.”

  How, after all thes
e years apart, could she still read me? I took a controlled breath and let her lead the way until we reached a decently sized pond.

“Those are koi.” She pointed to the orange-and-white-looking catfish.

  “They look like catfish.”

  “They’re carp.” She corrected me.

“Do you eat that kind of fish?” I asked, a little puzzled.

“No, silly.” She giggled. “They’re decorative fish for the koi ponds.”

  “Oh.”

We continued our stroll, and my hand itched to lace our fingers together. In less than twenty-four hours almost every feeling I had ever had for her resurfaced. It was hard to believe it had been five years that we were apart. With the way I felt now, I would have guessed that only a day or two had passed. None of my feelings for her had changed or even lessened. Our connection was a compelling force, and I had no idea if I could walk away from her again.

“Tell me, what have you been up to?” My shoulders hunched as I tucked my hands into my front pockets, nervously jiggling some coins in my hands.

“Mostly work. After my grandpa passed—”

“I’m sorry to hear that,” I interrupted.

She nodded and a sad smile crossed her lips. “Thank you. I needed to get away. It was heart-wrenching to watch one of the strongest men in my life slowly wither away.”

I pulled my hand out of my pocket and found the courage to lock it with hers. Malia looked at me, and I released her hand so I could pull her pull her against my side. “I really am sorry.” I kissed the top of her head.

  “Thank you.”

The pain in her voice struck a nerve, and I hated every last bit of it. Malia had always loved deeply, and I should have realized that her grandfather passing would be hard for her. And I had left her to deal with it alone. How could I be so selfish? I gave her another kiss but didn’t say anything else as we started to walk again.

This place had a charm of its own. San Diego was nice, but in my opinion it lacked this kind of wonder. We continued our stroll with my arm around her, eventually pausing on a bridge to admire the pond beneath us. Natural beauty surrounded us from every angle, but it didn’t even begin to compare to the naturally beautiful woman standing next to me.
