Adam threw the covers off the bed, put on a pair of sweat pants and headed to the upstairs bathroom.

  Chapter Seventeen

Dominique did not go outside to watch the family football game; instead she stayed and helped in the kitchen. Adam tried to appear nonchalant every time he would glance up and look for Dominique, but he knew she was angry and that she would not come out to watch him play. His focus was not on the game and as his family members were able to tackle him time and time again, he gave up, he had to talk to Dominique, he couldn’t stand for her to be angry, especially on Thanksgiving.

When he walked into the kitchen, Dominique wasn’t there; she had made her way into the family room and was standing in front of the warm fire. Adam hesitated a moment before speaking.

“Dominique, are you still angry with me?”

Normally she wouldn’t have cared but Dominique knew that Brandon was trying to come between them, and that meant that she was going to have to try harder to pit brother against brother.

“Adam, I don’t appreciate how you let your brother walk in on us this morning.” She said with venom in her voice.

“Dominique Okay, first of all I didn’t let him in anywhere and second of all I think you’re making a bigger deal out of this than what it is.”

“Maybe you forgot just what it was I was doing to you this morning Adam and forgive me but I’m not into voyeurism.

I think… no I know what he did was on purpose and I think its sick Adam, plain and simple and if you’re not going to say anything to him then either bring me home or find yourself on a sofa tonight; there are plenty of those too!”

“Dominique I don’t understand why your acting this way, and what do you mean on purpose why the hell would he do that, I think your overreacting Dominique now can we just forget it ever happened and enjoy the day please?”

“And I just don’t think its right Adam! You’re under reacting! Her voice now rose. Don’t you see Adam, he's obviously angry at me for what I did to his friend, and he's trying to come between us and your letting it happen.”

“Dominique, if it will make you feel better, I’ll talk to him but I really wish you would try and calm down.”

Dominique was just plain angry now. “Adam you know what I wish? I wish that you would stop making excuses for you’re no good brother!” Dominique stormed out of the room.

I cannot believe he would defend his brother like that! Thought Dominique as she walked around the bedroom arms folded and gritting her teeth. That son of a bitch murdered my family and now he thinks he's gonna ruin my plans? I don’t fucking think so you piece of shit. Dominique knew that getting angry at Adam wasn't a good idea but she hoped that he would eventually see her side of things. Dominique knew that Brandon was a snake; she just hoped that Adam would see it too, and soon.

“Is it alright if I use the bathroom down here? The others are being used and I need to get ready for dinner.”

“Go ahead Adam, it’s your house,” she said as she sat on the bed pouting.

While he was in the shower, Dominique changed too, she wanted to entice and tease Adam as much as she could and she was glad she brought the perfect outfit with her. She had chosen to change into a wrap style cashmere sweater dress. The dress looked amazing on her and showed off her legs. She put on a touch of makeup, making sure she accentuated her full lips, and let her hair fall in loose curls around her shoulders. A pair of matching heels and she looked ravishing.

Adam was speechless when he saw Dominique standing in front of the full length mirror.

“I know you’re not talking to me but you look absolutely beautiful Dominique.”

Now it’s time for me to do a little teasing, she said to herself as she walked over to him.

Dominique gave Adam, who was still wet a once over.

Immediately he grew hard, he hoped that Dominique would change her mind and want to finish what she started. But that was not what she had in mind. Dominique simply wanted to tease him. Slowly she let her tongue swirl around the edge of his ear. She was driving him crazy and she knew it.

“Mmmmm, I wish I could finish what I started this morning but your brother might accidentally interrupt again and we wouldn’t want that to happen now would we? Better get dressed Adam, dinner's almost ready.” Dominique left Adam standing alone, mouth agape and more pent up than he could ever remember.

During dinner, Adam could hardly contain himself as Dominique who was sitting beside him kept brushing her leg against him or accidentally dropping her napkin or fork and having to bend down to retrieve them. With each subtle glimpse of her, Adam thought he would burst. Not even the delicious meal was enough to distract him from wanting her. Finally he knew what he had to do. He whispered in her ear, “I'll talk to my brother after dinner.”

Dominique turned to him and smiled brightly. “Thank you.”

After dinner, as Brandon left the table and went outside to smoke, Adam saw his opportunity and followed him.

“Hey little brother, that was some meal huh?” Brandon said while lighting his cigarette.

“Yeah it was great, listen Brandon I need to talk to you about what you did this morning.”

“What are you talking about Adam? What the hell did I do this morning?”

“You barged in on Dominique and I and it's made her very uncomfortable Brandon, I need you to apologize to her.”

“Apologize? Apologize for what?” Brandon's short temper was about to reach its boiling point.

“Well to be honest Brandon that was rude and you know after all she's been through these past few weeks you could have shown some respect.”

Brandon was spoiling for a fight; he'd had several glasses of wine at dinner and was beginning to feel its effects.

“You know what Adam? You're absolutely right, I should have knocked and If you can persuade Dominique to come out here I’ll apologize to her, this way there's no big scene, what do ya say?”

“Thanks Brandon, you’re saving my life here, hang tight I’ll go get her.”

“No problem little brother but do me a favor? Stay inside and let me talk to her alone, I think it'll be more sincere that way. Okay little brother? I just want her to know how sorry I really am.” Brandon did his best to lie and it worked.

Brandon knew that apologizing was the last thing on his mind, he wasn’t going to tell her he knew who she was, oh no, he would wait for that. But it is time that somebody put this arrogant bitch in her place, he told himself as Dominique walked outside.

“You wanted to see me? Dominique spoke coldly. You can do this Dominique, so far, so good, just remember, this son of a bitch is gonna get what's coming to him. Keep up the facade with him Dominique, it's working.

“Yeah, ah thanks for coming out here Dominique, I just wanted to say... running his fingers through his hair, “Adam tells me that your uncomfortable about me walking in on you guys this morning and well I just wanted to say that, I don’t really give a damn what makes you fucking uncomfortable bitch, you think you can come into town and get between my brother and me? Me and Adam are blood you got that?

And I hate to break it to you sweetheart but you're just another piece of ass to him, and he can get a nice piece of ass anywhere he wants, so whatever he's told you that makes you think your important, think again lady because he tells the same story to every fucking woman that comes into his life. So if I was you, I’d pack my fucking bag and go back to where you came from because no one is coming between my family you got that?” so get over yourself you two faced bitch.”

Dominique was stunned, if ever there was a moment where she wanted to reveal it all, now was the time. But she held her tongue; she said not a word as Brandon looked coolly at her. He was expecting a response but he got none. Dominique simply smiled at him and walked back into the house thinking, you just dug your own grave buddy. Dominique strolled by Adam and smiled.

“I'll be right back,” she whispered in his ear as she went down into their guest
room. Dominique fished in her purse for her cell and dialed a taxi company. The dispatcher told her it would be a bit more expensive due to the holiday but that didn’t matter to Dominique, the faster he can get here the better she told the dispatcher after giving her the address.

Dominique quickly threw everything in her overnight bag, taking care not to forget anything. I certainly don’t want to come back here, she said to herself.

“Dominique what's going on? Asked Adam who stood in the doorway absolutely clueless.

“What does it look like Adam? I'm leaving.”

Adam's stomach began to churn. Oh my god she's found out. It’s over, it’s all over he wanted to scream, tell her that it was a mistake, beg her forgiveness. But he could not, not yet, he had to make sure.

“Dominique please talk to me, he grabbed her by the arm.

“Adam let go of me. You don’t want me here! I'm just another piece of ass to you Adam.”

“What? Why are you saying this Dominique?” Adam's head was spinning.

“Why don’t you ask your brother?”

Dominique pushed by him and ran up the stairs. After telling his family that an emergency came up, Dominique bid them a hasty goodbye and walked out the door. The taxi had just arrived and as Dominique got in it she ignored Adam's angry outcries for her to stop, stop and talk to him.

Dominique was hurt by what Brandon had said, she knew it couldn’t be true but she was hurt none the less. But what if it was true? She wondered what if the whole thing was a lie simply to get me to go to bed with him.

All that nonsense about wanting to take me to Nantucket so that I could reflect, what if he fed that line to all the woman he had wanted to bed? What if the whole family is nothing but a bunch of liars, Muriel being the exception of course, what with having married into it. What if the jokes on you Dominique? What if he played you all along, not giving a damn about what happened to you or your family? I fucked up, she told herself, and I fucked up because I fell for Adam. I'm not going to make that mistake again.

Adam needed to cool down before he went back into the house. His family had gathered in the kitchen and was discussing Dominique's hasty retreat. “What happened?” They all asked when Adam came rushing back into the house. “Is everything alright son?” His father asked. The same question was looming in Jonathan's mind that had momentarily loomed in Adam's, had she found out? Jonathan's heart began to race.

When Adam reached his brother, he punched him in the face. Several family members broke the two apart as Adam tried to hit him again.

“What the fuck did you say to her?” Adam shouted as he fought against the many hands restraining him.

“Oh I get it, you’re gonna defend that bitch over me? Your own flesh and blood?” Brandon was relentless; he just couldn’t see what his own selfishness was doing to Adam. Jonathan stepped between his two sons and tightly held each by the arm.

“You two are gonna come with me now and we are gonna talk this out right now, this feud that you two are having is gonna end tonight I promise you that!”

Jonathan led his two sons’ into his private office and closed the door.

“Now which one of you is gonna tell me why that woman felt the need to get into a taxi on thanksgiving night and go back home? Brandon you want to start?”

Brandon told his father exactly what he told Dominique, word for word. Several times Jonathan had to restrain Adam from trying to hit his brother.

“I swear on my life Brandon, you ever go near her or so much as breathe around her again, I’ll kill you.” Adam had meant every word; he stormed past his brother and out the door.

Adam was furious, he couldn’t see straight, his head was pounding and he couldn’t catch his breath. He knew that his brother was a careless, selfish human being who thinks of no one but himself. Even if Adam had told his brother that he was well aware of the fact that he was responsible for the deaths of Stephen and Teddy Greenway, he knew that wouldn’t stop him from harming Dominique even if Brandon found out who she really was. All these lies and deceptions, thought Adam are what got us here in the first place. Adam's mind was reeling, he had to get in touch with Dominique, but his several calls to her went unanswered. “I’ve got to go to her now,” he whispered as he grabbed his car keys.

Dominique paid the taxi driver and slowly walked up the stairs to her brownstone; she was anxious to get home during the taxi ride but now being there and seeing it, gave her second thoughts. “There's nowhere else to go now,” she whispered as she unlocked the door. To her surprise, things weren’t as bad as she thought they would be, yes it was messy but the blood stains were gone and all that remained was a few pieces of broken glass, and some finger print dust. It was the same situation in the bedroom. “Looks like I know what I’ll be doing for the rest of the night.” Dominique was glad to have the distraction.

Cleaning up would be just the thing she needed to relieve her frustrations. She poured herself a glass of wine, put her hair up, and changed into a pair of yoga pants and a tank. As she went about the house wiping down and scrubbing, she let her mind wander to where she was only a couple hours ago. The more she thought about it, the harder she scrubbed. “Brandon thinks he's won,” she said through gritted teeth. “That son of a bitch hasn't won anything.” Dominique thought that because of what she did to Nick, Brandon was trying to get under her skin and keep her away from Adam.

But judging from the several phone calls that Adam had been making to her cell during the last few hours that was not going to happen. Adam wanted her and there was nothing Brandon could do to stop him. “You haven’t won a goddamn thing Brandon Caruso, not a goddamn thing.”

  Chapter Eighteen

When Adam arrived at the brownstone he was nervous, he wasn’t sure if she'd even let him in let alone talk to him. But there's only one way to find out he told himself. While Dominique was finishing her third glass of wine, the doorbell rang. “Well I guess he couldn’t stay away after all,” she slurred as she opened the door.

“What do you want Adam?” She snapped.

A quick glance around the apartment and Adam could tell she'd been cleaning and from the empty bottle, drinking as well.

“Dominique, I came here to apologize to you.”

  “Oh yeah? For what Adam?”

“For what my brother said to you Dominique and for the record I told him that he is to never to so much as come near you ever again. You were right about him Dominique and I guess I didn’t want to see it because he is my brother but I know the things he's capable of and I should have said something more when he walked in on us this morning and I’m sorry, I really am.”

Anger slowly began to fill Dominique, she wasn’t sure if it was the wine or the fact that Adam had showed up unexpectedly or because she was falling in love with the brother of the man who killed her husband and son. When she stepped forward and slapped him hard on the face, she was pretty sure it was the latter.

Adam had not been prepared for that and neither was Dominique but she did it anyway and when she reached to do it again, he grabbed both her hands.

“Let go of me Adam.” Dominique struggled against him. She was so angry and so upset that he would have even thought for a moment that his lying no good brother had any good in him.

“Dominique what has gotten into you?” even as he held her at bay, his desire rose for her.

Dominique wanted to hit him again, she wanted him to feel the same sting that she felt when Brandon told her that she was just another piece of ass to Adam and that Adam had woman all over town.

But he held her hands in his firm grip and while he did so he pulled her close, so close that his lips brushed hers as he asked her again what had gotten into her. Adam didn’t wait for a response, his tongue darted into her open mouth and even as Dominique fought against it she became incredibly aroused.

Adam could hold back no more, Dominique saw the look of pure masculinity in his eyes as they fell onto the couch. “You are mine Dominiq
ue,” Adam growled, and as clothes were pulled off and naughty obscenities were moaned by both, Adam hungrily made love to her. It was the first time they had done something so erotic. Dominique liked the spontaneity of it all and both she and Adam had enjoyed the dirty talk.

By the time they had both reached their climax, the two were in a heap of panting chests and sweat. “Does this mean I’m forgiven Dominique?” Adam joked.

“Oh I wouldn’t go that far buddy,” she said running her hands along his damp chest.

“Dominique you are amazing,” he said cupping her face in his hand and kissing her.

Brandon Caruso was fuming, he couldn’t believe his brother took off in the middle of the night to go and see Dominique. He was sure Adam would see the error of his ways and realize that Dominique being in his life was a bad thing and that he should have not gone after her. Maybe I should tell Adam the truth, he thought to himself.

Brandon was sure that if Adam knew what he did to Dominique's family, he would break things off with her for fear of ruining his own family. Brandon thought again, no, Adam is so caught up with her; there would be no reasoning with him. I'm just going to have to take care of her myself.

It's been two years since I had that goddamn accident with her kid and husband, she should have moved on, the selfish bitch. Well if you don't wanna move on your own, I’ll be more than happy to do it for you bitch. But I’ll need some help. He thought as he dialed DiNunzio's personal number.

With the help of the crime boss DiNunzio, Brandon was introduced to local thug Joey Costa. Joey was used for petty shake ups and the occasional hit. Although the thug was already on DiNunzio's payroll, DiNunzio told Brandon that he was going to have to pay out of his own pocket for whatever it is he needed Joey to do. Once he set up a meeting with Joey, Brandon felt relieved. He was finally going to be able to get rid of Dominique permanently. “Oh Adam would be sad,” he smirked to himself. But he'd be right there for his little brother to make sure he got over her real fast.

“Dominique, that was well worth the wait.” Adam had just come down from the erotic high that Dominique had given him. It was Friday morning and after they had made love last night, Adam slept over, and this morning, Dominique was finally able to finish what she had started days ago. He knew she was going to bring him to complete ecstasy the moment she ran her tongue slowly up and down his shaft, and he was right; Dominique licked the sides of her mouth as she lazily crawled up from being between his legs.
