NICK (Carsonbrothers Book 3)
Page 21
"Crap," I hissed as shampoo invaded my eyes.
"Wait there, I've got something that'll help," Omar said as I wiped my eyes.
He returned shortly after with a small bucket.
"We just use it to collect water for the fire when we wanna put it out, it's clean…" he said and submerged it into the water. When he lifted it out, it was full of fresh water that he lifted over me.
"Put your head back," he directed, and I did.
The water trickled over my head, doing exactly what I needed it to.
I noticed how Omar watched me intensively as the water trickled down my body, and he continued to stare at me as if in deep thought.
"Thank you," I said and he nodded before pulling his top off and jumping into the water as well.
I couldn't help but laugh as splashes of water flew over me.
"You mind?" he grinned at me and gestured to my toiletry bag. "I left mine in my tent…"
I nodded for him to go ahead and he reached for the shower gel I'd just used just as we both heard footsteps on the dock, followed by another huge splash as Nick jumped over my head and into the water.
I wiped my face clean of water and stared at him with a smile, although he looked pissed. I knew why, but Omar continued washing himself and then dunked himself into the water to rinse himself off. I handed my shower gel to Nick and he used it like Omar had.
Omar left shortly after and didn't say a thing to either of us. I was left a bit confused and I stared at Nick as he glared at Omar walking away. I knew he didn't trust Omar, and he probably had valid reasons, but it made it so awkward.
"You really don't trust him, do you?" I asked and he shook his head while still facing the direction Omar had left in.
"Especially when I wake up to find him showering with my girlfriend."
I wasn't sure if I should beam at the sound of him calling me his girlfriend, or be angry with him.
"What are you trying to say? I was out here alone and he just showed up, I didn't know. This isn't just my lake, Nick."
"Next time you wanna take a shower, let me know. I want it to be me staring at your tits as water trickles down them, not him."
I couldn't help but smile and he pulled me towards him. Wrapping my legs around him, I kissed his nose and cuddled into him. Then I lowered myself so I could help him wash his hair. He was perfectly capable himself, but I enjoyed rubbing the shampoo into his hair. I tried to use the bucket Omar had left to rinse his hair, but after two attempts he ducked under the water and ran his hands through his hair. I frowned as he surfaced the water again, still holding a bucket of water in my hand.
He grinned at me and pulled me back against his body.
"Let's go get some breakfast," he suggested.
"I don't think the others will be up any time soon, shouldn't we wait?"
"We're not eating breakfast here, I'm taking you off camp, you've been granted a day release." He grinned at me then helped me climb onto the dock by pushing me up by my bum.
Back in the tent, Nick got dry and dressed quickly.
"I'll be by the lake when you're ready," he smiled and kissed my shoulder.
It was probably for the best that he'd left, otherwise I could imagine us skipping breakfast for sex instead. It amazed me how quickly we were back to this. To not be able to keep our hands off of each other. Only, everything was different now and I'd gotten what I'd wanted the first time. I'd not only heard the words I love you spoken from Nick to me, but I'd felt it in the way we'd been together. He was so tentative and caring that it was difficult to not feel loved by his hands caressing my body.
I had to snap my mind away from fantasising about me and Nick together and quickly got dressed and did my makeup, then tied my hair up.
I found Nick beside the lake, skimming pebbles along the water. With the sun in the background along with the forest and lake, I pulled out my phone and took a picture of him without him knowing. Then he turned around and smiled at me as I took another photo. He rushed up to me and hoisted me up. "Stealing photos of me?"
"I think you owe me some," I said, teasing him.
"You only had to ask," he smirked while kissing the edge of my mouth.
I raised my eyebrows in interest, knowing he meant naked photos like the ones he had of me.
"Come on, Petal," he said, lowering me to the ground and leading me to the jeep.
"Where are we going?"
"Wait and see, nosey," He smiled while not taking his eyes off the dirt track we'd pulled back onto.
"Shouldn't we be going out with everyone else today?" I asked.
"I don't really care what everyone else is doing, I wanna be with you."
"You're going all mushy on me, quick, say something manly."
"Don't make me pull over and fuck you."
My mouth opened, resulting in a laugh from him. I loved the sound.
We drove for about fifteen minutes through the forest then pulled up to a cafe.
"What's that over there?" I asked as I got out and stared at the path leading into the trees.
"That's another trail to a waterfall."
Like the waterfall we had been to before?
"You coming?" Nick asked as he waited for me to follow him into the large log cabin. Inside, tables and chairs were lined up against the windows and Nick took my hand, leading me to one of the booths.
The cafe was empty apart from us and looked as if it had just opened. After we both ordered, we spoke about various things, laughing and joking and teasing one another until our food came.
"Here you go, kids," the lady said, smiling at us and we both thanked her.
"You're my first customers. You heading up to the zip wire after this?"
My eyes widened. "The zip wire?"
Nick smirked while shoving food into his mouth.
"You're tryna kill me," I said, sitting back and trying to be serious.
Again he chuckled and wiped at his face with his napkin.
"You don't have to, we can just do the walk… If you're afraid..."
My eyebrows raised.
"I'm not afraid," I answered.
"How did I know you were gonna say that?"
"Because I'm incredibly brave?"
He smiled at me as he finished his meal and took a drink of orange juice.
Once we were both finished, Nick took our plates to the bar and thanked the lady, while I stood stewing, thinking about what we were about to do.
Nick took my hand and led me outside. He grabbed his rucksack out of the car and placed the two bottles of water he'd just bought inside before reaching for my hand.
"It's quite a steep incline to the top," Nick prewarned. Course Nick had been here before, I should have known.
"Did you come here with your brothers, too?"
He nodded. "Well, we came as a group with the others, the last time we came camping. That was a long time ago..."
"Why didn't you bring the rest of the group today?"
"I told you, I just wanna spend time with you."
I loved hearing him say that probably a bit too much.
What felt like five miles later, I heaved.
"My damn trainer," I breathed. "He needs a smack in the bloody face."
"You have a trainer?"
"Yes, I told you I go to the gym, you already know that…"
"Yes, I just didn't know you had a male trainer."
I raised my eyebrow at him in question and stopped while Nick powered on, totally unaffected by the steepness of this damn mountain.
"I could be your trainer if you like?" He turned around and walked backwards. If walking forward-facing up this cliff wasn't enough to mock me, the twat was doing it backwards!
"I do not want to be a Delta warrior, thank you…" I carried on walking, pushing my hands onto my knees with each step to push myself up further.
Nick laughed. "I wouldn't train you like that, Petal. I'd have to take it easy on you."
I stared at him again, "Easy on
me? You think I'm not strong enough to train like a member of Delta?"
"You're assuming things now. I never once said that…"
"You insinuated it," I said, narrowing my eyes at him.
"Well, clearly you need some more help. You can barely breath."
"Maybe you should just shut up," I told him.
He eyed me, smiling and finding my anger funny.
"I'll stick with Max, he knows my body and what I'm capable of. He takes care of me just fine…" I eyed him and pushed on further, only for him to grip a hold of my arm and stop me in my tracks. It was a good job he was built into the ground like a rock because I feared we'd both fall backwards down the path.
"He takes care of you, does he?" he asked, raising his eyebrows.
I nodded smugly and pulled my arm away, only it was no use. Nick held onto me tightly and yanked me away from the path and into the trees. The incline was just as steep here, if not worse, but Nick continued to pull me through the trees before pushing my back against a thick stump.
"I hope there's no bears out here," I commented while looking around.
"You really shouldn't taunt me, Lilly," he said with his mouth set hard.
"I was only…"
It was useless, I had been taunting Nick. I didn't even like Max. He was good looking but I'd never seen him as more than my trainer.
"Let me show you how I know your body and how I take care of it," he said against my lips.
Oh boy, I was in trouble…
Infuriatingly slowly and gripping at my every need, Nick lowered his face to my lips. I wanted him so desperately to kiss me, and with his hands trailing down my sides, I needed him to stop teasing me because my body was begging for contact. He knew that, in fact he had guaranteed it which was why he was doing this. He looked at me knowingly before running his lips along my jawline.
"Nick…"
He shushed me and continued his hand down the centre of my stomach before undoing my denim shorts and slipping his hand inside my knickers.
Thank God we were far away from the path, if anyone was passing by they'd hear me moaning and hushed whimpers as Nick spoke into my ear.
"Seeing you in these tight denim shorts all the time gives me a constant hard on, do you know that?"
I shook my head and whimpered some more as his fingers took the path to my most sensitive part of my body. Once there he began rubbing little circles around my clit, making my legs weak.
"Don't ever taunt me with another man again, do you understand?" He spoke against my ear.
I couldn't answer because my legs were barely holding me up. Then he suddenly stopped and I stared at him.
"Answer me," he said against my lips.
"Nick," I begged him.
"Tell me you won't do it again."
"Nick, this is ridiculous…" I was about to push him away but he held me there.
"You have no idea what the thought of you being with another man does to me, it drives me crazy."
I stared at him and nodded. "I won't do it again."
He lowered his fingers again and slid them inside of me, making me moan.
"Oh God," I gripped onto his shoulders harder.
"That's it, come over my fingers," he said, looking into my eyes as I came undone. "You're so beautiful, baby," he said, not taking his eyes off of me.
It made me even wilder, and I shuddered hard as my body came undone around his fingers.
I tried to conceal the noises I was making, instead I had to dig my face into Nick's shoulder to hide the sounds.
Once the unreal rush of pleasure had passed, I was left feeling even weaker but deeply content.
"I love that look on your face," he smiled before kissing me and withdrawing his hand from my shorts. He wrapped both of his arms around me and drew me in as close as he could get me.
"If I knew mentioning other guys would result in a telling off like that, I'd have done it sooner," I said, slightly angry.
Yes, he'd just given me a mind-blowing orgasm, but his reasoning for it was unjustified.
"Don't do that," he said, smiling at me.
"Is that how you're gonna keep me in my place?" I asked him.
"Me keep you in your place?" he asked, sounding astounded. "Lilly, you know you only have to mention another guy's name, making me mad with jealousy and I lose my mind. If anyone has anyone in their place, it's you with me."
"It's not like that…" I trailed off.
"Really? Because that's how it looks to me."
"I get just as jealous when I think about you with other girls."
He brought his mouth closer to mine again and stared in my eyes. "I'm sorry."
He'd caught me off guard, I wasn't expecting him to apologise so easily.
I swallowed and nodded. "I'm sorry too."
He kissed me longingly and held my hand to lead me away.
"Come on, there's not far to go," he said while helping me with my shorts.
"I hope not, I don't think I can walk," I said as he led me back towards the path.
Grinning at me, he lifted me up and threw me over his shoulder. Which meant I could see the huge incline behind him as he slayed the rest of the mountain with me on his shoulder.
"Nick, put me down!" I said, swatting his back.
He did as I asked and I tried to level myself on the path.
"It's only a bit further," he said, pointing for me to continue.
"Imagine a pile of moist and warm cookies at the top, Lilly," I told myself. "Or lasagne, lasagne sounds so good right now!" I continued enthusiastically as we neared what looked like a wooden cabin.
"You jump off this cliff, you can have anything your little heart desires, Petal," he smiled cockily at me before passing and yanking me with him.
"Why did you have to spoil it?" I answered just before my eyes widened and my mouth shut the hell up. Nick had led me across wooden beams and to a wooden fence. From it, we could see the sheer drop at the other side. At the bottom was more rainforest and there had to have been a stream somewhere because I could hear trickling water. This was such a beautiful view, and I'd have been able to enjoy it a lot more if not for the zip wire running the distance from where we stood and into the trees below.
"You ready to go and get suited up?" Nick asked me.
"Oh, sure, can't wait!" I said sarcastically.
I followed after Nick and into the cabin where the walls were lined with safety equipment, all in order to survive the deadly stunt we were about to attempt.
"Hey guys, how can I help?" A happy guy chirped in the thickest Australian accent I had heard yet.
"Two for the zip-wire, please mate," Nick answered while giving my hand a little squeeze.
The next fifteen minutes consisted of this guy equipping us with safety harnesses and running us through a safety briefing, before leading us outside to the massive steel beams holding the zip wire. I stared up at the structure, sizing it up.
We were left alone for a few minutes while the guy performed all the safety checks that he told us about.
"You look terrified," Nick said from my side.
I puffed my chest. "I'm okay."
He rolled his eyes. "Lill', you don't have to do this if you don't want to. You know that, don't you?"
"I didn't walk all that way to not do it," I told him.
"Okay, we're ready for you." The guy called for us.
"Do you want me to go first?" Nick asked and I nodded, trying not to look scared as hell like he'd already accused me of.
He kissed my forehead and grinned at me before allowing the guy to connect him to various heavy duty clips that held onto different sections of his harness. He looked so carefree and excited, it made my chest swell at the sight of him loving this so much.
"See you at the bottom, Petal." He winked at me.
Then he was gone, he'd taken a run up that wasn't even required and he pelted down the zip-wire, making the most manly whoop as he went.
"Holy shit," I breathed
as he disappeared into the trees.
"You ready?" The guy smiled at me and I nodded but didn't move my legs.
"You sure?" He chuckled and I realised I still wasn't moving toward him.
I nodded and stiffened up my legs in order to move them, then he began clipping my harness to the clips like he had Nick.
"They'll be someone at the bottom ready to catch you, so try not to kick them in the face," he grinned.
"You should probably tell them to get out of my way, I have no control over my bodily functions right now," I admitted.
He laughed even though I hadn't meant it to be funny.
"You're all set, when you're ready, just edge forward and jump."
I nodded and smiled, as if what he was asking me to do was a totally rational thing. Then, from somewhere deep in the jungle below us I heard shouting.
"Come on baby, you've got this!"
It was Nick. I wondered if he could see me when I couldn't see anything but trees.
"Fuck, fuck," I began chanting before I edged closer to the end.
I heard a huge whistle and I stared back into the trees below before gulping and jumping. I instantly screamed but the rope above me yanked at my harness, creating a tension around my body. I held on tight and continued to scream as I sped forwards and towards the trees. I shut my mouth for a moment, allowing myself a moment to stare at the surroundings— the miles and miles of forest land and now I could see a beautiful stream running from the top of the mountain. It was absolutely amazing. It took my breath away as I continued to soar through the sky. I realised then that I had to stop at some point and I squealed as I neared the cabin at the bottom of the zip wire. Then Nick appeared and I wanted to tell him to get out of the way. I felt myself slowing and I stared up ahead at the rope slowing down before my body thrust hard into Nick's. My legs wrapped around his middle and my arms wrapped around his shoulders as he grunted and I took a deep breath. I continued to breathe deep as I lifted my head out of his shoulder and stared at him.
