She really did feel like Cinderella as she went to Trina’s room. “Trina I have to tell you something.”

Ivana really wished Trina could see the ring. It would be so much more impressive. Instead she put Trina’s hand on the ring and moved it.

“Where did you get that? Did you go out without telling me about it? Wait how did you afford that, are those precious stones?” Trina was full of questions.

“Stop, I’ll answer all of your questions.” Ivana laughed.

Trina tried to ask a few more; finally Ivana had to tell her again. “Just wait a second okay, one question at a time.”

“So Fred called me today, and he had me go outside. There was a plane flying by and a guy jumped out of it. He handed me this package and told me to go to the computer. Needless to say I’m in shock. But when I open it there is this ring.” Ivana stopped. “Those are dolphins on the outside with the diamonds in.”

“It feels like a really beautiful ring!”

“He asked me to marry him. He wants to fly us both to him. Fred said that Tommy was coming over to help us.” Ivana smiled.

She watched as Trina’s face got a sour look to it.

“What I thought you’d be happy?” Ivana asked.

“I’m happy but I’ll be an extra person. How can you be happy with me around?” Trina asked.

“You won’t be an extra person. Fred said you won’t be.” Ivana commented.

“If you guys get married you know he won’t take me on the honeymoon with you. He shouldn’t either, that should be for just you two.” Trina stated.

“I’m sure he will have someone who will help you while we are gone. Trina you’ll be fine.” Ivana said.

“I don’t know. I just don’t know if it’s a good idea or not.” Trina said.

Ivana was upset that her friend wasn’t happier than this. She was sure it would be fine. Maybe Fred could help Ivana find a man for Trina. Someone who would accept the fact she was blind, and treat her right. That was the most important thing.

  Chapter 13

“Okay Tommy I’m counting on you to make this as quick as possible.” Fred said as he sent Tommy off on the corporate jet.

“I know boss I will do it as quickly as possible. You know I always try to do it like that!” Tommy stated.

“Here give her this when you get there okay.” Fred handed him an envelope. Tommy looked at it but said nothing.

Fred watched as Tommy left to meet Ivana and Trina. He really wanted to be going too. But this damn stock holder’s thing that was coming up, he needed to be ready. These weren’t things he could have left with Tommy, the only person who would be able to possibly handle the job.

He had dreamed about her all night. Her milk chocolate skin would look lovely in the moon light. Fred wanted to make love to her in every room of this house. But really he also wanted to get to know her first. Rushing into sex wasn’t the best thing to do.

So he tried to think of the best way to handle this problem. How could he make sure that he didn’t just make love to her because he was so in love with her? Fred figured it wasn’t really that bad of a problem to have.

He went home and began planning the wedding. He also tried to work on the stuff for the meeting. Fred knew that it could possibly take Tommy three months, but he wanted to have it ready just in case. He was keeping his fingers crossed that it would only take a few weeks.

Just his luck he’d not plan anything and they would be back in a week! However, the fact that he had to be ready for the meeting also delayed many of the decisions he wanted to make on the wedding.

Would she like everything he did? Maybe he should ask what she wanted. Well I am the man and what I say she’ll do. He thought to himself and went about doing both jobs. Fred was so busy that day that he almost missed their regular time to talk.

“Hey I’m sorry I’m late, I’ve been really busy today!” Fred said when she picked up the call.

Fred looked at her face. She seemed sad. “What’s wrong? He asked.

“I don’t know, I thought maybe you had changed your mind about the marriage.” Ivana commented.

“No, I know I’m late and I rarely am late for anything. I just have way too many things to do at one time.” Fred laughed.

“I know now. I see you and I can tell.” She smiled.

“That’s the look I love to see on your face!” He smiled back.

  Chapter 14

“Trina isn’t excited about coming, she’s nervous. She thinks she’ll only be in the way.” Ivana told Fred.

“Did you tell her that wasn’t true?”

  “Of course I did!”

“Well there isn’t anything else you can do. Just let her see that when she gets here she was wrong.”

Ivana shook her head. “That makes sense.” She really thought he was one of the sweetest men in the world. Perhaps he was even the sweetest one!

They talked for a bit longer and she could see him growing tired. His eyes would close every once in while like he might have fallen asleep. Finally, knowing that she would have to be the one to hang up, she said. “Hey I have to go to the store really quick. Why don’t you go to sleep?”

“What? Okay, I’ll talk to you tomorrow. Sorry I was late again. I’ll try to have most of everything wrapped up soon!” Fred commented. “Good night I love you.” He said as he hung up.

Again she wasn’t able to say it within the time of him saying it and hanging up. She had to wonder if he did it on purpose. “But could I even say it?” She wondered.

Sure she really thought he was sweet, but love him? She wasn’t sure of that at all. Ivana couldn’t let herself become too attached to him. Because if she did and he saw the scars and turned away in horror. It would devastate her.

Ivana breathed a sigh of relief at the thought of him having come over to get her and Trina. She had been so frightened he would do it. That would mean he would see and possibly end up seeing the scars. Though she wasn’t sure about whether they would have sex or not.

If he hugged her the right way he would be able to feel them through her clothes. They were still quite ugly welts even all these years later. Maybe if she would have had treatments on them at her younger age they wouldn’t be so bad.

Trina had told her they weren’t near as bad as she thought. But really Ivana had to wonder if Trina was just being polite and telling her that. To Ivana they looked ugly and took away from anything her face did for her looks.

“I just don’t want him to send me back here. Maybe once I’m over there, if he doesn’t like me, I’ll find someone else?” The fear seemed to grow in her by the second.

“He’s so sweet though; will that even matter to him?” She asked and pulled up her shirt to look at the scars in the mirror.

“They are so ugly.” She cried and fell to the ground.

  Chapter 15

Tommy got into the airport and found his rental car. Fred had offered to hire him a driver. But the truth was Tommy loved to drive. He was going to enjoy this trip. He’d recently had a few issues in his personal life that he hadn’t shared with anyone. The time away would do him good.

Plus he was looking forward to meeting the woman who had sewn up his boss’s heart so quickly. He found it odd that someone could fall in love as quickly as he had watched Fred do. But he guessed it was possibly.

If there was one thing he knew about Fred Powers it was that the man was controlled and always knew what was going on! He still remembered their childhood and how they had first met. Tommy’s family wasn’t wealthy, but his father wanted him to have a good education. For that reason he had sent Tommy to a private school.

The kids there all knew his family was poor. They began to bully him and often they would say mean things to him. His father had warned him to stay out of trouble. So even though he was a bigger boy and could have handled the problem. He chose to ignore their comments.

This didn’t work though, often days he would be called a loser and worse.
>
“Hey why don’t you get out of here? You don’t belong in our school. You aren’t worthy of being known as a Westchester graduate. Westchester stands for money.” One of the boys had chided Tommy.

It was always the same thing.

“You’re just a loser and will never amount to anything. Even with going to this school, people will be able to tell you’re not worth this education. Go home.” Another boy had commented.

Their leader was a new boy who had recently started attending the school. He was a bigger boy and he decided to mix in some violence with the words.

“You need to get the fuck out of here. Go home and tell your parents you don’t want to attend here anymore. I don’t want to see you again. If I do I will make sure you don’t come back.” The boy had made a cutting motion across his throat.

Tommy hadn’t taken him serious. The other boys had never hit him. The words were hard to hear. But he could get past them. He went home and didn’t say anything to his father. In the past he had tried too. But his father had asked him if he was just a little ‘crybaby’, Tommy knew it wouldn’t be worth his time.

The next day he had gone back to school. In the hallway as he was heading to class, the boy walked up behind him.

“I warned you didn’t I?” He said and pulled out a knife.

Before Tommy knew what was happening he felt the plunge of the knife into his side. It was then that Fred came to his rescue. At that time Fred wasn’t near as built as he was now. He had been a slight little boy of 12.

Weighing maybe a whole 100 pounds if he was lucky, but that didn’t stop him for sticking up for Tommy. He had pounced on the bigger boy, and beat him down in a second. “Who would have known the quiet boy who barely weighed anything knew judo?” He laughed out loud as he remembered the day.

After he was done with the bigger boy her turned to those who had been watching the incident and said. “If any of you ever attempt anything like that again or if you say anything to him. I’ll make sure my dad has you all kicked out of her so fast you won’t know what hit you. Not only that but I’ll give you the beating of your life. Just like your little leader here.” Fred had told them.

He pointed to the ground at the bigger boy who was still crying and curled up in a ball. They had left Tommy alone from that point on. He never heard another word said to him. Some of the boys tried to be his friends to get on the good side of Fred. But he knew what they were all about.

There was only one boy who he would stick beside, and that was Fred. Since that day when they were both 12, they had been friends.

Tommy had been an excellent student and earned a scholarship to the same college as Fred. So they roomed together during those years. Tommy smiled at all the memories of the wild times they had back in those days.

Not many people knew Fred like Tommy did. So the fact that this woman had captured Fred’s heart meant she must be special. Fred didn’t fall easily. If he had there were plenty of women who had tried in the past. But Fred could see past their lies and would often turn and walk away from them.

“I can’t wait to see Ivana. I really wonder what she’s like.” He said as he was driving to her apartment.

He had put the address in the GPS and was about 20 minutes from her house according to the directions.

  Chapter 16

Ivana heard the doorbell and went to answer it. Opening it she saw a man, it must be Tommy. He was a good looking man. His Brown hair was longish, especially when compared to Fred’s. Ivana liked the way Fred looked. The shorter hair was something that had often appealed to her.

“Hi, you must be Tommy?” She asked.

“Yes I am. Your English is very good. I barely detect an accent.” He was shocked.

“I’ve been practicing for years. My parents started me when they were still alive. I’ve continued on through the years.” Ivana explained.

“Fred hadn’t told me that. I was expecting to have a harder time communicating honestly!” Tommy laughed.

The laugh changed his face from hardened to more appealing. Not that Ivana was looking for herself, but Trina did need a man. Well she didn’t need a man. It was just that Ivana felt if she had a love interest her life in America might not seem so frightening.

“Let me get Trina, so you can meet her. So you know she’s blind and she may request to feel your face.” Ivana explained.

“I’ve had blind friends before. It really isn’t a big deal!” Tommy answered.

Ivana walked away. Coming back in a minute she was leading a young girl by hand to the room.

“Trina this is Tommy, he’s Fred’s right hand man!” Ivana introduced.

“Hi Tommy, it is nice to meet you.” Trina said shyly.

“Trina it is nice to meet you too!” Tommy commented.

Ivana noticed the attraction in his eyes immediately. She didn’t blame him Trina was a beautiful girl. She was fragile looking, a person wanted to hold her tight and protect her!

“I’m embarrassed to ask this, but do you mind if I touch your face. I like putting features to the voice I’m hearing.” Trina turned red as she asked Tommy.

“No of course I don’t mind.” Tommy said as he stepped closer to Trina and bent down so he could touch her face.

Ivana watched the two of them. Trina felt his face and fan her fingers around the outlines of it. Then she touched his hair and ran her fingers over his face again. This time she outlined his lips. Ivana wasn’t sure what was going through Trina’s mind. But this might be one of the first males we’ve met in a long time.

As she thought about it, the light went off in her mind. She’s now old enough to date, at least in her mind. Ivana didn’t know if she was reading for men to be in Trina’s life. But again this could make the transition much easier.

If Trina became attracted to Tommy, she might be more than happy to go to Fred’s. Even if she didn’t get to see Tommy all the time, the pull might be enough for her. As Ivana watched Trina slowly study his face and features with her fingertips, she was happy.

  Chapter 17

Tommy bent down for her to study his features. He had done this a few times in the past. It was normally a quick process. But as her fingers touched his skin, he felt a jolt of electricity.

He liked her touch and she seemed to like touching him. Tommy felt her fingers trace his face, then his ears, and even his hair. It had been slower than most of the times he had this done in the past. ‘Plus they never touched your hair like that.’ His mind called out to him.

When she had gone back to his face again he could barely stand it. But then she had moved to his lips next and slowly ran her fingers along them. It was a slow process one in which she seemed to study every ridge of his lips.

Tommy had the weirdest feeling at this point. He wanted to sweep her up in his arms and kiss her. ‘Why is that, I don’t like this?’ Tommy thought.

Finally, she finished and he watched as she turned red. He had to laugh. He knew she was embarrassed about how long she had taken. But the fact was he hadn’t minded it at all.

Tommy stood back up and looked at the girl who had made him feel that way. ‘Hell man, she’s probably only 16 if you’re lucky’, he thought.

He felt guilt immediately at how he had felt and shame. Tommy focused back on Ivana. If he stared at her too much, he would be lost again. Those thoughts that had just happened were not one’s he wanted to feel at all.

The truth was that Tommy had just gone through a very bad breakup. He didn’t want to even think about a female, let alone think of wanting her. Tommy wasn’t into girls who were under legal age. Trina definitely looked to be under his age of choice.

“So I have a rental car and if you want we can start this paperwork today? What do you think?” Tommy asked Ivana. He was trying to not think about Trina at all. But he had a hard time; he could spot her out of the corner of his eye.

He found his eyes and head moving towards her constantly. Finally, he had to move so she was standing beh
ind him. He felt as if she was looking into his mind. Like she could actually see, and they had only lied about her being blind.

But he had seen the eyes of blind people before, so he knew it was true. He was fidgeting a lot as he wanted to turn and look at Trina.

“Did you hear me? Tommy, hey are you okay?” Ivana was snapping her fingers in front of her face.

“I’m sorry so I must have a bit more of jet lag then I thought. Is it possible for me to take a nap? Or I can go and check in at the hotel?” Tommy tried to look at Ivana and concentrate. ‘She might be right it is jetlag, or did I say that?’ he asked himself.

“You can borrow the guest bedroom.” Ivana answered and motioned him towards the back hall.

  Chapter 18

She was worried about him as she led him down the back hall. “Here’s the room.” She said as she stopped and turned on the light.

He walked in and sat on the bed. “Thanks, I’ll just take a nap, than we can talk.” He said.

Ivana walked away wondering if he was okay. She hadn’t seen that happen often in her life. Maybe once, but that was some old lady next door. At that time she had figured it was simply old age. But Tommy wasn’t that old, so what had this been?

She shook it off and went back to the living room. Trina had sat on the couch.

“Is he okay?” She asked Ivana.

“Yes he should be okay.” Ivana answered.

Trina shook her head. “I think I might have embarrassed him when I felt his face.”

“Well you did take quite a long time. But then I thought about it and I know exactly why.” Ivana offered.

Really, please tell me what it is.” Trina asked, seeming excited about the idea.

“You haven’t meant any new men since you were maybe 10 years old. This is the first male face you’ve touched in around 8 years now.” Ivana explained.

“You’re right the new teacher. He had bent down and let me touch his face.” Trina blushed.
