“We need to talk,” Charm said, entering the room. He sat up and looked at her. “Did you hire that nurse yet?”

“No, not yet. But there’s no rush. You ain’t gonna leave me out here hanging, right?”

“I only agreed to do this for two weeks at most. I have my own life I have to get back to.”

“Own life? What else you got to get back to but me?” He reached over and rubbed her bare thigh. Charm slapped his hand away.

“Stop it,” she demanded. “I’m being serious.”

“I’ve been feeling good actually. And I know the doctor said I shouldn’t, but fuck that, you’re good at riding me.” He pulled the sheets down, revealing his arousal. Charm didn’t miss the sight of his dick not one bit. Denzel’s chocolate shaft was the only one she could crave and want.

“Terrell, I’m being serious,” she said, looking away from his dick. “You need to get your nurse so I can get on with my life. And no, I’m not giving you no ass. This ass belongs to someone else now.”

“Oh yeah? Does he know that I was the one who even taught you to fuck?” Terrell grunted.

“I’ll make sure to tell him. And I think he’d thank you about it.”

“Don’t tell me you don’t miss me sliding up in you.” He tried to rub her thigh again. Clearly, he wasn’t listening. Charm raised her hand and let it fly against his face slapping him.

“I said not to fucking touch me,” she snapped. He looked at her with a smirk again.

“I love it when you get like that,” he smiled. Charm shook her head. Obviously his hearing was broken. Before she could say anything else, he was calling out for Destiny.

“Terrell, I’m still-” He waved her off.

“Destiny!” Destiny came into the room wearing a t-shirt. She gasped at Terrell’s dick and snapped her head in Charm’s direction.

“Oh no,” Charm said, backing away. “I am not interested.”

“Baby, don’t trip,” Terrell said to her. “Charm ain’t tryna ride it. My balls are starting to fucking hurt. I don’t care what no doctor got to say. So one of y’all gotta ride it.” Of course, Destiny hopped on the bed quickly like it was a race or something. She pulled down her panties quickly, and straddled his hips. Terrell reached forward and rubbed her growing belly as she slowly slid down his shaft.

“Terrell, I’m trying to tell you-” Charm held up the divorce papers, but Destiny was rocking back and forth on his dick and he was gone. His eyes were snapped shut and his mouth was open as if he was feeling pure bliss.

  “Damn,” he grunted.

  “Terre-”

“I’m trying to nut!” He snapped at her. “Either you gonna help or get lost! Since you don’t want to be my wife right now, I’ll treat you just like that.” Charm looked at Destiny riding him harder and moaning like she was some porn star getting her big break. Charm sucked her teeth hard then stormed out of the room and slammed the door shut. She went down to her room and locked herself in. She seriously felt humiliated. And she hadn’t even given the man the papers to sign. Deep down, she knew he wasn’t going to sign it in that moment. Feeling alone and still hearing Destiny moan, Charm picked up her phone and called Brianna.

“Hey, Brie. I’m a little bored. Can you meet me somewhere?”

“Wanna go to the gallery? Denzel should be there.”

“Um, nah. I wanna be somewhere different.”

“Okay, just text me, I’m gonna get in my car right now.”

“Cool.” Charm hung up and pulled on a pair of loose jeans quickly and a t-shirt before leaving the room. She sent Brianna a text of the place they could meet up. Charm had been driving Terrell’s car, and she didn’t even care to tell him she was leaving. If he was well enough to fuck in her face, then he was well enough to deal with the repercussions later. And she didn’t care about using his car for her needs either. In the kitchen, she reached for his keys on the key rack, and paused mid motion. She still carried around her own car keys even though she didn’t have her car, but the spare key to her car wasn’t hanging on the rack like it usually was. Charm hadn’t noticed it wasn’t there until now. She hummed and looked at it for a moment, before actually leaving through the kitchen door. It made sense now that her car didn’t show any signs of being broken into. Because it wasn’t. Someone had a key and put the gun in her car and locked it and went on their merry way. And the only person who had access to it was Destiny.

  Chapter Eighteen

Charm beat Brianna to the café that they were supposed to meet, but Brianna arrived just 5 minutes later. They hugged and kissed before getting a table and ordering cappuccinos.

“You look crazy, girl. You haven’t been sleeping?” Brianna asked. Charm sighed.

“I just miss sleeping next to Denzel. It’s hard sometimes. And with him being upset at me, a little bit it’s putting a strain on things.”

“I can only imagine. He’s been a little on edge too.”

“I feel like a fucking idiot helping Terrell. But then, it’s like I feel so fucking bad if I just leave him hanging like that. And you know what he did? Tried to fucking feel me up, and when I slapped the shit out of him, he gets Destiny to ride his dick right in front of me, like I wasn’t there.” Brianna gasped.

“He’s never going to change, is he?”

“Nope! And I was hoping if I helped him, he would sign the divorce papers, because I’m helping him out of the kindness of my damn heart. But he just-I don’t even know what to say about him anymore.”

“Here’s what Imma tell you,” Brianna said. “Stop rolling over and letting him see that you get to him.”

“He just pisses me off sometimes.”

“Listen, he wants to fuck in front of you, then you need to retaliate to that. He thinks that you’re gonna come around and be his, but he’s wrong. Honestly, if I were you, I would be prancing around the house half naked, getting him riled up on purpose. Then I’d hit him with the look but can’t touch shit. That’ll show him a thing or two.” Charm considered what she said. It would be the perfect way to get back at him for starting to fuck right in front of her.

“I just might do that,” She said. “I just wish he’d find this nurse already, so I can get back to Denzel. I haven’t been giving him my full attention and I do feel horrible about it. We haven’t even had sex for like a week and a half now. Every night, it’s like my pussy is talking to me, saying I must hate her or something.” Brianna laughed.

“So then why’d you call me to hang out, instead of going to the gallery and getting your ass swiped?” Charm rolled her eyes at the term Brianna used. Instead of answering her question, Charm redirected it.

“Have you gotten your ass swiped by James yet?” Brianna gasped at the question.

“No,” she smiled. “I’m making him wait on it.”

“You really like him, don’t you?”

“Yeah, I do. He’s just different from any other man I’ve talked to. Most of all, I like his work ethic. He’s a go getter, and I just wanna be with a man who likes to get shit done and make use of every minute of the day like I do.”

  “How’s his kisses?” Charm asked.

“Sweet,” she smiled. “And if I didn’t have the will power I have now, I would have given it up the first time he kissed me. But I’ve got it under control.”

“I’m happy to see you found someone. And James is really a good guy. Now I just have to find someone for Jason. But Lord knows he loves being single, cause he gets to do whatever the hell he wants to.”

“Let that man be a hoe,” Brianna said. “He probably can’t be much more of a hoe than that trick Destiny.”

“Speaking of that trick, I noticed something before I left today.”

  “What?”

“I always kept the spare key to my car on the key rack inside the kitchen. Today, when I was getting Terrell’s keys, I noticed that my spare key wasn’t there. I have a feeling it was used to get inside my car to put that gun in there.” Charm thought Briann
a was going to have an outburst, but instead she was quiet. She clasped her hands together as she thought deeply about something.

“What you thinking?” Charm asked her. Brianna turned to face her fully.

“Me and James been talking about your case. We all think Destiny is responsible.”

“She’s the only one with access to my keys. That proves it.”

“Yeah, but there’s other pieces to the puzzle.”

  “Like what?” Charm questioned.

“Well, first off, when you were in jail we were trying to figure out why Destiny would shoot Terrell. Gabby then told me and Denzel that maybe Destiny wasn’t aiming for Terrell. Maybe she was trying to kill you, but hit Terrell instead. I didn’t say anything in that moment, but I never forgot it. I don’t know to me it was just weird that she said that.”

“So then what if Destiny was trying to kill me? And she had to hide the gun in my car because she didn’t want to take the blame for shooting at Terrell.”

“Yeah, but how does Gabrielle just suggest that?” Brianna asked. “It didn’t sit right. So I told James, and he said just to watch her and see what else she does. He told me he’s going to get a detective friend of his to actually look right at the case, since the other detectives are just trying to prove your guilt.”

“So what else are you thinking?” Charm asked.

“Your miscarriage. None of us told Gabby; yet, she knows. The only other person in this equation is Destiny. I’m thinking that they know each other.”

  “Really?”

“Yes. What if she knew that Destiny shot Terrell, and what her original intentions were, and let it slip to me and Denzel that time? Just like she let it slip about the miscarriage. They know each other, I’m telling you.” Charm had never thought that was possible, but then again, with women like Gabrielle and Destiny anything was possible.

“And think about this,” Brianna said. “When Terrell was shot, you hadn’t been back to your place for weeks. You were either staying with Denzel or with Jason. So your car was never back at your house.”

  “Yeah…” Charm coaxed.

“Does Destiny know where Jason or Denzel lives? To break into your car in the first place to hide the gun?”

“She doesn’t… No.” Charm’s eyes went wide as something came back to her.

“What’d you just figure out?” Brianna asked.

“The night of the paint and sip that Gabby crashed. When I kicked her out, before she left, she turned at me and said, ‘I’ll get you Charm, and next time, I won’t fucking miss.’” Brianna had her outburst then. She stood up abruptly and squealed.

“So it wasn’t Destiny that tried to shoot you, Charm! It was Gabby! And she missed her target, shot Terrell, and is trying to frame you, because she doesn’t want to take the fall for it. Somewhere along the line, she and Destiny met. Destiny told her about your miscarriage for some reason, and she was the one who gave Gabby your spare keys!”

“Holy shit,” Charm gasped, realizing how it was all coming together.

“I’m gonna call James and tell him everything. He’ll get the detective to look into it so we can prove it!”

“And I’m going to confront Destiny, and call Denzel to tell him about Gabby. Thanks for having a drink with me!” They paid for their drinks, kissed each other on the cheek, and hugged, before rushing out of the café. As Charm drove she called Denzel.

“Gabby is the one who set me up. Well, both her and Destiny set me up. But Gabby is the one that shot Terrell. Only she wasn’t aiming for Terrell, she was trying to shoot me!” Charm blurted out. Denzel was quiet for a moment.

  “Wait, you’re serious?” He asked.

“Of course I’m serious, Denzel!” She snapped.

“You have any proof?” Charm reminded him about the threat Gabby gave to her and then told him about her missing keys and what Brianna pieced together. Again, when she was finished talking Denzel was quiet.

  “Are you listening?” Charm asked.

“Yes, I’m listening. I’m just trying to make sure I hear correctly.”

“Why does it sound like you don’t believe me?”

“It just sounds a little farfetched,” Denzel shrugged. “There’s no proof they know each other, and just from a threat, you think she orchestrated this whole scheme?”

“Yes, actually, I do think so.”

“Oh, so you’re sticking up for her now?” Charm pulled into the driveway and parked but stayed in the car.

“I’m not sticking up for her, I just want the proof before we got accusing anyone. You should know what it’s like to be accused of a crime you had no part of.”

“I know there’s no proof, but that doesn’t mean what I’m saying is false. It’s highly likely.”

“Honestly, Charm, the woman has bipolar disorder. She probably lost her temper said what she said and five minutes later didn’t even remember she said it,” Denzel said. “She might not have even meant it literally.”

“I’m not going to take that for an excuse,” Charm stated. “And you know what’s fucked up. I thought you’d be ready to take my side and excited that I can get these charges dropped because we finally pieced together the puzzle.”

“Baby, I’m not trying to go against you here, I just don’t want you to make false allegations.”

“You certainly do care a lot for the woman who was blackmailing me in the first place. And the funny part is that you bit my damn head off when you claimed I was giving more attention to Terrell. Now, here you are, sticking up for your ex that you claim to not give a damn about.”

“I told you that shit could change knowing she had a disorder. All her behaviors could be explained. I’m just not comfortable being angry at someone who can’t control their actions.”

“That doesn’t mean she gets to treat anyone how she wants! How about you support me instead of thinking about an excuse for her?!” Denzel was quiet again for a moment.

“You know what, baby? I apologize,” he said. “I do support you, wholeheartedly. I’m just being blinded by my morals. I still don’t think you should get your hopes up about this theory if you can’t prove it. But I’ll talk to Gabby myself and see if I can find anything out. Okay?”

“You mean that?” Charm asked, as a tear rolled down her cheek.

“Yes, baby, I do. I shouldn’t doubt you.” Charm sniffled. “Why you crying?” He asked.

“I just miss you. Miss us,” she sobbed. “I’m so unhappy here. I don’t know why I thought I could help Terrell and everything would be okay. And now I’ll feel like crap if I just walk off leaving him with no care. Why is it I feel that way?”

“Because you have a fucking heart,” Denzel said. “You’re heart is just pure. I know you’re busy now, but let’s FaceTime tonight and we’ll make plans for another date. I miss you too.”

  “You better,” Charm giggled.

“Very funny,” Denzel smiled. “Go on, I’ll call you later.”

“Bye, baby,” Charm said. Denzel made a kissing sound before hanging up the phone. With that phone call covered, Charm got out of the car and marched into the house. Destiny was in the kitchen, sipping on tea. She was wearing shorts this time and a tank top. Charm had to pause when she saw her, because of the roundness of her belly. It was still small bump, but still she was envious of Destiny.

“Welcome back,” Destiny said. “Thanks for taking off though and leaving me without showing me which medications to give to Terrell and at which time.” Charm knew that Destiny was baiting her, so she just ignored it.

“Do you know Denzel’s ex? Gabrielle?” Charm asked her.

  “I don’t know. Do I?”

“She said she knows you,” Charm lied. “And that you’re the one who tried to kill Terrell.” Destiny stopped sipping in mid motion.

“That bitch,” Destiny snapped. “She’s fucking lying!” Charm didn’t need to do anymore digging. Her and Brianna’s theory was right. Shaking her head, Charm just walked away.
She sent what she learned in the group text so everyone knew Gabby was part of this shit too. It just all made sense now. Especially since Charm was taking Denzel away from her. Now they just needed the proof and Charm would be free from her false accusations.

  Chapter Nineteen

Destiny knew Gabrielle was going to double cross her. Of course, the bitch would. But because Destiny knew it, she wasn’t tripping when Charm told her. She just had to cover her own back, in case the cops came sniffing around trying to pin everything on Destiny. But thankfully, her time at the hospital was well documented, and she couldn’t possibly frame Charm. What Destiny was mostly worried about was the fact that Charm was still in her house taking care of Terrell.

“Baby!” Terrell called from the living room. Both Charm and Destiny were in the kitchen, and when Terrell called out, they both looked at each other. Charm only smirked and continued cooking, ignoring him.

“You know he’s talking about me,” Destiny mumbled, as she left the kitchen.

“Yes, baby?” Destiny asked. Terrell peered at her over his laptop.

“I was actually calling Charm,” he said. Destiny crossed her arms over her bulging belly.

“Wow, so fuck me and your fetus, right?”

“Don’t be such a drama queen. Go and get Charm for me.” Destiny went back to the kitchen.

“He’s talking about you,” Destiny said. Charm gave her a look before sighing and getting Terrell’s meds from the cabinet then going to the living room.

“What?” She asked. She gave him his inhaler and watched him puff on it.

“I was just catching up on some work here, and I just saw this house. It’s bigger than this one, and I was thinking I should buy it.”

  “So?” Charm shrugged.

“I wanted you to look at it. See if it’ll be perfect for us.”

  “Us?”

“Yes. You, me, Destiny, and the baby.” Charm was bewildered. He actually had the audacity to suggest she would want to be part of his family.

“I’m not moving anywhere with you or Destiny.” But like before, Terrell only heard what he wanted to hear.
