Loving You: Mpreg Romance (My One-Night Stand Series Book 2)

“I knew that would work,” he said, getting off the bed.
Ethan sat up and took a sip of the hot, bitter liquid and moaned in contentment. Just the way he liked it, black with a single spoon of sugar. Ethan opened his eyes and saw Tyler standing in front of the mirror, fixing his tie. Ethan loved watching the cool, relaxed Tyler transform into the business mogul that he was. The only thing that Ethan still could not picture was his husband holding a weapon of any sort, preparing to kill someone.
While they were staying in Alaska, Tyler had come clean about his other job; to say that Ethan was shocked was an understatement. Ethan felt he had no right to get angry when he was not supposed to know about the secret organization in the first place. However, Tyler wanted them to be open and honest with each other.
Tyler caught Ethan’s image in the mirror and smiled lovingly at him. “I’m going to be a bit late tonight; I have a couple of meetings downtown.” He turned to face Ethan, “Maybe we can meet for dinner at that restaurant you like so much.”
Ethan placed his coffee on the nightstand and got off the bed and stepped close to Tyler, who was putting on his suit jacket. “I think that is a wonderful idea,” he said, reaching up and helping to fix the collar of his jacket.
Tyler pulled him in by his hips, pecking his lips before stepping back and lightly tapping him on the ass. “I have to go now before I drag you back to bed and have my wicked way with you again.”
“Would that be such a bad thing?” Ethan asked, giving Tyler his most innocent but seductive smile.
Tyler stepped back and shook his head. “You are really trying to get me in trouble with Lucas, aren’t you? He’s been a complete asshole since Rebecca decided that she wanted to go back to work.”
Ethan shook his head; he felt sorry for Lucas. For the first time, his brother-in-law was in an adult relationship and not with someone who was impressed with his wealth. “Go easy on him, not too long ago we were in a similar situation.”
Tyler nodded his head, kissing Ethan once more before walking out of the bedroom and out the front door. Sighing, Ethan went over to his dresser, pulling the drawer open; he stopped when he saw the edges of the envelope that he still had not looked through.
Ethan remembered with everything that was going on while they were in Alaska, Tyler wanted him to read the contents inside. Taking the envelope from the drawer, Ethan threw it on the bed, reminding himself to pack it in his case. Maybe he would find the time to read what was inside sometime during the day.
Ethan took a large sip of his coffee, humming and silently praised his husband for knowing him well. He was about to put the mug down, but it slipped from his fingers, breaking when he was grabbed. Strong fingers wrapped tightly around his throat from behind and began to choke him. Fear and shock overtook him for a second before his adrenaline kicked in.
Remembering the simple moves Tyler taught him, Ethan grabbed one of his attacker’s hands, pulling it and holding it down towards his chest. Quickly stepping slightly to the side, he swung his free hand hard, hitting the attacker in the groin a few times before throwing his elbow up sharply, snapping his attacker’s head back.
Ethan then ducked under the arm that he was still holding, twisting the attacker’s shoulder. Getting a firm hold on the attacker’s shoulder, causing him to bend over, Ethan kicked him in the crotch and stomach, then punched his attacker a few times in the face, sending them both crashing to the floor. He was shocked to see who his attacker was. Recognizing him, rage took ahold of him.
Not again, Sean, you will never take away my safety net.
Fifteen-minutes prior
Tyler got into his car, mentally going over his schedule for the day. He was going to be very busy going from one meeting to another. Tyler also reminded himself to send Ethan a bouquet of his favorite flowers. He looked down at the platinum band resting lightly on his finger and smiled.
Ethan made him happy and Tyler was deliriously in love with his man. Getting on the highway, Tyler reached for his phone ready to call Lucas to discuss the formalities of their first meeting when he realized he forgot his cellphone. It was probably still sitting on the counter where he left it. On any given day Tyler would not have cared about his phone, but there were a few notes he jotted down that he wanted to refer to during the meeting. Tyler had no other choice but to turn around and go home for his phone.
Tyler pulled up to the firehouse and left the car running. He ran inside and went to pick up his phone when he heard a crash coming from upstairs. Without thinking, Tyler ran upstairs, following the sound of another crash that came from his bedroom. Bursting in his bedroom, his heart stopped when he saw a hooded figure pinning Ethan up against the wall by his elbows.
It took Tyler only a millisecond to react by pulling the attacker off Ethan and punched him in the face with all of his strength multiple times. The hood fell off and Tyler recognized the attacker immediately, which only made him furious, more than he had ever been with anyone. Tyler wrapped his fingers around Sean’s neck and began to squeeze the life out of him.
Sean’s eyes bulged and his face began to turn blue. Images of seeing Ethan bloodied and lying on the floor from the first time Sean hurt him came back to Tyler and he tightened his hold on the man’s neck, hoping to kill the man that had hurt his husband.
A light touch on his shoulder stopped him from squeezing any more and slowly brought him out of his rage-filled haze. Tyler loosened his grip and looked up to see Ethan standing behind him. Tyler blinked a few times and looked from Ethan to the man who intruded into their home. Tyler removed both his hands from around Sean’s neck and they fell limply to his side.
“Is he alive?” Ethan asked, his voice hoarse and he winced when he spoke.
Nodding his head, he answered, “Yeah, the bastard is alive.” Tyler wanted to kill the fucker. He grabbed Sean by the collar of his sweater. “What the fuck are you doing in my house?” He shook him while asking the question.
Sean said nothing, opening his eyes to stare at Tyler and then slowly moved his eyes over to Ethan. “She was wrong; you’re not weak,” he said before he passed out.
Tyler looked back at Ethan and saw the same confused expression on his bruised face. Letting go of Sean, Tyler got up and grabbed Ethan, pulling his shaking husband into his arms. “Are you ok?” he asked, worried.
Ethan held onto Tyler tightly, burying his face into Tyler’s chest. “Yeah, I’m fine. A bit banged up, but I’m ok.”
Tyler lifted Ethan’s head and searched his face, my baby is so brave. “How did he get in here? What the fuck happened?”
Ethan shook his head. “I have no idea. But I’m so glad you came back.”
“I picked a hell of a day to forget my cellphone.” Tyler looked down at Sean, who was still passed out cold. “I need to go and make a phone call. Are you ok watching him while I go get my phone?” Tyler walked over to a picture on the other side of the room; he removed it and opened the safe that was hidden behind the frame. He took out his gun, he went back to Ethan’s side showing it to him.
“Do you remember how to use this?” Ethan nodded his head yes. “Good. If he moves, shoot him.”
Ethan took the gun; his hand was still shaking, but he looked confident when he nodded his head, “Yeah.” Ethan was staring down at Sean as if willing him to move just so that he could shoot him.
Tyler ran down the stairs and called the police and reported that he had an intruder in his home. Then he called Lucas, who answered on the second ring. “Where the fuck are you?”
“Look, I don’t have time to explain, but I need you to come to meet me at the police station not far from my house.” He hung up the phone before Lucas could ask any questions and went back up the stairs. When he walked into the room, Sean was still lying in the same spot with Ethan still pointing the gun at him. His hands were no longer shaking.
Tyler walked over to his husband and gently took the gun away. Ethan gasped and looked up at him, as if finally realizi
ng that he returned.
“I called the police, they’re on their way. I told Lucas to meet us at the police station. Go ahead and get dressed.” Tyler pulled Ethan to him and kissed him tenderly on the lips. “I know you must have been scared, but, baby, I’m so fucking proud of you. Go on, go get dressed; the police will be here soon. Put on something loose, they will need to take pictures of your neck for evidence.”
Ethan nodded his head and without arguing, did as Tyler instructed. He watched as his lover walked into the bathroom before walking over to Sean and rolling him over onto his stomach. Unknotting his tie, Tyler pulled it off and tied Sean’s hands behind his back. He rolled Sean over again and then sat him up, pushing him against the wall. The bruises on Sean’s face made Tyler really proud that Ethan could do such a good job defending himself. Tyler smacked Sean hard a couple of times on the cheeks.
“Wake up, you fucking bastard,” Tyler demanded, “I need to know a few things from you.”
He wanted a few answers before the police showed up to haul Sean’s ass to jail. Sean opened his eyes and jumped when he saw Tyler kneeling in front of him. They stared at each other; meeting the man for the first time Tyler wondered what the hell Ethan saw in the fucker in the first place. Anger boiled inside of him again and he couldn’t help it, Tyler grabbed Sean by the neck, fighting the urge not squeeze it.
“I don’t know what the fuck you thought you were going to accomplish by coming here,” Tyler said, leaning closer to Sean, who started to struggle against the hold he had on him, but Tyler did not let go. “You made a big fucking mistake. I should kill you for what you did to Ethan the first time.” He proved it by squeezing his fingers around the other man’s neck. Sean choked and Tyler got a small bit of pleasure seeing the man in pain. “Not so bad now, are you?” Tyler asked, pulling back and glaring at him.
He was so tempted to break Sean’s neck and the fear in the other man’s eyes told Tyler he knew it as well. The bathroom door opened just as sirens were heard outside and he knew that the cops had arrived. Tyler looked back just as Ethan entered the room; he looked better, but his anger did not dissipate, seeing the red marks around his lover’s neck. Even with Sean’s hands tied behind his back, Tyler did not want to leave Ethan alone with him again.
“Baby, go open the door for the police,” he instructed. Sean’s eyes shifted to Ethan and Tyler grabbed him by the chin roughly. “You don’t get to look at him.” Sean jerked his face away from Tyler’s hand and looked in the other direction.
“Everything came out all wrong.” Sean whispered. “Her plan to kill him didn’t work out so well.”
“Who and what the fuck are you talking about?” Tyler demanded, grabbing Sean by the hair.
Sean laughed and it sounded as if he had lost his mind. “All I wanted was to move the fuck on with my life and I get dragged into this bullshit. But she figured out that I didn’t want her anymore, I wanted him. I needed him.” Sean pulled his head away from Tyler’s hand and winced. “I’m going to jail; what sense does it do for me to tell you everything now?” Sean shook his head.
Tyler stared at Sean, the man looked defeated. “You tell me everything I need to know and I will tell you who killed Moretti Sr.”
That got the other man’s attention. He looked at Tyler as if the crumb of information was his only lifeline. “What the fuck do you know about my father?” Sean demanded.
Tyler smiled, “I know every fucking thing, about you and your crooked father.”
They stared at each other in a standoff, Tyler was waiting to see what Sean’s next move would be. He had no intention of telling the fucker anything. It would endanger the name of the Seeker agent who went undercover and ultimately killed Moretti Sr.
“Simone,” Sean finally answered. “She is who I have been working with all this time,” he said, pausing for a second, meeting Tyler with a smirk on his face for the first time. “Simone was also the one driving the car that hit Ethan and killed his baby.”
A gasp alerted Tyler that their conversation was heard. He turned around and saw Ethan standing behind him with two uniformed police officers on either side of him. Not caring about anyone or anything else, Tyler went over to Ethan and pulled him into his arms. The officers walked past them and arrested Sean and read him his Miranda rights. Tyler ignored everything around him, his focus was on Ethan and nothing else.
“Sir, I’m going to need you both to come down to the station and give your statements,” one of the officers said to them.
Tyler nodded his head and looked at his husband. “Are you ok? Can you do all of this today or do you want to do it another time?”
“I would be lying if I said yes. But I’m not going to break down, if that’s what you’re asking. I just can’t believe what I just heard. My own mother. Why, Tyler? Why would she want to kill me? And how did she convince Sean to do it?”
There were so many questions swirling around in Tyler’s head as well. Like, how did the intel he got on Sean Moretti miss the connection between Sean and Simone? Tyler knew about Sean’s father because of the information that Chance had gathered for him. He thought he knew everything. The other important question was, when would Ethan get a fucking break?
“Come on, let’s go to the station. I called Lucas and told him to meet us there.”
** ** ** ** **
Ethan sat on the other side of the table, facing a handcuffed Sean. Ethan studied Sean for a few minutes, mentally chastising himself.
I was out of my mind to think that I loved him.
“The officers said that you won’t talk to them until you speak to me,” Ethan said, breaking the silence. “So, here I am, talk,” he challenged, no longer feeling afraid.
Sean stared at him before placing his hand on the table and leaning forward. “Are you happy?” Ethan did not want to answer, but nodded his head.
“I hate that you are,” Sean calmly said, leaning back in his chair, not taking his eyes off Ethan. “You are supposed to be with me, I was supposed to have it all, that meant you most of all. I realized too late how much you meant to me. But Simone, she...” Sean shook his head, he looked defeated and Ethan felt nothing for him, not even a small amount of pity. “She had this way of getting to you, you know? Especially when she convinced me to kill your father.” Sean told him as if he was talking about the weather.
Ethan’s eyes widened and in that moment he felt his heart breaking into a million pieces but held back his emotions. He refused to let Sean see him as weak, after showing so much strength defending himself.
“Why?” he asked. His voice cracked with raw emotion.
“Why did she want you dead or your father?”
“Both,” Ethan said, clearing his throat.
“She hated you both, hated being married to him and you for, well, let's chalk it up to jealousy, and years of verbal and physical abuse.” Sean answered nonchalantly.
“Lies!” He yelled. “My father would never abuse Simone, physical or otherwise.”
Sean stared at Ethan as if he had lost his head, “Fuck, you really are naive when it comes to your father. The man was a fucking bastard. I saw some of the shit he did first hand.”
Ethan shook his head, not believing anything Sean had to say about his father. He was also a bit confused about something Sean said. “Wait, I still don’t get what my father has to do with you or why you would help Simone, Sean? I met you after my dad died.”
Sean tsked and shook his head. “You are so fucking naive.” It was the first time since they were sitting in the same room that Sean showed any type of anger. “I was sleeping with your mother for a good six months before we came up with the plan to kill your father.”
Ethan wanted to reach across the table and strangle Sean but held on to his anger; he needed to know everything. “Did you ever love me?” He had no idea why he cared to know the answer to that question. “All that time we were together, did you even care about me?”
Sean went to lift his hand, but
put his hand back down when the handcuffs stopped him. “Truthfully, I saw you and Simone as meal tickets. But I couldn’t stand that you and I didn’t end things on my terms, I wanted you back so that I could break every part of you my way. It became an obsession; you became my obsession.”
Sean shook his head, staring at Ethan with an expression he could not explain. “I had an end goal, and you and Simone were the only way I could get what I wanted. Your father, well he was simply collateral damage. I didn’t care if he was dead or alive.”
Ethan couldn’t believe the way Sean spoke about his father as if his life meant nothing. Was I so in love and blind to miss this side of him?
“I followed you a few times.” Sean told him. “It angered me to watch that pretty boy touch and fuck you. I was filled with jealousy that I never once put that look of ecstasy on your face. It made me so angry, I wanted to smash your face in.”
Ethan sat in his chair, too shocked to move or form the words to ask his next question.
“Everything would have worked out fine if you had just taken me back!” Sean seethed. “Simone had it all planned out and kept telling me to be patient. But I couldn’t wait anymore. I had enough of her schemes. Did you think running to Alaska would keep me away from you? I knew everything you did, everywhere you went.”
Ethan gasped, his lips trembled and tears welled in his eyes, but did not let them fall. “Were you with her when she……?” Ethan started to speak but Sean cut him off.
“Ran your pretty little ass down? No, that pleasure went to Simone.” Sean chuckled. “She really hated you and wanted to see you suffer. And what better way to ensure that then you losing the one thing she knew you cared about the most.”
Ethan’s heart was beating so loud he was sure Sean and anyone listening to their conversation could hear it. He was going to break into a million pieces.
She killed my baby, she took him away from me!
“She was a beautiful woman, I miss fucking her, making her scream my name something you never did,” he said with a nostalgic tone that sicken Ethan to his core. “But like all beautiful things, they lose their luster and die.”
