“She’s nearly here.” I murmur as I walk past Goliath, the women look up as I approach. “She’s here?” Onix pales as I stretch out my hand towards her, her fingers are shaking slightly when she places her hand in mine. Standing she looks at me, “I’m ready.” she murmurs, but I know that she’s not. Squeezing her hand gently I guide her outside, we are just stepping outside when the car pulls up.

“How can I destroy her world?” Onix’s voice breaks and I can feel the tremor in her hand.

“Sweetheart.” Her mother calls as she steps out of the car. Onix lets go of my hand and hurries towards her mother.

“Mom.” Onix murmurs just before her arms go around her mom and she is hugging her close.

“I thought you weren’t feeling well?” Her mom murmurs against her ear.

“I’ve been better.” She whispers as she leans back.

“Oh sweetheart, you so pale. What’s wrong?”

“Why don’t we take this inside Onix?” I say as I come to stand behind her, placing my hands on her shoulders I feel her body vibrating. “She still isn’t feeling well,” I state as I look at her mom’s look of surprise.

“Oh dear, of course. Let’s go inside.” Onix glances over her shoulder at me and I can see the pain in her eyes before she closes them and nods.

“Are you Hawk?” Her mom asks as I place my arm around Onix’s waist and start guiding her back towards the building, her mom following us.

“Yes, I am,” I mutter, knowing that the poor woman is about to receive the worst news of her life and I can’t do anything to help her.

“Mom, come and sit next to me.” Onix says as I stand letting her take the seat next to Onix. “I have something to tell you.”

“Did you find her?” Her mom suddenly asks before she takes a seat, her hand covering her heart, “you did, didn’t you?” A tear slips down Onix’s cheek as she nods at her mom.

“Yes, and she’s dead mom.” I stand close just in case they need assistance, but all the mom does is nod.

“I always knew that she wouldn’t live to a ripe old age, I prayed that she would, but deep down I knew.” Both women hug weeping, but they seem to be taking strength from each other. I step back giving them space as I stand by the door.

“This is a terrible time, I’m sorry brother,” Fang mutters as he comes to stand next to me, “but ever since we picked her up, she seemed to know what had happened. There was a palpable sadness in her.”

“I think as a parent you unknowingly sense when something is wrong with your children.” I murmur.

“We will find the fucker that is doing this, and they will get their peace.” Fang says as he steps past me. He is right about that, I don’t care how long it will take, but I will find the man that is killing these women and when I do, I will make him pay for the pain that he has caused so many.

“They need someone to go and identify the body,” Gunner says as he approaches from behind me. I look back over my shoulder at him seeing him approach.

“I can’t take them there today; I will see if Onix is strong enough to go in tomorrow.”

“Did you tell her that the fucker takes souvenirs?” Gunner asks as he stands next to me looking at the two women.

“No, but I will need to let her know before we go because there is no way that she will not notice a piece of her sister's sculpt missing.” I hate that she is going through this, “fuck, I hate this. I wish I could go there instead of her, but she already said that she wants to see her.”

“King said that If you want we can bury her in our land,” I glance at Gunner in surprise, usually only wolverines are buried on our land, that he is willing to open an exception to bring my woman peace tells me that he has accepted her fully into our pack.

I nod, “I will let them know and see what they decide.” Once everything has calmed down, I am going to have to speak to Onix, I want her to stay with me, I need her to stay with me, but I will not stop her from going if she wants. I know that I won't be able to stay away from my woman, I will follow her if I have to but I hope I don’t because being part of the pack is all I know, they are my family and we need to stay together to protect each other.

Onix is now the very air that I breathe, without her close I will suffocate. I need her to see that we need each other, that we will be stronger, happier together. “Also, for now you are off the hook with Trina’s death. They think that the serial killer got to her, we got information from our sources at the station. It looks like there was plastic in a role to one side and a part of her scalp had been cut.”

“We need to get inside her house,” I state looking at Gunner, if we can get a scent of whoever was there, we might recognize it later.

“Do you know how many cops have been in that apartment since she was killed?” Gunner shakes his head, “But, I was thinking that if we could get our hands on the evidence that they got from the house we might be able to still pick up a scent.”

I bump his shoulder with mine, “that would work,” I murmur, “but how the hell are we going to get inside that station and to the evidence without being caught?”

“Just be here for your women, don’t worry about the rest we will get what we need.” Knowing that I have the support of my brothers, the strength of the Wolverine behind me gives me hope that maybe we will be able to find the son of a bitch sooner than later.

  ONIX 17

Since the disappearance of Linda, my life has changed, before I drove myself to excel to do better and better for those that are less able to do it for themselves. I know that I have driven myself to the extremes because of the guilt that I always felt towards what happened with Linda when she was a child but since I started looking for her that something has changed in me.

That younger Onix that was a little wild, strong headed and lived life to the fullest has been oppressed for so long now, but since looking for Linda I have seen that Onix that I thought was lost, I know that Linda would have wanted me to live my life, she was always telling me what a stuffed shirt I had become.

I now regret not having spent more time with her, ever since going to identify the body last week that I have been fighting with the anger in me, how can someone do to others what that man is doing. I am supposed to leave today to head back home, but no matter how many times I tell myself that I should go back home I can’t make myself drive away.

I jump in surprise when I feel a hand on my head, snapping my head around I see mom standing behind me. “Sorry I frightened you.” This last week has made a mark on her, she is looking fragile like a wind could blow her away.

“It’s okay, I was just listening to the birds.”

“It’s beautiful here.” She murmurs as she takes a seat next to me, to be honest I have been sitting out here for the last half an hour or so and my mind has been so busy that I haven’t given myself a chance to see the beauty of the forest that surrounds us. The tree in which I am leaning against and now my mom too is glorious in its beauty, the whole property is a place that anyone would love.

“Yes, it is, it's calming.” Linda would love this, she always loved nature.

“You know that man loves you,” I glance at mom to see her looking straight ahead. “not everyone finds that kind of love sweetheart, the kind that is all consuming that has you wanting to be with the other person constantly, fully.” I look at her wistful expression.

“Did you ever know someone like that?” I feel her hand taking mine that is laying on my lap, turning my hand around I entwine my fingers with hers.

“Before I met your dad,” she murmurs, “I met a boy, but my father said we were too young. He asked me to run away with him, but I was scared, I didn’t want to disappoint your grandfather, so I didn’t go.” I hear the sadness in her voice.

“Did you ever regret it?” I ask.

“Many times,” she glances at me and smiles, a smile that doesn’t light up her eyes. “our lives are made of the decisions we make, some of them bring us happiness and some don
’t. We don’t always know which is the right decision, but I believe that if we follow our heart, we will always make the right decision.”

“Why are you telling me this mom?”

“Because I know that you are struggling with what to do.”

“Everything I have worked for is back home, you are back home.” I murmur.

“Have you been happy back home?” I think back and for the life of me I can’t think of the last time I was happy. If I think of the time I have spent with Hawk, even through the turmoil that has been the last few days since knowing that my sister was killed, I have found a contentment inside myself that I don’t remember having. He completes me, and I know that we are mates, but our connection is so much more, it’s like we are one sometimes.

  “That is unfair.” I murmur.

“No sweetheart,” mom says as she pats my hand, “it’s the truth, I want you to be as happy as you can be. I don’t want you to look back one day and regret not having done something. I know that your sister was wild, but I also know that she lived her life to the fullest.” Her voice cracks there but then she continues. “She wasn’t always happy, but she did what made her happy.” She turns her head to look at me.

“What do you do that makes you happy?” She asks.

“But you will be so far.” I murmur, which has her frowning and shaking her head.

“Don’t you dare tell me that you are not doing what makes you happy because of me.” She states forcefully, “besides, I’ve been thinking that I might move into town so I can visit your sister’s grave more often.” Hawk offered to bury Linda here, and even though mom and I thought that Linda would have loved the wildness of the woods, we also believe that she would have loved the company of others. I know that it’s mad that she is gone but she loved sitting on the hill overlooking the town , so King pulled a couple of strings and we were allowed to bury her in the church near the hill where she will still be able to overlook the town.

“Are you saying that you want to move here?” I ask surprised.

“No, I am saying that I’m thinking of moving into town.” I feel the tears overflow and run down my cheeks.

“Thank you, mom.” I know that she is also doing this because she knows that I can’t stay here with a clear conscience if I know that mom is all alone in a big city with no one around.

“No sweetheart, thank you. You have gone out of your way, always to help me and your sister. You have worked tirelessly to help those women and children that have needed your help. Now it’s time that you help yourself, because no one can help others if they can’t help themselves first.” Just then we hear bikes approaching, my heart starts racing as I know that Hawk is back.

Today for the first time he went out, leaving me here without him and I must be honest I have missed his presence. “Thank you.” I murmured, leaning over I kiss mom on the cheek.

“Now go and see that hunky man of yours.” I look at her in surprise and see her smile.

“I’m not blind.” She mutters playfully which has me smiling. Standing I turn in time to see the men parking their bikes. I see Hawk take off his helmet, raise his head and I know that he is scenting the area, and then he is looking my way. It is still strange for me the things I know he can do and what he is, but he has a good heart and that is what has drawn me to him, okay, it also helps that he is really hot. I smile at my thoughts as I start making my way towards the men.

“Hey sugar?” Dixon says as he walks past me towards the woods, Blue with him.

“Hi, are you guys done for the day?” I ask.

“Yip, he’s all yours.” Blue states with a wink.

I am just about to comment when Hawk has his hands around my waist and is picking me up. His lips take mine in a passionate kiss, when he finally lifts his head I smile. “You moved quickly; I didn’t even see you approach.”

“I was away from you for way too long.” He murmurs as he lets me slip down his body until my feet touch the floor.

“Did you find what you went looking for?” I know that the men went to find a drug den that the Hades have in town and apparently, they were distributing from there too. Looking at the men and the set up that they have, people would never say that these dangerous looking men are combating drugs and the trafficking of women and children. They deliver parcels as a cover rooting out the information, they need to combat what the Hades are doing in the community.

“Yes, but let’s talk about something more interesting.” I frown, what does he want to talk about? I know what he wants to know but am I ready to tell him?

“Really, like what?” I ask with a raised brow.

  “Like if you missed me?”

“Don’t you think your head is big enough? I don’t think your ego can get any more inflated.” I quip seeing him grin, he has been wonderful with me these couple of days. Patient and caring, never forcing anything but always there supporting me.

“That isn’t the only thing that is inflated, he murmurs against my neck with a low growl.” My body reacts to this man like honey to a bee. I feel every fibre of my being alive, ready for his touch, for his kisses, his loving.

“You want to take me inside?” I whisper and see his eyes darken as he looks at me.

“Are you sure, I don’t want to push you.” Since telling me about Linda’s death that we haven’t had sex and to be honest I have been missing that connection with him.

“You are not pushing me.” I murmur as I lift my hand to his neck but before I can touch, he has his hands again under my ass and is lifting me. My legs move around his waist, he starts to walk towards the house, I lower my head to his neck kissing over the faded bruising of his initiation mark.

“You are playing with fire.” He grunts hurrying up the stairs.

“Promises, promises.” I tease, one minute I’m wrapped around him rushing up the stairs the next I am against the wall and his body is flush against my body. His lips are over mine, and he is kissing every thought right out of my mind.

His hand is over my breast, stroking, massaging. I feel my nipples pebbling, sensitive to his touch. I feel his cock hard against me, rubbing as I move against him. His head suddenly raises, and he growls, “Hawk.” I murmur.

  “Fuck.” he grunts.

“What’s wrong?” I ask as I look up at him.

“Stay here!” He orders as he steps back, he is about to turn when I grab his arm.

  “What’s wrong?” I ask.

“There are Hades approaching,” he says, “Stay in the room.” He says before he leaves, which has me frowning. Since when do I hide like a scaredy cat? Taking in a deep breath I make my way out of the room and down the stairs.

“Is it true?” As I get to the bottom of the stairs Sam comes from the kitchen.

  “What?”

“Is it the Hades outside?” I can hear the fear in her voice, I can just imagine what knowing that men that hurt her are close.

“Yes, I think it is true.” She pales at my comment, “you don’t need to worry Sam, the men are all outside to meet them, they won’t hurt anyone.” She nods.

“Did you go to the police after the men got you back from them?” At my question I see the surprise on her face.

“The police wouldn’t do anything about it, they would just say that I got what I deserved.” I approach her, it is more important to have this conversation then going outside to see what is happening.

“That’s not true Sam, it is their job to make sure that the guilty are caught and not to judge.” I see a tear stream down her face, in a way Sam is still young and for those men to do what they did to her, building her fear until she fears her own shadow. Lifting my hand, I rub the tear away from her cheek.

“You are such a strong beautiful woman, don’t let them take that away from you.” I say as I throw my arms around her and hug her close, at first, she stands stiffly but then slowly she lifts her arms and hugs me back. “Now, let's go out there and show those bastards that they didn’t beat you.”
I step back and see the look of terror on her face.

“They will kill me.” She murmurs.

“No sweetie, they won’t. I will be by your side all the time.” I can see the fear in her face, I am just about to tell her she doesn’t have to worry about it when she nods.

“You will be by me?” I nod as I take her hand, we turn making our way towards the entrance. I can hear the men talking before I step outside. I see Hawk glance back and glare at me, but he doesn’t move. There are four men that are standing by their bikes with the Hades Kutte on. I can feel Sam’s hand trembling in mine, but she stands with her chin up and her back tensed.

“If you don’t stop interfering in our business, we will burn this fucking place down.” The man standing in front says.

“You can try.” King answers with a shrug.

“What the fuck do you want King?” He asks angrily.

“I want you to stop with the drugs in town, and I want you to stop trafficking women and children. Can you do that?” The man to his left laughs in mock amusement.

“You are mad, what has any of it got to do with you?”

King sends him a lopsided grin, but there is no amusement on his face, “I don’t like it.” The man shakes his head, throwing up his hands as he looks at King in anger.

“I offered you a fucking good deal, and you said no. Now you want me to stop doing business because you don’t like it?” He looks back at his men and inclines his head towards the bikes, “You are going to pay for what you did.” He turns to leave, a man to his right lifts his hand and waves.

“Hello, sweetheart, have you missed us?” He says in a nasally voice that is irritating to the ear.

“Time for you to leave.” Dash states as he steps forward towards the big mouth.

“Jared,” their leader calls as he leans forward to start his bike. Jared blows us a kiss before he walks towards his bike.

“Motherfuckers, we should have shot them while here.” Fang mutters, I see Hawk making his way towards me and the scowl on his face tells me that he isn’t happy.
