The past rushed up from deep in his mind, Branda escaping a mad man and Rain living because the snake froze in midstrike, giving him a chance to kill it. Concetta had saved them. “You saved them—Thank you.”

“You are welcome, but I still feel your sadness over the loss of your friend, Joelle. She is fine. Look for yourself.”

The light parted, and he saw Joelle smiling and laughing at something a young man said. As he watched, she was surrounded by smiling, happy people. A little girl waved her hand, and a flower appeared. She giggled and put it in Joelle’s hair. Joelle turned and hugged the little girl. She looked so happy, tears of happiness and relief rolled down his cheeks.

The scene disappeared, and the light reappeared. Peace washed over him. A feeling of being released tore through his soul. He blinked at the feeling of being free. With startling clarity, he understood that his life had just undergone a dramatic and permanent change. Euphoria had infused every cell of his body, and he knew it was staying.

A voice came from the light. “I wish you would have released her memory a long time ago. Your brothers were so much easier to lead to their true love than you. It is time you moved on and embraced your destiny. When you wake up, I want you to give Rain the test.”

Trent felt something kick him in the ass. Coming fully awake, he felt the kick again. His heart felt light for the first time in years. Smiling, he turned over and scooted down to Rain’s belly. He leaned in closely and whispered, “We need to have a man-to-man talk. I understand that you are little, but the next time Concetta comes around, you need to let your papa know immediately. No more doing her bidding without talking to me first. We need to be a team, little guy.” He kissed Rain’s tummy. “By the way, hold on for the ride.”

Trent moved up and kissed Rain’s lips softly.

She moaned and asked, “What were you telling the baby?”

“I was telling him to hold on for the ride.”

  “What ride?”

“This one.” Trent took her wrist and gave it a slow licking kiss.

A wild surge of energy raced through Rain’s body, and her nipples turned as hard as diamonds. “What just happened?” she squeaked the second her body quit shuddering.

“You just became my proven vero amore. I love you.”

Shock shook her voice. “I’m your true love?”

  “Yes.”

A smile crossed her face. “That is why all those things were happening to us. We were being guided to one another.”

“That’s right, my love.” Leaning down, Trent kissed her shoulder. Running his index finger over the back of her smooth flesh, he moved it tenderly across the tattoo of a heart with butterfly wings that looked like they were flying away. “You know we are going to have to get your tattoo artist to clip the wings on this tattoo.”

“Why on earth would you want me to do that?”

“Because I don’t want you or anyone else to get the idea that your love can freely fly away at any time. You belong to me!” Trent couldn’t help the possessive tone of his voice.

“Well, if I have to clip my wings, I guess you’ll have to change your motto,” Rain teased huskily.

Trent looked lovingly into her eyes as he ran his hand tenderly over her rounded belly. “Never.”

Her brows drew together, and he could see storm clouds gathering in her blue eyes. If she could shoot lightning out of them, he had a feeling she would.

A mischievous feeling entered his heart. He loved riling her up then kissing and making up. “I promise to always catch you and spend hours releasing all of your pent-up sexual tension.” He leaned forward and brushed his lips across hers. “Forever and ever, my fiery little angel.”

  ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Reading romance has been a passion of mine for a long time. I usually don’t have a clue what’s on TV or at the movie theaters. When people are shocked that I don’t know what’s playing, I just smile and tell them I live in a cave. ;)

A love of mine is bringing joy to others through the tales I weave of dominatingly sexy men, witty women, good friends, and scorching scenes that get your juices flowing.

Characters pop into my head, I grab a pen, and the journey begins. The trip through fantasyland to happily-ever-after is always a fascinating ride. Thank goodness it is a ride you can take over and over again.
