While Face and Doc talked, Reese walked over and studied a wall which was covered with newspaper articles. They were all about the bizarre deaths of women. Every time he came to Doc's house, Reese checked the wall for any new articles that Doc may have posted. He really got a kick out of reading them; and Reese would laugh and then shake his head in disbelief. 'Doc is a nut!' he thought, reading another article about a woman who had been smashed and her intestines were forced from her body by a falling boulder.

After Face and Reese had left Doc's house, they climbed back in Reese's Lexus, and after he started the engine they drove down the street. Reese looked across at Face and said, "You know Doc is crazy, right? I mean really, really crazy," he added. "Yeah, he's a little crazy, but Doc's cool," Face replied.

"A little? A little?! Face, the man’s got stories about dead women posted all over his wall! He's a lunatic!" They both started laughing.

Face looked over at Reese and said, "Yeah, you're right, Reese. Doc's a crazy lunatic. But at least he's a crazy lunatic that's on our team. And every time we need him, he comes through for us."

"Yeah, you're right, Face. But, our friend Doc is still one crazy mothafucker!" Reese said, as he pulled his car to the curb in front of Truck's barbershop and parked.

When they stepped from the car, Face was carrying the brown leather duffle bag. Truck was upstairs inside his office, waiting for hismoney.

  Chapter Forty-Eight

  Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia...

Pamela pulled up, parked her car in front of Veronica's house, and walked up to the front door. When she reached into her pocketbook to get her key, the door suddenly opened. Standing in the doorway was Veronica and a man Pamela remembered from somewhere else.

"Hey, Pam. I'll be just one moment, my friend was just about to leave," Veronica said.

The tall white man was staring at Pamela with lustful blue eyes. 'She's gorgeous!' he thought. 'Just like Veronica, she's a natural beauty! I want her!' he continued to himself. He was jerked back to reality when Veronica took him by the arm and urged him toward his brand new Jaguar.

Pamela stepped into the house, then crossed the living room and sat on the sofa. Today, she and Veronica had planned on going downtown to get their hair, nails, and toes done. Afterwards they would go shopping at one of the nearby malls. It was something they did once a week.

When Veronica walked back inside the house, she closed the front door and walked over to sit down next to Pamela.

"He likes you, Pam," she said excitedly.

"Who likes me?" Pam asked, coyly.

"My friend, Charles. He thinks you're beautiful," Veronica replied. "I've seen him somewhere before," Pamela told her.

"Probably on TV. Charles is a City Councilman and he is seriously considering running for Mayor in the next election."

"That's where I saw him at! On TV! I've seen him a few times," shesmiled. "And he's running for Mayor?"

"Maybe. Right now he’s just thinking about it. Anyway, what do you think?"

"Think of what?" Pamela asked, a confused look entering her eyes.

"What do you think of Charles? I can hook ya'll two up. Like I said, he thinks you're beautiful and Charles pays very well," Veronica grinned.

Pamela looked deep into Veronica's eyes and said, "Didn't you tell me your friend Charles was secretly gay?"

"Yeah, but I use protection every time," Veronica replied defensively.

"And didn't you tell me that you’re sleeping with his wife too?" Pamela asked.

  Veronica shrugged.

"I'm fine, Veronica. I don't care how much he pays for sex. I'm done with that life forever. Besides, I'm happy with me and Jay's relationship,"Pamela stated in a sedate tone of voice.

"Okay! Okay! I was just playing," Veronica laughed. They stood up from the sofa, grabbed their pocketbooks, and walked out the front door. They walked over to Veronica's Mercedes Benz and got inside.

Veronica reached down inside her pocketbook and pulled out a whiteenvelope. "Here, that's all yours," she said, handing the envelope to Pamela, before starting the Mercedes then driving down the street.

Pamela opened the envelope and looked inside at the ten one hundred dollar bills. "I see your friend Charles pays real well." Pamela smiled as she placed the envelope in her pocketbook.

"That's not from Charles," Veronica said, as she turned onto 54th street.

"It's not? Then who is it from?" Pamela asked curiously. Veronica glanced over at Pamela and smiled. "That's from his wife,Jessica. She was over at the house yesterday afternoon." Pamela sat back in the seat. She smilingly shook her head. "Girl, you a trip," she laughed.

"I know. And all my rich clients enjoy all the places I take them," Veronica laughed.

Inside of Truck's office on the second floor of the barbershop, Truck, Face, Reese, and another man were standing around talking.

"Tonight, ya'll two gone be driving inside the car behind me, while me and Vance will be inside my car. I'll have half the money with me; Face, you'll be holding the rest. When I give you the signal, that's when you get out the car and bring it to me,” Truck said. "So, I'm riding shotgun with you, Boss?" Vance asked.

"Yeah Vance, you'll be with me, "Truck answered.

Vance looked over at Face and Reese, and grinned devilishly.

Vance was a tall, slim, brown skinned man with a full beard. He wasTruck's personal ass-kisser. Whatever Truck told him to do, he never hesitated to get it done.

  "Where's A-Rock at?"

  Black Scarface

"He's over at some chick's house, but he called me this morning andsaid he would meet us at the drop-off spot," Truck replied. "But why ain't he here with us?" Face questioned.

"Face, you know how A-Rock is already," Truck stated.

“But he's been gone for almost a week! Ain't no pussy that good!" Face stated intensely.

"Don't worry yourself, Face. A-Rock will meet us at the restaurant todo the swap out with Bam-Bam," Truck reassured him.

"Did you tell A-Rock that me and Reese would be inside another carfollowing you?" Face asked.

"No. Only the people in this room know that. I need you and Reese to be my eyes and ears and hold my money 'til I give the signal to bring it to me," Truck said as he sat down on the sofa and lit a cigar.

"Truck, can you do me a favor?" Face asked.

"Yeah, what is it?" Truck asked, puffing a great cloud of bluegraysmoke into the air around his head.

"If A-Rock calls you back, please don't mention anything about me and Reese following you."

"No problem, Face. I wasn't planning to tell him or anyone else. I don't know this Bam-Bam guy. So if something turns out fishy, I want mybest two men to be on guard and ready," Truck said.

Reese looked over at Vance and returned the devilish grin. Both men couldn't stand each other.

"Just keep an eye on me and have your guns ready," Truck continued, reaching for his ringing cell phone.

  "Hello, who's dis?"

"It's me, Daddy," a female voice said.

"Hold on one second, Foxy," Truck said, looking up and around at his men. "Alright, I'll see you guys later. Be back here around 7:30."

Face, Reese, and Vance all went outside and got back inside of their cars.

Face and Reese watched as Vance drove off in a gold Infinity Q45.Reese drove off in the opposite direction.

While Reese drove, listening to his Jay-Z CD, Face sat back staringstraight ahead. He was in deep thought.

"Face, what 'chu thinkin' 'bout now?" Reese asked, turning down thevolume.

"A-Rock and this Bam-Bam guy," he replied.

"Stop worrying, Face, everything will be alright. A-Rock is Truck's nephew, he wouldn't bring no harm to his own uncle," Reese said.

Face looked over at Reese and shook his head. "Reese, how many times have I told you the only person you can trust in this game is yourself? A friend one day is a potential enemy the next.

“Too many," Reese answered, as he r
eached out and turned the volume back up.

  Chapter Forty-Nine

  A few hours later...

Inside Lil' Robbie's bedroom, he and Hood were sitting on the bed talking."Dad, do you have to go on another trip any time soon?" Lil' Robbieasked.

"No, Son. I don't have to go anywhere for a while," Hood replied, seeing a smile come to Lil' Robbie's face.

"Mom said you would take me and Arianna to Six Flags Great Adventure when you come back home."

"Oh, that's what your mother said, huh?"

  "Yup," Lil' Robbie answered.

"Well, your mother was right. Next week we're all going to take a trip out to the amusement park."

Lil' Robbie reached out and gave his father a hug. "I love you, Dad," he said, squeezing Hood as tight as he could.

"I love you too, Son," Hood replied, holding his son in his arms. A few feet away Britney and Arianna stood in the doorway of Lil' Robbie's bedroom; they both had smiles on their faces. Together they were one big happy family. Hood gave them everything they would ever need. Britney was his rock, Arianna his beautiful princess, and Lil' Robbie was his handsome prince that he loved more than anything else in the world. Only he could see his resemblance to Pamela, the woman who still haunted his dreams from time to time.

When Reese and Face left Truck at the barbershop, Reese dropped Face off at Momma's house to see Tasha. While Momma was downstairs in the living room watching Oprah, and D.J. was out running the streets, Face and Tasha were inside her bedroom.

Tasha had her hands playing in Face's curly black hair while he satbetween her legs. The feeling was so relaxing that Face had to keep himself from falling asleep.

"So, Baby, did you think about getting a cell phone? I told you I would put it in my name."

"I thought about it and you can go ahead and get it," Face replied. Tasha leaned down and kissed him on the side of his face. "Thank you, Baby. I can't stand not talking to you at night." "How was work today?"

"Very tiresome. They're working me to death at my job," she replied. Face sat down on the bed beside her. "What do you think about starting your own real estate company?" he asked.

"I never really thought about it. Besides where would I get the money to start it up and run it? I have some money saved now, but not enough to quit my job and start my own company," she continued.

Face looked over at her and with a long sigh said, "I'll get you the money you need, and maybe you can also get a loan from your bank."

"Face, starting a real estate company will not be cheap."

"So, how much do you think you'll need to get things started?" Faceasked.

Tasha sat calculating some numbers in her head. When she finally reached a figure, she looked at Face and said, "To really do things right, about a hundred thousand."

"How much do you have saved now?"

"A little over ten thousand," she replied.

"Well, I have a little over twenty thousand saved from working withTruck. I'll give it to you," he said, without batting an eye. Tasha smiled and kissed Face softly on the lips.

"Baby, that's your money. I don't want you to give me the money you’ve been saving up. We'll still be about seventy thousand dollars short. So why not wait a few years until we get all the money we'll need? I'm not in a rush," she said.

"I don't want you to keep working like a slave for them people! Whyhelp them make millions when you can be helping yourself?" he protested.

"Baby, I understand where you're coming from, but right now I can'tafford to quit my job and start my own company."

"Can you promise me something?" Face asked.

"Anything for you, Face," she promised, looking him in the eyes. "If I get you the money, will you start your own company?" "Yes, if you get me all the money I need to start my own real estate

company, I promise you that I will do it," she replied with a smile. "And how about making me a silent partner?" Face asked. "Why silent?"

"Because I don't want anyone to ever know I had anything to

  Black Scarface

do with the company we start. I don't want my name on none of the paperwork, none at all! The only people that will know about my connection to the company is my family, and no one else."

Tasha looked deep into Face's eyes and said, "I promise you, Baby, if you got me the money to start our own company, I'll handle everything. And you won't have to worry about anyone ever finding out that you're my partner," Tasha promised, then reached out and hugged him.

After a long zealous kiss, Tasha laid Face back on the bed and started pulling down his sweatpants and boxers. As Face lay back with his eyes closed, Tasha's soft wet lips and warm mouth had him lost in aworld of pleasure.

  The Lincoln Greene Apartments...

When Reese walked into his apartment, Sandy and her stripper girlfriend, White Chocolate, were sitting on the sofa and talking.

"Hi, Baby," Sandy said, running over to him.

After they kissed, they walked over and sat down on the sofa.

"Hey, Reese," White Chocolate said, grinning. Reese smiled and justnodded his head.

"What time do ya'll have to be back at work tonight?" he asked. "Around nine," Sandy answered.

Reese stood up from the sofa and looked at his watch. "Well, right now it's 5:33, and I don't have to go nowhere for at least another two hours," he said with a devilish grin.

Sandy and White Chocolate both sat and watched as Reese walked into the bedroom. They looked at each other without saying a word. Moments later, both women walked into the bedroom.

Reese's naked body was lying on top of the bed with his hands behind his head. He laid back and watched as both women began to get undressed.

Once in a while, Sandy would get one of her stripper girl friends to join her and Reese in a threesome. When it came to making Reese happy, Sandy didn't hesitate to share her man with another woman.

When they were both totally naked, Sandy and White Chocolate walked over and eagerly joined Reese in bed. Moments later, their moans and gasps of ecstasy were filling up the small bedroom.

  Chapter Fifty

  7:42 P.M., Later that night...

Truck, Vance, Face, and Reese all stood outside of the barbershop listening to Truck go over everything that needed to be done, when his cell phone rang.

  "Hello, who dis?" he asked.

"It's me, Uncle Truck. I was just calling to let you know I'll meet you at the spot; our friend is already there and waiting," ARock said.

"Alright cool. I'll see you shortly," Truck said, then closed his cell phone. He looked at them and smiled. "Okay, that was the call fellas. Let'sgo get this over with."

Truck and Vance got inside the car. Vance was driving his gold Infinity Q-45. Truck carried a black backpack, which contained $200,000 in cash. Under their t-shirts were loaded pistols; a .9mm and a .40 caliber that Truck never left home without.

Face and Reese climbed inside a dark blue Toyota Camry. They hadstolen the car from a parking lot to use it for the job. When the job was over they would abandon it first chance they got.

While Reese followed behind Vance's Infinity, Face sat back in totalsilence holding the other black backpack that held the rest of Truck's money.

As Reese drove and listened to the music coming from the radio, Face sat in deep thought. For the past few hours, something had been bothering him about this whole deal. Face knew A-Rock was a total fuck-up and all he did was use and take advantage of his Uncle Truck.

Face also thought about the new drug-connect named BamBam. If he was all that, like A-Rock said he was, then how did a small-time drugdealer like A-Rock meet him? Something didn't add up and Face's intuition had been telling him this all day long.

Face had even thought about how Mouse had been set up by his ownworkers at the house in L.A. He knew most people who played the game ended up losing because they were set up, snitched on, or killed by someonethey were close to and trusted.

Thirty minutes later, Vance pulled up
and parked his car across the street from a pizza and cheese-steak restaurant on the corner of 29th and Girard, in North Philly.

Face told Reese to stay a few cars behind them and to park the car in the middle of the block. From there they could get a good view of the entire scene: the restaurant, the other buildings, the cars, and the people. Face knew it was better to be safe than sorry. They sat and watched as Truck and Vance got out of his car and walked across the street towards the restaurant.

A-Rock and a tall dark skinned man walked from the restaurant andgreeted them on the sidewalk with handshakes and smiles.

Vance was wearing a green and white Philadelphia Eagles’ cap. If he turned it backwards, that was the signal for Face and Reese to bring the rest of the money; ensuring that everything was okay.

They sat and waited, watching as the four men stood outside the restaurant conversing. Everything seemed normal as they watched the menwalking into the restaurant.

"What's that all about?" Reese asked, his voice stressed.

"I don't know, Truck ain't said nothing about going inside of the restaurant. We'll just wait a few minutes and see what happens," Face said, his instincts screaming at him to flee. Something told him it was a set up.

Inside the cluttered basement of the restaurant the four men stood around the round wooden table. Bam-Bam walked over to a large supply cabinet and took out a brown cardboard box. He brought the box to the table and sat it down. When he opened the box, ten kilos of cocaine were neatly stacked inside; two rows of five. Vance and Truck's faces lit up with excitement.

A-Rock stood back watching in silence as nervousness and fear both filled his body. Truck noticed the sweat falling down his forehead.

"A-Rock you alright?" Truck asked, seeing his nephew’s distressedcondition.

"Yeah Unc, it's just a little stuffy down here."

Truck nodded him off and looked over at Bam-Bam.

"So, you said this was the best coke in the city, huh?" Truck asked. "The absolute best! Check it out and see for yourself," Bam-Bam said, passing him a small switchblade knife.
