Black Scarface

by Jimmy Dasaint

Inside the county jail, Face sat nearby listening to Truck and his young girlfriend, Foxy, talking. Reese was outside in the parking lot waiting inside his car. The large visitation room was filled up with C.O.s, inmates, and their loved ones.

Most of the inmates inside C.F.C.F. were young Black and Spanish men that were locked up for drug and gun charges. The majority of them were facing a lot of time.

Face sat calmly in his seat, looking around at all the people in the large room. He sat there shaking his head as sadness swept through his heart and soul. Seeing so many young Black men doing time made Face angry. He knew that there must be a conspiracy behind this madness; fathers, brothers, sons, all locked up and serving years away from their families. Leaving behind lots of lonely Black women and children without males to protect and provide for them, and all by a system that was seemingly designed to put them there in the first place. As Face looked around in total disbelief, he sighed and put his head down, feeling the pain, anguish, hurt, and fear coming from all the people who surrounded him.

"Baby, what did your lawyer say?" Foxy cried.

  Black Scarface

"He said that it don't look good. Now, I told you I don't want to talk about it no more!" Truck said. "Just promise me that you"11 be here for me," he added.

"Truck, I told you that you can count on me. I've been doing everything you asked me to do, Baby. I paid your lawyer, all your bills, and I took $3000 over to Vance's mother to help out with his funeral arrangements. I told you that you could trust me," Foxy said, as tears fell from her eyes.

Truck reached over and hugged her. Since he had gotten arrested, Foxy had done everything he had asked her to do. He kissed her on the lips and said, "Thanks for everything Foxy. I knew I could trust you. Myapartment is paid up for the rest of the year; I want you to live there. I'll just call you whenever I need you to do something for me."

"And I will Baby. You'll always have me in you corner. And I don't care how much time you gotta do. I ain't going nowhere!" She leaned over and whispered in his ear, "And don't you worry Daddy, this good, wet pussy is all yours. So don't you worry about nobody else getting it," she whispered.

Truck looked into Foxy's beautiful young face and smiled. Her soothing words helped to soothe away some of the pain in his crying soul. Foxy had a hold on his heart like no other woman ever had before. She was young and beautiful, with a perfect body and an amazing sex drive. Truck knew he was in love, but he would never admit it.

"Baby, I'll call you later tonight. I have to have a serious talk with Face," Truck said.

"Alright, just call me before ten o'clock. I have to be at the club tonight," Foxy said.

"I will," Truck promised, as they hugged and kissed goodbye. After Foxy stood up and left the visitation room, she sadly walked out of the building.

When she reached the crowded parking lot, she climbed inside of Truck's brand new BMW, started it up and drove off.

Parked two cars away, Reese was watching as Foxy drove out the parking lot. When she had disappeared, he finished enjoying his MobbDeep CD.

  Chapter Fifty-Three

"Face, I needed to talk to you alone," Truck said. "There's a few things I didn't want to say in front of Foxy." "What's up Truck?" Face moved his chair a little closer. "I had a talk with my lawyer yesterday, and shit don't look

good for me at all. There's a deal on the table for me now, for twentyfive years. If Irefuse it and decide to take my case to trial, I could get a life-sentence if Ilose. I'm honestly thinking about taking the deal Face. The Feds ain't playing. They got so much evidence and people are willing to testify against me, the chances of me winning at trial are about one in a thousand. I didn't want to say this in front of Foxy, because she loves the ground that I walk on and it would only hurt her more if she knew what I was really facing."

"So who’s gonna testify against you?" Face asked curiously.

Truck put his head down and said, "My nephew, A-Rock. He's the one that set me up with the Feds."

"A-Rock set you up!" Face’s suspicions were confirmed.

"I told you, Truck, that A-Rock was a fuck-up! I knew something wasn't right when he disappeared for that week! Damn"!

"Yeah, A-Rock had me set up and he even admitted it to me out of his own mouth. My own fucking nephew! My own blood”! Truck rantedangrily.

"The guy Bam-Bam, what happened to him?"

"He's probably back in his office Downtown. Bam-Bam is an undercover FBI agent named Jeff McDonald."

"Bam-Bam is a cop?" Face said, surprised.

"Yeah, and I found out that him and his partner Steve Powaski havehad me on their list of drug dealers for years. And they used my own nephew to finally get me off the streets!"

"Damn, Truck! Just tell me what you need me to do for you," Face said, staring in his eyes.

"I need you to do two things for me Face. First, I need you to deal with that snitch ass nephew of mine!"

"Truck, you know I don't discuss things like that. I can't give you an answer, because I don't want my words to come back to haunt me one day.But I do got your back, that's all I can say," Face grinned.

"Okay Face, I feel you," Truck smiled, knowing exactly what Face was telling him.

"What's the other thing you need me to do?"

"I need you to give that $200,000 to my girl, Foxy. She'll hold it for

  me."

"Come on, Truck! She'll fuck that money up and you know it! Do you really trust Foxy like that?"

"Face, she's all I got right now. She's been my rock through this whole ordeal."

"That's how it always is, Truck! A woman will stay around until the money is all gone, then she's gone with the wind; fucking and sucking another man…A free one!" Face said. "Do you really believe that Foxy will wait around, while you do twenty-five years in the Feds? You're talking twenty-two inside at the minimum! When you get out, all of your money will be spent and she'll be fat, with two kids, from another locked-up drug dealer. So please Truck, don't make that mistake and have me give her that money."

After a long sigh Truck said, "Then what should I do with it?"

"Give it to me, Truck! I'll take care of it and you have my word that you'll never want for anything as long as you're in prison," Face promised.

"And what would you do with all that money? You're only eighteenyears old, Face."

"Yeah, I am. But believe me Truck, when I tell you that I have the mind of a man much older; with the will and desire to succeed. Plus, I willnever, ever, in my life cross a friend," Face swore.

Truck grinned at Face and shook his head. He knew the type of man Face was. He knew Face was the type of man that could be trusted and counted on. Truck didn't have many friends, but he considered Face one of his few.

As he stared into Face's eyes, he saw the look of a hungry young lion; one that was determined to succeed at all costs. When he had first met Face, he knew this, and that is what had drawn him to the eager man, and convinced him to give the young lion his first chance in the business. He had not been disappointed with his decision so far. Now Truck knewhis time had finally come, and it was time to pass the torch to his young friend.

"Keep the money, Face. Just promise me one thing," Truck said, seriously.

"What's that Truck?" Face said, a look of excitement in his eyes. "Promise me that you'll be the one that makes it."

Face reached out and shook Truck's hand. "Truck, I was

  Black Scarface

born for this. But the only promise I will make you is that I'll never forget a friend. And I'll never forget what you did for me." Both men stood up and gave each other a brotherly hug.

"Be safe out there, Face. The streets ain't nothing nice. Watch the watchers…the Feds, the snitches, informants, and the deceitful women."

"Don't worry Truck, I will. Do you know where the Feds have A-Rock at?" Face asked casually.

"No. Probably Downtown somewhere," Truck answered. "Hiding him in some safe house 'til it's time
for him to testify or set somebody else up. A-Rock will always be a snitch on the Fed’s payroll and they'll use him to the very end," he added.

After Face and Truck shook hands again, both men went their separate ways. Face out the exit door to freedom and Truck back to his small, cold, two man cell, to begin his new life in bondage at the hand of his government; a grim reminder of what the country was coming to.

When Face got inside of Reese's Lexus, he closed the door. "What's up? Why are you smiling?" Reese asked as he started his

  car.

"Reese, Truck gave me the money!" Face said excitedly. "He what?"

"He gave me the two hundred grand! Every single penny!" Face

  said.

"How the fuck did you pull that off, Face?" Reese asked with a perplexed look on his face.

"With honesty Reese; I told Truck that if he gave me the money he’d never need for anything while he's in prison. I gave him my word and he accepted it," Face replied.

  "So, Face, what's next?"

"I'm gonna give you twenty-five thousand dollars of the money. It'syours to do whatever you like."

Reese smiled. "So, what will you do with the rest?"

"Invest it," Face said with a grin.

  "In what?" Reese asked.

  “Our future," Face answered.

"Okay, Face, do what 'chu do, you got my full support," Reese assured him.

"There's more," Face said, as his expression changed.

Reese recognized the serious look in Face's eyes and asked, "What else is it, Face?"

"We have to find A-Rock and kill 'em. He's the one that set Truck up with the Feds," Face replied, looking across the car at Reese.

"A-Rock! His own nephew?!" Reese asked in a surprised voice. "Getthe fuck outta here!" he added.

"It's true, Reese, and that guy, Bam-Bam, was an undercover FBI agent named Jeff McDonald. A-Rock is waiting to testify against Truck if Truck decides to take his case to trial. He's facing a lifesentence if he do;twenty-five if he take the deal the prosecutor is offering him and his lawyer," Face said.

"That's fucked up! Even for a coward!" Reese said as he pulled off in his car. "Don't worry, Face, if A-Rock ever shows up, he's a dead man. 'Cause the one thing that's worse than a scared, pussywhipped coward, is a scared no-good-ass-snitch that set up his own blood!"

  Chapter Fifty-Four

  Later that evening...

Inside the secret stash-house in Northeast Philly; Hood, Ron Perry, and Killa-D all sat around a large round wooden table. 300 kilos of cocaine were scattered around on the table and the floor. Two nights earlier, Hood hadreceived a shipment of 500 kilograms from the Gomez brothers. Since then, they had sold 200 kilos, and at the rate they were moving it, the restwould be gone shortly.

"I heard some more info on Truck," Ron Perry said, with a grin.

"What did you hear?" Hood asked. He stood up from the table, walked over by the wall, and picked up a black Adidas sports bag.

"Truck is about to take a deal for twenty-five years, and it was his own nephew that set him up with the Feds," Ron said, with laughter.

"Good! Fuck ‘em!" Hood said, as he sat back down at the table and sat the bag in front of him. "His own nephew set him up? Niggaz ain't shit!" Killa-D exclaimed. "You can't trust nobody these days," he added.

"That's why I keep my circle small. Ya'll are the only two I trust in this ugly game," Hood said authentically. "I've seen too many people get crossed by a friend or loved one," he added, then unzipped the Adidas bag and poured its contents out onto the top of the table.

Bundled fifty and hundred-dollar bills poured out into a pile. "So, Killa-D, did you get that girl you been after that works at the club?" Hoodasked, pushing piles of money toward him and Ron.

"Not yet, but I’m ‘a get her fine ass, soon. And when I do,

Im‘a fuck the shit outta her!" Killa-D remarked.

"So, what's the problem?" Ron asked, as he counted a

  stack of hundreds.

"She got a boyfriend," Killa-D said.

"That ain't never stopped you before," Hood said. He and

  Ron laughed.

"And I won't let it stop me this time. Sooner or later I'll get

  her," Killa-D said.

  "Who's her boyfriend?" Ron asked.

"Some young nigga named Reese. I hear he's a petty drug dealer that worked for Truck. I also heard that he play with them guns real heavy," Killa-D replied.

"Well, if it's true what you said about this guy Reese, then he won't be in your way for long," Ron said, as he wrapped a thick rubber band around another stack of hundred dollar bills. "Why's that?" Killa-D asked.

"Because Truck won't be around to feed 'em for at least twentyfive years. And one thing about them women, when the money stops coming in, they start running off. Just give it a little more time Killa-D, and that girl will be breaking her neck to give you some pussy," Ron answered confidently.

"He's right, Killa, once the head of any organization gets knocked-off, the body soon dies. Then the only way the body can survive is when another stronger, wiser head takes its place. I'm sure Truck ain't have nobody around him like that. This city is full of soldiers, but it's hard to find a good leader nowadays. That's why my run has been so long; ain't nobody out here thorough enough to

come and challenge me for thethrone," Hood said in a serious tone. Ron and Killa-D both shook their heads, knowing that Hood

  was right once again.

  California...

Inside San Quentin, California's Maximum-Security State Penitentiary, Quincy was inside a cell all alone, reading one of the four new novels Face had sent him through the mail. Whenever Quincy wasn't at the weight pile working-out, he would be inside his cell reading, and thinkingabout life on the outside.

Since he had been a young teenager, prison life was all he had known. But something deep inside of him wanted more. He craved a taste of the outside world, and he had promised himself once he got his freedom, he would never be back in prison again. And that he would never wear handcuffs, either. If there was ever a next time, he swore to himself to hold court in the street and deal with the consequences.

"Say Q, you got a minute?" a man said, standing right outside his cell door.

"Yeah, Sniper. Come on in," he replied, as he laid the book down on his bed.

Sniper walked inside the cell and they shook hands.

  "What's up?" Quincy asked.

After a long sigh, Sniper said, "I overheard-some real distressing news, Q."

Quincy saw the serious expression on Sniper's face and said, "What did you overhear? And who said it?"

"I was sitting on the bleachers just now, watching the guys play basketball, when I overheard two guys behind me talking and laughing about a double homicide they got away with."

"So what? There's a lot of niggaz that killed people and got away with it," Quincy said. "Look at O.J.," he added.

"Yeah, but these people were talking about two people they killed inside of a house."

"So what? Just get to the point, Sniper!"

"One of the people they mentioned was a woman named Peaches,"Sniper said.

Quincy stood up from his bed and said, "what else did these two fools say?"

"They were talking about how they used to give her crack to have sex with her. Then, one of them said it was too bad they had to get rid of her, because Peaches gave the best head in all of L.A. While they was talking and laughing, I just sat back and listened," Sniper replied.

"Who is these two niggaz?" Quincy asked, upsettingly.

"Their names are Ty-Bud and Wizard. They are two Bloods from theNicholson Gardens. And they are both serving twenty years for the armed robbery of a Korean grocery store. I'm sorry to have to tell you this bad news, 'Cuz, but I remember you telling me that your mother, Peaches, and her fiancé had been gunned down inside their bedroom about six years ago. When I heard the two fools talking, I put two and two together and realized they were talking abou
t your mother and stepfather," Sniper said.

Quincy paced back and forth inside his cell. He had deep seeded pain resting inside his eyes.

"What 'chu gonna do Cuz? I'm down for whatever. Just say the word," Sniper said.

"You already know what I’m ‘a do. Just show me what these fools look like and I'll take it from there," Quincy said, as he walked out of his cell with Sniper close behind him.

"We have to plan this thing out right, Q. We can't be sloppy."

"Don't worry, 'Cuz. When it's time to take care of these two fools, they won't know what hit 'em and we'll be in and out before anyone knows what happened to them."

  West Philadelphia...

When Face walked into Momma's house, she was asleep on the sofa. Tasha was sitting in a chair across from her, reading some material fromher job.

"We need to talk," Face said with a big smile on his face. Tasha saw the excitement in his eyes and quickly stood up from her

  seat.

"What's in the backpack?" she asked.

"Come on, I'll explain everything to you upstairs in your bedroom," Face said.

Tasha sat down her job materials and followed Face up the stairs. When they both entered the bedroom, Tasha closed and locked the door behind them; then they sat on the bed beside each other.

"Now, tell me what's the big surprise you got for us?" Tasha said. "You can quit your job Baby! I got us all the money we need to start our own real estate company," Face said excitedly. "What?! Are you serious, Face?"

"I'm dead serious Tasha," he replied, as he unzipped the backpack and dumped out all the money.

Tasha's eyes widened with excitement. It was the most cash she had ever seen in her life. "Baby, how... how... did you...do it?" she asked nervously.

"It don't matter how I did it. It's done. Now, are you gonna do what you promised me?" Face smiled.
