“I can’t keep my hands off you.” He caressed her neck with his warm lips. “I won’t rush you, but I need you in my bed. I can show you things, do things to you all night long.”

She wanted to know what kind of things, but she was too caught up in what he was doing to her now to focus on anything other than the moment.

“Will you come back to my place with me tomorrow night?” He pushed his fingers under the elastic of her panties, seeking out her entrance. “Please.”

“Yes,” she moaned when he dipped his finger inside her slit.

“I know I have to stop.” He kissed her hair. “You’re so tempting.”

“I don’t want you to.” She spread her legs and rocked into his fingers, causing him to slip deep inside her folds. The fire had been building between them for weeks. Even the public kissing had gotten out of control, but he had been adamant about not being alone with her.

  “Are you sure?”

“Yes.” She arched her back when he curled his fingers inside her.

“This is okay?” He moved his fingers in and out of her, making her wetter with each stroke.

“This is better than okay.” She moved her hips in time with his pace. “That feels so good.”

“You little vixen.” He squeezed her breasts as he fingered her fast. “My dirty girl.”

“Oh...” She gripped the edge of his desk when he pinched her nipple. “Tyler...”

  “You like that?”

  “Yes, I’ve never... Oh...”

No one had ever made her feel like this. Her head was light, but her insides pulsed with a quick intensity. Every time he brought her to the brink, he pulled back and slowed down. Did he know he was doing that? She had never had an orgasm before, but her body did this strange teetering thing. Her muscles tightened and her clit throbbed, but then he would slow down and rub her folds, abandoning her sensitive spot.

Her heart raced and echoed between her ears like a train whizzing by her. She could hear him murmur against her hair, but she couldn’t make out what he was saying. Everything moved at a fast pace. She had lost focus on her surroundings a few seconds ago, and now the only thing she could concentrate on was when the next climb would occur. The one that caused her body to tingle and clench around his fingers. When would she release?

“Let go, baby,” he whispered, centering her thoughts. “I know you want to.”

  “I don’t know how.”

“Don’t think.” He pressed his thumb against her clit as he tickled her folds. “Just feel.” He gently placed his hand on her throat and guided her mouth to his. “Come for me.”

His words were her permission to finally let her pleasure take over. He concentrated on that one spot that halted the insanity. A wave of desire filled her before a warm rush of heat coursed through her and settled between her legs. She closed her eyes and twisted in his lap, leaning her head into his shoulder as she released, shuttering against him. She couldn’t control the tremors.

He placed a soft kiss on her forehead before he withdrew his fingers. “Feel better?”

“That was...well, I don’t think I can describe it. I do know I want to do it again.”

“I’m glad to hear that, but maybe next time we could find a more appropriate place to play.”

Panic set in when she remembered where they were. “I have to get back to work.” She fixed her blouse and tried to get up.

“Baby, it’s after hours. I was teasing.” He laughed. “No one is even here.”

When he shifted his position, his erection grazed along her thigh. Several ideas passed through her mind, but she didn’t think she could go through with any of them right there in his office.

“What about you?” She glanced between his legs, spying an impressive package straining against his zipper. The pulsing deep inside of her started up again. “Maybe I could help?”

“That’s very sweet of you.” He took her chin in his hand. “But not necessary. I couldn’t seem to keep my hands off you. That’s a testament to your beauty.” That grin of his could charm her panties right off. “I promised you no pressure when it came to being physical.”

  “You’re not pressuring me.”

“What is it you want to do to me right here in my office, my little virgin?”

“I could, um, well...” She knew what she wanted to do, but didn’t know if she had the nerve. “You know.”

“Yes, I do know.” He kissed her. “I’m not going to let you. Not here and not now.”

“How come?” Part of her was disappointed that he didn’t want her to go down on him, but a larger part was relieved. She may have been a virgin, but she did have a couple of boyfriends in high school and college. Sex was a foreign idea, but, like any teenager, she’d experimented with her sexuality, just not with a man like Tyler. His experience and confidence scared her. Would she be good enough for him? Could she satisfy him?

“I want to cherish you and do things the right way.” He stroked her cheek. “I can be as patient as you need me to be.”

“I want to spend the night with you after the gala. We can do things the right way tomorrow night.” Her insides blazed with desire. “I want to be with you.”

“No pressure.” He kissed her soft and slow. “We’ll see what tomorrow night brings.”

I know what it will bring!

  Chapter 6

Sammy clung to Tyler’s hand as they stepped out of the sleek, black limousine. He warned her that the cameras would flash nonstop as they entered the gala.

“Stay close to me,” he whispered into her ear. “You’re fine.”

With the bursts of lights came a barrage of questions in their direction.

“Now that Spencer is married, that makes you the most appealing Cannon. How’s that feel?”

  “Tyler, who’s your friend?”

“Tyler, what’s it like being the only eligible bachelor in the Cannon clan now?”

When they got to the entrance, he placed his hand on the small of her back and turned, shooting the press his most stunning smile. “Who says I’m eligible?” he answered them as he ushered her into the reception.

“What’s her name?” someone shouted as they hurried into the building.

“Wow.” She giggled. “You weren’t kidding when you said that would be nuts.” An amazing rush filled her as they walked through the lobby. “I feel like a celebrity.”

“You may have to get used to it. The local press and society pages took a bigger interest in me once Spencer came off the market. I was usually the Cannon known for frequenting the clubs and after hour parties, but since I don’t do that anymore they need a new angle. Now, I’m some advertising heir who needs a wife.”

“Which title do you like better?”

“Wouldn’t you like to know?” He squeezed her hand. “I’ll keep you guessing.”

“Tyler,” a vibrant woman called from across the foyer. “Over here.”

“Mother.” He smiled as she came closer to them.

“That’s your mom?” Sammy watched as the gorgeous woman with the petite frame and long, flowing copper hair came over. “She’s beautiful.”

“She’s going to love you.” He led Sammy toward his mother. “If you thought the paparazzi was overwhelming, wait until you get a load of Jenna Cannon.”

“There you are.” His mother leaned in and gave him a kiss. “Your brother was getting worried, but I told him you like to make an entrance.”

Spencer and Coda joined them, looking as if they had stepped off the runway. Spencer wore a black tux, and Sammy couldn’t get over how much Tyler resembled his older brother. They could be twins.

While Spencer was something to look at, Coda stole the show. She reminded Sammy of a movie star working the red carpet in her sheer white gown, spotted with beads. Her flawless skin held a bronze glow from the time she’d spent on the beach during her honeymoon, accentuating her dark brown eyes and shiny, sleek hair. Her arms were toned, but not excessively muscular. Sam
my couldn’t find one visible imperfection. From Coda’s makeup and jewelry all the way down to her open-toed silver heels, the woman screamed eloquence and sophistication. Sammy wondered if she could ever strive to be half the woman Coda appeared to be.

“Glad you made it,” Spencer said.

“We’re not that late,” Tyler said. “Besides, they always make us stand around in the lobby waiting for them to open the ballroom doors at these functions.”

“That’s how they get us to write all of those big checks at the auctions.” Spencer motioned to a large area set up with baskets. Tyler had explained to Sammy that Cannon Advertising was holding a silent auction for a local charity.

  “Hi,” Sammy said to them.

“You look spectacular.” Coda kissed her cheek. “I knew you would.”

“Thanks to you, but your dress is incredible. It’s like something you see on TV at those award shows.”

“Spencer’s friend, Kendal, owns a fantastic boutique here in the city. I’ll take you there for the next function. We’ll have Tyler buy you a dress of your own.” She smirked at her brother-in-law.

“Tyler,” his mother said. “Don’t be rude. Introduce me to your friend.”

“I was getting to that.” Tyler guided Sammy to stand in front of him. “Mom, this is Sammy Falcone. Sammy, this is my mother.”

“Hello, Sammy. It’s wonderful to meet you,” Mrs. Cannon said.

  “Hi, Mrs. Cannon.”

“Oh, no, sweetie, Mrs. Cannon makes me sound old, doesn’t it? Call me Jenna.” She pulled Sammy into an unexpected hug. “I’m so happy Tyler brought a date, and a stunning one at that. You’re adorable.”

“Thank you.” Sammy looked around the massive area. The foyer was decorated with soft colors, and roses were everywhere. There had to be at least five hundred roses. “This place is something.”

“Did you survive the vultures outside?” Jenna asked. “They never leave us alone, especially when we’re doing something special.”

“I’ve never experienced anything like that before,” Sammy said.

“You’ll get used to it.” Coda laughed. “I thought it was a total rush the first two times, but now it’s old.”

“Oh my God, I told Tyler the same thing. It was invigorating.”

“Stick with me and you’ll be bombarded often,” Tyler said. “It’s a curse, really.”

“Are you related to our Coda?” Jenna asked as she studied Sammy’s face. “It’s uncanny.”

“What is?” Sammy suddenly felt under observation.

“It’s her Brooklyn accent.” Coda giggled. “And the way she talks with her hands. We all do it in Brooklyn.”

“Seriously, Mom,” Tyler said. “Just because they’re both from Brooklyn doesn’t mean they’re related.”

“Is it me?” Jenna asked. “Look at their eyes and skin coloring. Their hair even has the same caramel highlights running through it.”

Spencer moved in closer, staring more intently at Sammy, making her feel unnerved in his presence. Sammy smiled at him, hoping he’d back off.

“From behind, in that dress,” Jenna continued, “I would have thought you were Dakota.”

“Coda was kind enough to lend me the dress. That’s probably why I remind you of her.” Sammy suppressed the urge to fidget with her hands. Please drop this.

“We do resemble one another,” Coda said.

“Do we?” Sammy asked. “I hadn’t noticed, but it’s a huge compliment to be compared to Coda.”

“It’s the Italian features,” Coda said. “Dark hair and eyes, same skin tone. Our families probably originated from the same area in Italy. I’m Sicilian, what about you?”

“I don’t know.” Sammy shook her head. “I never asked my grandparents about that.”

“I happen to think you’re both incredibly gorgeous in your own unique way.” Tyler placed his hand on the small of Sammy’s back. “That settles that.”

“Spoken like a Cannon man,” Jenna said. “Where did you meet this lovely young woman?”

“Of all places, the wedding,” Tyler told her.

“Were you a guest?” Jenna asked. “I’m sure I would have remembered such a beauty.”

“No, we met in the lobby of the hotel,” Sammy explained.

“Tyler tried to pick her up,” Coda said. “Sammy was too smart for him.”

“Good for you.” Jenna tousled Tyler’s hair. “You have to watch him.”

“Hey.” Tyler backed away from his mother. “Don’t mess up my hair.”

“It doesn’t even look like you combed it,” Spencer said. “You need a haircut.”

“I’m not in the office,” Tyler reminded him. “And we were talking about how I met Sammy.”

“I never asked what you were doing in the hotel that night.” Spencer turned his attention back toward Sammy.

“I was playing a private reception.” Sammy felt bad about not telling the truth. When she told Tyler what she was doing there the night of the wedding, she didn’t think she’d ever see him again. How could she have known less than a month later she’d be standing at a ritzy gala with all of the Cannons?

  “At the hotel?” Spencer asked.

Before she could answer, Jenna saved her from having to elaborate any further.

“Are you a musician?” she asked.

“I play the cello at the Brooklyn Conservatory,” Sammy said. “Sometimes I pick up work playing weddings and small affairs.”

“That’s impressive.” Jenna smiled. “My late husband was a musician as well as Spencer. Our family has such an appreciation for the arts.”

“Look.” Tyler nodded toward the main ballroom. “They’re letting us in.”

“Then I guess I’ll see you inside,” Jenna said. “Coda, we need to go bid on that bracelet we saw earlier.”

“We’ll meet you over there.” Tyler pointed toward the bar. “I want to get a drink before we head in.”

Sammy followed Tyler across the room and to a small bar set up in the corner.

“Your mom is fantastic,” she said. “She’s beautiful.”

  “I knew she’d adore you.”

  “How come?”

“Because I do.” He kissed the tip of her nose. “You look amazing tonight.”

“You told me three times already.” She giggled. “I don’t mind.”

“I’m sure I’ll tell you several more times before the night is through.”

“I think you look pretty hot yourself, Mr. Cannon.” She placed her hand on his chest. “I like when your hair is messy. It’s sexy.”

“Hmm, then I guess Spencer is going to have to put up with it at the office too.” He smirked the way he did when he was being devious. “I’ll kill two birds with one stone.”

  “What do you mean?”

“I’ll impress my main girl and I’ll piss my brother off. It’s a win-win.”

“You like to push your brother’s buttons, don’t you?”

“It’s all in good fun. He can be too serious. He needs me and Coda to remind him he’s not even thirty.”

“He’s really intense,” she said. “A bit intimidating.”

“That’s what makes him so good at what he does.” Tyler motioned for the bartender. “Want a glass of champagne?”

“I’ve never had that before.” She looked around the room at the beautifully dressed people. Everyone looked happy and carefree. It was contagious. “I’d love a glass.”

“Tonight is going to be about many firsts, Sammy.” He placed a chaste kiss on her lips, but that simple gesture sent a charge through her. “I’m going to give you everything you’ve ever dreamed of, and more.”

“You already have.” She took a breath to center herself. “I would never have imagined I’d be standing here, in a place like this, with you tonight. I feel like I’m dreaming.”

“That’s exactly how I feel when I’m with you.” He stared into her eyes. “I don’t know how I got this lucky. I wasn’t looking for
you, but here you are.”

“Life is full of surprises.” He had been the best unexpected thing that had ever happened to her.

“I have many weekend surprises in store for you.”

TYLER SIPPED HIS SCOTCH as he watched Coda and Sammy move onto the dance floor. Sammy shot him a seductive, little smile before blowing him a kiss.

  He nodded at her.

Soon, my sexy girl, very soon.

“Why aren’t you out there yet?” Spencer asked as he came up and stood next to Tyler. “You and my wife are usually tearing up the floor by now.”

“Coda grabbed Sammy while I was talking to Grandfather,” Tyler said. “We’re not staying much longer.”

Now that dinner was done and the announcement that the agency was changing its name was out of the way, Tyler couldn’t wait to start the night alone with Sammy. It had been a long week.

  “Big plans?” Spencer grinned.

  “I hope so.”

  “Oh, so it’s like that?”

“Don’t pry.” Tyler placed his empty glass on the table behind them. “It’s not polite.”

“Pry? Usually you can’t wait to tell me about your conquests. In great detail, I might add.” Spencer shook his head. “I don’t know where you get your energy.”

  “This time it’s different.”

“Really?” Judging from the tone in Spencer’s voice, he didn’t believe Tyler’s declaration.

“She’s different.” He watched as she swayed her hips to the music and she laughed about whatever Coda had said in her ear. “I know it’s fast and I don’t tend to over analyze my relationships.”

“You haven’t had any serious relationships. You’re a player.”

“That’s what I’m saying. With Sammy around, I don’t even think about other women. Do you know how many texts I haven’t responded to since meeting her? Hell, I haven’t even been on social media. I don’t need to be.”

“I’m impressed.” Spencer studied the two women. “I hope it works out for you. She seems like a sweet girl.”
