  Heaven

Jeriah was tired of being on the lowest level. He has tried everything to get back in God’s good graces. How was he supposed to know that going to earth without permission would land him here? He’s seen countless angels being promoted to being a Guardian, but he was stuck. He’s begged and pleaded but God still would not speak to him. He was pissed, and he was going to find a way off this tier. He’s thought long and hard about how he could finally be free, and he’s come to the conclusion that he has to be a part of the prophesy. He just has to marry the seed of an upper angel and he will have unlimited power. It sounds easy, but no female child had been born in eons. He could only watch as the Top Angels go to earth and procreate with the humans. Nothing but males born. Every job that he had assisted with, he would take a woman or two but being a lesser angel now, he didn’t have the ability to have children. That was reserved for the Upper Tier. He had been watching all of the angels as they ascended back to heaven to see if they were successful in procreating, but none were. One day, he noticed a change in Assan as he passed the Lower Tier. He had done it. He could feel it. Assan had found a human and placed his seed within her, so Jeriah watched with anticipation. When heaven found out that the baby was a female, all of heaven was rejoicing. It had been so long since a female had been born and this was exciting. Jeriah knew what he had to do. He would wait on the Angel Assan to meet his daughter and get called back up to heaven before he made any move. He couldn’t risk anything going wrong. He knew that when Assan got called back up to heaven, he would be stuck there until God released him to come back to visit. This was his chance to make a move. Once he did, he would take his place back up where he belonged. He was ready for his place back, and he and would even take some of his brothers from this tier with him. What better way to show his mercy. He had been diligent in watching and waiting for years for a female child to be born and finally after so many male children, a woman child was born. All he had to do was to marry her and he would have what he always wanted. Power.

  ANALISE

Analise was pissed. They had her right in their grasp and she was gone. How could they have lost her. She had a feeling that Mary had something to do with this.

“I thought that you were watching her!” Analise screamed at Jeffery.

“She was knocked out! How was I supposed to know that she was going to wake up?”

“You are supposed to be this great warlock, and you can’t even look after a hurt girl.”

  “I’m not a babysitter, Analise.”

“And you aren’t a great warlock either. Find her, Jeffery or I swear that I will make sure that you don’t see another birthday. We can’t let her come into her powers before we have her.”

  “I’m not fighting an angel.”

“We both wouldn’t because we would be dead. You have to find her. I’ve tried to get back inside of the coven, but it looks like more wards have been put up.”

  “Who are they working with?”

“Who knows, but whoever they are, they are strong.”

  “I’ll find her.”

“Make sure that you do. Your life depends on it.”

Jeffery walked out and Analise plopped down in a chair. I need that girl. It’s the only way that I know that I can take out every person that has wronged me.

The door opened and Z walked in.

“Hey, Lee. How are you coming in finding the girl?”

“I sent Jeffrey to find her. I can’t believe she got out.”

“I told you that you should have tied her up,”

“Well, I didn’t think that I would have to tie up a girl who was unconscious.”

He walked over and pulled her to stand.

“I love you. We will find her.”

She wrapped her hands around his waist.

“We’d better. I need her. We need her.”

  “We’ll get her.”

“I’m so glad that I’ve got you.”

  “Yep. You’re a lucky girl.”

She slapped at his back and smiled. Yeah, I am lucky.

  DENISE

His fingers made their way into her hair. He gently pulled her closer and pressed his lips against hers. She sighed into his kiss and his tongue snuck out and teased her lips. He slowly backed away and peered down at her with a smirk.

  “You’re so beautiful.”

Denise smiled up into the purple eyes staring down at her. He slowly swept her shirt over her head and ran his fingertips over top of her breasts. Her skin tingled with each touch. She closed her eyes as he kissed down her neck to her chest. His tongue lightly glided across her body and she arched her back to give him more access. He worshiped her body, and she reveled in his touch. His mouth kissed lower, and his fingers found the button on her pants. As the button came apart, his hand made its way into her pants and lightly touched her. She sucked in a breath and moaned. His free hand unzipped her pants and…

Denise’s eyes snapped open, and she looked down as her hand was inside her panties. She snatched her hand away and looked around the dark room. The dream was so real, and she expected him to be sitting nearby. She looked at her fingers and groaned. Now she was horny, and she couldn’t even leave the house. She got up from bed and went downstairs to get some water. She stopped at the bathroom and washed her hands first. Just her luck, Mary, or lord forbid, Grandmother would be downstairs. She shuffled to the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge. She closed the door and juggled her water in her hands as she came face to face with a smiling Mary.

  “Couldn’t sleep?”

“Geeze! You scared the shit out of me.”

  “Your face was priceless though.”

  “What are you doing up?”

“I heard your door open. I was just making sure that you were okay.”

  “I had a dream.”

“About what? Are you okay?” Mary looked really concerned. “The only reason that I ask is that some witches have the ability to speak to you in your dreams.”

  “What about warlocks?”

“Warlocks? You dreamt of a warlock? Who?”

“Never mind. It was only a dream.”

“Aw come on! Now I want to know.”

  “No. Maybe tomorrow.”

  “You suck.”

Denise barked a laugh. “Go to bed, Mary.”

“Yeah, yeah.” As Denise was walking out Mary muttered under her breath. “Maybe I’ll look in your dreams.”

Denise kept walking. “I heard that and you’d better not!”

Mary giggled and watched her walk away.

That next morning Denise was in a daze. She had tried to go to sleep, but every time she closed her eyes, she kept seeing those purple eyes. She had no idea why she was dreaming of Logan. She had only met him once and they had barely talked. The way that he’d touched her body in her dreams was going to make it hard to have to work with him. She wasn’t sure that she was going to be able to see his face without picturing what she had seen.

Groaning, she got up from the bed and yawned. She wore her favorite pajamas which consisted of a tank top and long pajama pants with lady bugs adorning the legs. She was short so the pants dragged on the floor and made a swishing sound as she padded down the hall. The further she got to the kitchen, the more the smell of coffee hit her nose. She smiled and hurried her steps.

“I hope that you guys saved me some coffee!” she announced as she rounded the corner.

She stopped in her tracks as she saw Marcus, Logan, and Sabastian sitting at the table with Mary and her mom.

“Well, good morning sleepy head,” Mary said with a smile.

  “Uh… Good morning.”

Logan stood up and grabbed a coffee mug from the cabinet and poured some coffee into it.

  “Cream and sugar?”

Yes, I would love your cream in my sugar…

  “Um. Yes please.”

  Mar
cus coughed and almost choked on his coffee. They all looked at him questionably.

  “I’m sorry. Her aura… changed.”

Mary looked at Denise with a furrowed brow.

  “Changed how?”

Marcus coughed again and looked at Logan.

  “Never mind. It’s nothing.”

Logan gave a knowing smirk and walked the coffee to Denise. Her eyelids fluttered down as she took the coffee from his hands.

  “Thank you.”

  “You are most welcome.”

Logan walked back over to the table as Denise took her first sip.

  “Mm. This is heaven.”

Mary, Rebecca, and Marcus turned to Denise.

“What? Why are you all looking like that? The coffee is good.”

They looked at each other and smiled.

“You guys are being weird. I’m going back to my room. Come and get me if you need me.”

They watched her walk away and Lenora came into the kitchen as she passed Denise.

“Geeze, who riled her up this morning?”

  Rebecca chuckled and shrugged.

  “She just wanted her coffee.”

“Yeah, I don’t get anywhere between her and her coffee.” Lenora snickered and poured herself a cup. I guess I’ll go and calm the beast.”

They all laughed as Lenora rolled her eyes and went in search of Denise. They waited until she had walked out to talk.

“Have you told her anything?” Marcus asked Mary.

“No. I was asked not to. Her father said that he would be here for her twenty-first.”

“So, am I to assume that she in indeed an angel?” Logan asked.

  “She is.”

“And you know who her father is? Is he Tiered?”

“I’ve only met him through meditation. I’m not sure.”

“That’s a great question, Logan. Depending on where her father is from, could put an even bigger target on her back. I’ve only known Guardians and those close to God to procreate,” Marcus told them.

Mary looked at her mom, worried.

“Could you imagine, Mom? Denise’s dad being that close to God, and I’m her soul?”

  “That would be a blessing.”

“And a curse. That would be huge. Am I strong enough for that?”

She looked at each of them, and they all looked at each other. Logan reached across the table and placed a hand on hers.

“That is the reason that we are here. We were all placed on this path together, and it will take all of us to keep her safe.”

“Thank you. I’m just glad that I have all of you. I wouldn’t know what I would do without her.”

“I pray that we never have to find out,” Rebecca told her as she hugged her.

When Denise had come back downstairs later that afternoon, the house was quiet. Grandmother was in her rocking chair crocheting while her mom, Lenora, was reading a book. Lenora looked up as she saw her shadow appear in the doorway.

  “Hey, honey. You okay?”

“Yes ma’am. I’m just a little tired. These last couple of days have been draining. I sleep, but I can’t get moving. It’s like my body is rebelling against me.”

“Come and sit with me.” Lenora patted the couch next to her.

Denise walked over and sat next to her mom. Lenora put a hand on her head to feel her temperature.

“You do feel a little warm. Come on, lay down on my legs.”

Denise lay her head in her mom’s lap. Lenora began stroking her hair and Denise closed her eyes.

“That feels good. I haven’t lay like this in a long time. I miss it.”

“I know. I used to put you to bed just like this when you were little.”

They sat like that for a long while until Mary and Rebecca walked in with groceries.

“Denise? Are you okay?” Mary asked as she was walking past the room. She hurried the bags to the kitchen and came back to see about her friend. Denise smiled at her from her Mom’s lap.

“Yes. Just feeling a little tired.”

“And she has a fever.” Lenora added.

Mary placed her hand on Denise’s forehead.

  “I’ll get you some water.”

  Denise sat up.

“No, no. I’m fine. I feel okay. Just drained.”

“Well, why don’t you go and lay down and I’ll bring you some soup.”

Lenora smiled and looked at the two of them.

“You guys are so cute. Mary, you have always taken care of my baby, and I love you for that.” She looked at Denise. “You’re lucky to have a friend like her. Not many people get that in their lives.”

“I know, Mom. I’m grateful for her.”

“She’s right though. Go upstairs and lay down. I’ll be to check on you in a minute.”

“Okay. I don’t want to be sick for my birthday tomorrow.”

“Sick or not, we will still celebrate.” Lenora winked.

Denise smiled and stood up. She stood still for a second to steady herself from a dizzy spell. Mary grabbed her elbow to help.

“I’m okay. I think that I just stood to fast.”

She smiled and walked out. Mary was concerned, but she didn’t tell Denise or Lenora. She walked to the kitchen to help her Mom put away the groceries. When she got there, Rebecca was on the phone.

“Yep. She’s dizzy and hot to the touch. Should we be worried?”

Mary walked over and asked who she was speaking to and she covered the receiver and told her that she was talking to Marcus.

“Yes. I’m still here.” She listened. “Okay… Okay… Thank you.”

When she hung up, Mary was anxious to hear.

“Don’t worry. It’s normal.” Mary’s shoulders relaxed. “Marcus says that although he has never seen a female go through the change, he has heard of male bodies going through a series of hot and cold spells. Body aches and even throwing up. She is changing from human to part angel. Probably why her Dad wants to be here, to help her through.”

“I’m just glad that she will be okay.” She grabbed a bag of rice to place in the pantry and paused. “Mom? Have you ever met an angel?”

Rebecca smiled. “You’re the only angel that I know.”

Mary smiled and shook her head. “Good one, Mom.”

Denise slept the entire day and night. When she awoke, it was one in the morning. Her body was soaking wet with sweat, and it felt as if her skin was peeling from her body. She started to convulse, but she couldn’t call out for help.

  “Ahhh!”

Her throat felt like it was on fire also as she screamed. She heard banging at the door, but she could not move. Her body was shaking, and she felt as if her stomach was going to lose its contents. She was struggling to breathe and needed someone to break that door down and help her. Her hand reached out toward the door, but it was too far away.

  “Help me!” she whispered.

The room was completely black one minute and then it looked as if the sun landed in the middle of the room. She could barely open her eyes to focus on the man that appeared before her. Her heart was hammering in her chest, and she could hear Mary’s frantic voice on the outside of the door calling her name. The tall, beautiful man that was in front of her knelt down and touched her cheek. It was a touch that she should have been scared of, but it comforted her.

  “Easy my child. Just breathe.”

“Are… you an angel? Am I dying?”

His smile was even more beautiful. His light brown skin glowed in the light of the room. His eyes were a shade of yellow that she had never seen before, and his voice was like a warm blanket. It was strong yet warm.

“You are not dying. You are living. You are my seed, and you are my heir. What is mine is now yours and you shall live forever in my light.”

Denise was so weak that she couldn’t process what he was saying.

  “Please make the pain stop.”

“It will. Just close your eyes.

She didn’t know why she did as he told her to, but she closed her eyes, and he placed a hand over her heart.

  “It’s almost complete.”

Denise wanted to ask so many questions, but she was too weak. Her skin felt prickly all over and when the pain got great, she passed out.

Assan was sitting at the grand river when he felt the pull. He could feel his daughter calling for him. Her soul was crying out for the help that only he could give. He hurried from the river and to the Throne. He knelt down and placed his face to the ground. He was waiting for permission. God rarely spoke to them in words, but today he was blessed.

“Go my son. I shall give you an extra day also for she is rare and important.”

His body reverberated with each word. When Assan rose up, every angel was on their knees with their faces to the ground. It was a special day indeed if God spoke. They all looked at Assan with wonder as he passed by them to the portal that took them to earth. As he passed the lower tiers, he saw the surprise in their faces also because they too heard God. He wasn’t sure why his daughter was so special, but he just knew that he needed to be with her. He would never question God. He heard her cries, and he appeared in the room. He blocked the door with his powers and laid his eyes on the seed that he had loved from the beginning. When he touched her face, he heard the angels cry out in celebration. When she spoke to him, he closed his eyes at how rich her voice was. When she asked if she was going to die, his heart almost crushed. She was hurting, and he couldn’t ease her pain, only help her through it. He heard the pounding at the door, and knew that the humans on the other side were there for his seed, but he needed to be with her, alone.
