SYDNEY
ASSASSIN WIFE
A LITTLE GIRL TIME was what Samantha, and I needed. The past few years had been all sorts of fucked up. Pinning down a good time for all the ladies to travel was complicated. But Sam pulled it off. She created pretty pouches with the initials AW&MW. The words surrounding the initials were: alluring women and motivated wives. Of course, the real meaning of the initials were assassin wives and mob wives. A chuckle escaped my throat at the thought. Flopping on my suitcase, I forced the zipper closed.
“Are you ready?”
I peeked over my shoulder. My sexy husband stood in the doorway with a child hanging off each arm.
“Sebastian, are you sure you can take care of the kids alone?”
Caden torpedoed across the room and into my lap. “Mom, don’t leave.” His pouty lips and sad green eyes tugged at my heartstrings.
“I’ll be back before you know it. Mommy will call every day.” I kissed his almond complected cheek.
“Mommy, don’t forget.”
I embraced him tighter. “How could I ever forget the cutest man alive?” My eyes darted to Sebastian’s.
“Next to daddy’s.” I winked.
We’d been to hell and back. My less than stellar attitude toward my husband had gone into the history books as how not to treat a good man. During and after the kidnapping of our son, I placed all the blame on Sebastian. Therapy sessions soothed my untrusting heart. He wouldn’t ever put our son in harm’s way. His sick ex-girlfriend was solely at fault. But by association, I entangled the two.
He never deserved anguish and harsh words from his wife. That was where I failed him.
Sebastian loved me and our children more than anything in this world. Moving forward was my primary focus. That meant cherishing my husband and being a better wife. The kind of wife he deserved.
Our lives were full of action and adventure. Who wouldn’t want to save the world together? Four spies lived under the noses of our neighbors.
The greatest element of being a spy was blowing shit up and killing the bad guys.
“Sydney, let’s get Bella buckled into her stroller. Caden will ride with me on the golf cart.”
“Yay.” Caden ran toward Sebastian.
Resting her head on her daddy’s shoulder, Bella gripped his neck, staring through me.
“Someone’s still sleepy.” I rubbed her leg.
“Do you want to come to mommy?”
I stretched my arms.
She wallowed her mess of dark curls against his shoulder.
“Mommy’s leaving. Give her a big hug while...”
He scratched his forehead and his brows rose.
“...I grab the luggage.”
“What are you trying to say?” I tilted my head to the side.
He snickered. “Sweetheart, you ladies are going on vacation for a week.” He peered at the two large suitcases and two travel bags. “Not a month.” He glanced across the room. “Besides you’re leaving a third suitcase behind for the couples retreat.”
My eyes widened. “Sebastian, don’t forget my luggage.”
“Sydney, I won’t. That’s my point, you don’t need two suitcases for one week.”
I smirked, stood on my tippy toes, and kissed his irresistible lips. “Funny.”
Ten minutes later, I strolled down the street toward Sam’s house. I leaned over the stroller. “Wave to Daddy.”
Sebastian drove alongside us at a slow speed. Caden waved.
“Bella, look at me.”
She waved back.
“I want daddy,” she cried.
“You always have daddy, Bella.”
I placed a sippy cup in her hand. She laid back in her seat, tugging her hair. I yanked the canopy over her face, shielding her from the sun. I enjoyed pushing Bella around the neighborhood in the stroller. Caden rather walk. This was how we rolled whenever Samantha and I tra
veled together unless it rained. In that instance, Sebastian drove the short distance to Samantha and Jacobs house. I wondered if Sebastian was right. Maybe I’d gone overboard with the luggage. I mean there were seven ladies going on this trip and if we all brought a crap load of luggage would it fit on the motor coach? I’d find out later this evening.
“Sydney,” Sam yelled, pinning the three-year-old twins Madison and Hunter in front of her. If she didn’t, they’d bolt. Jacob laid on the blanket wearing a gray button-down shirt and dark jeans. Charlotte twisted in his arms with each tickle to her belly. Her cute laughter carried to the curb. I smiled.
Their butler Theo hurled Sam’s luggage into the trunk of the Black Escalade Denali. Sebastian parked the golf cart in the circular drive. He exchanged words with Theo as he arranged my luggage in the trunk, then assisted me with Bella.
“Samantha, shocked you all are in the front yard instead of the back. Our neighbors will post your pictures on social media before we land in Boston.”
“If we could get rid of the neighbors in those three houses.” She pointed.
“Samantha, don’t get any ideas,” Jacob warned.
“No, I won’t go to that extreme. It was wishful thinking. That’s all.”
“Jacob, it’s me, you, and five kids.” Sebastian threw his hands in the air.
“Buddy, we got this.” He sat up straight, kissing Charlotte’s cheek.
“I’ll help you with Maddy and Hunter daddy.”
“You’re the best big helper daddy could have.” Samantha smiled, running her hand over Charlotte’s big brown curls.
I placed my hand over my brow, shielding my eyes from the sun. “Charlotte, I agree. You got this.”
She hopped up and hugged my legs. “Thanks.” I rubbed her back.
“You’re welcome.” She sank onto the blanket next to the twins.
Bella pulled up the tray and jumped out of the stroller. I should’ve buckled her in then she couldn’t have made that mad dash to her cousin. She squeezed Maddy’s neck. Caden plopped in front of Hunter.
“I just realized, Jacob.” A chuckle rolled past my lips.
Jacob glanced at me as he stood. “What?”
“No offense, but you aren’t exactly roughing it. You have a staff.”
He waved me off and shook his head. “I’ll be the one giving them baths and reading them bedtime stories.”
“Ok, just saying.”
I raised a finger. “Oh, and Sebastian isn’t allowed to be alone with the nanny. If he needs to run an errand, he’ll bring the kids over to your house.”
Sebastian’s face flushed. “What’s the point of having a nanny?”
“To assist me.” I growled.
Jacob laughed. “Don’t worry, Sebastian, she trusts you. The women not at all.” He peeked at Samantha.
“Isn’t that right, honey?”
“Da-darn right.” She chose her words. Careful not to use profanity in front of the kids. “Sydney our men are walking sticks of candy. All the women want to take a lick.”
Jacob blushed. “Baby, can I see you in the house for a moment?”
She glanced up at him. He winked.
“Oh, no.” I cut my hand through the air. “We have to fly to the east coast ASAP, so we can arrive by five. We’re leaving now.”
He tried to take Sam into the house for a quick fuck. It was sweet, but we needed to leave.
“Yeah, yeah.” He shot me a death glare.
“Charlotte, Maddy and Hunter, I have to leave. Give mommy a big hug.” They wrapped their arms around her.
I kneeled and opened my arms. “Bella and Caden, I need your hugs before I hop into the truck.
“Mommy, don’t leave,” Bella cried.
“Yeah, mommy don’t go.” Caden squeezed my neck tighter.
My heart beat a mile a minute. “I love you two so much. We’ll talk every day.” Staring into those little sad faces brought tears to my eyes.
“Come on, guys, let mommy go. She’ll FaceTime us later.”
I swiped at their tears and kissed their cheeks.
“Gloria,” Samantha called.
She strolled out of the house. “Yes, Mrs. Latters.”
“Please watch the children.”
“Yes, of course.”
Sebastian intertwined our fingers, and we walked toward the truck.
He pulled me up into his embrace and my arms wrapped around his neck. Tears streamed down my cheeks again.
“Sweetheart, it’s only a week. I’ll talk to you later. Look at me.”
I pulled my face out of the crook of his neck. “Our lives are normal again. And I’d love to just lay in your arms all day.”
He flashed that gorgeous smile. “You know I’d love nothing more than to watch you ride my cock.” His lips took mine.
“Yes,” I moaned. Pressing my hands against his chest, I met his green-eyed gaze. “FaceTime, Sebastian. I need this girl time.”
“Who are you trying to convince me or you?”
“Bye, Sebastian. I’ll call you when we land.”
“Yup.” He gripped my waist, holding me tight. “Enjoy yourself, sweetheart.”
A smile lit my lips as I slid across the back seat. “Samantha, release Jacob’s lips and let’s get on the road. Drinking starts the second we board the plane.”
Sam climbed in beside me. Jacob stuck his head in the truck and kissed Samantha again.
“Jesus, Jacob, you act as if we all aren’t meeting up at the end of our girls’ trip.”
He pointed at me; eyebrow arched. “Hey you make sure my wife doesn’t do anything crazy, so I will see her on the couples retreat. Enjoy, ladies. And seriously stay out of trouble.”
Samantha placed her hand on her chest. “Us get into trouble. We are ladies. We don’t go looking for trouble.”
“Uh, huh, remember everyone around you two are civilians. They aren’t skilled in combat.”
Sam and I waved him off.
“You know what I mean.”
She ignored him.
“We’ll call you guys later. Need to make sure the babies haven’t taken over the house.” Samantha laughed.
Jacob slammed the door.
“Chris, we’re ready to roll.” She tapped his seat.
He drove out of the driveway. Staring out the window, I admired our perfect tree-lined street.
“Thanks, for driving Jacob and the kids while we’re away.”
He smiled. “It’s not a problem, Mrs. Latters.”
“Do you think they will make it, Sydney?”
My head dropped back. “Doubt it. They’ve probably already called their mothers.”
She slapped the leather passenger seat. “You’re right. Tomorrow they’ll have assistance. Jacob doesn’t like depending on the nanny too much, but doesn’t mind bothering his mother. He plays that grandma card.”
“I bet. That must be a man thing,” I snickered.
Chris laughed. “Jacob will hold out calling his mother for a couple of days, but she’ll definitely be here.”
We shook our heads.
“At least we know the kids will be well cared for.”
“True,” Sam grinned.

The second the wheels were off the ground and the seat belt sign turned off, Samantha and I flagged down Stacey.
“We are ready for the harsh liquor. Vodka and a splash of cranberry juice, please,” I sang.
“Coming right up.”
“We should call Nicki.” Samantha pressed a button on her cell.
“Hello, are you calling to speak with Mrs. Chandler?” A deep voice came through the speaker.
“Hello. Yes.”
“Your name?”
“Samantha Latters.”
“Please enter your personal code.”
Sam punched in a long number.
“One moment.”
“Every time you call the White House you have to utilize those steps?”
She nodded.
> “First Lady Chandler.”
“Ah!” I screamed.
“Hello?”
“Sorry, Nicki. Sydney never heard you answer the phone since you’ve occupied the White House.”
She chuckled. “Hey Syd. It’s a spectacle.”
“Hey, girl. I miss you.”
“Miss you too.”
“We wish you could have joined us on the trip,” Sam said.
“Me too.”
“Oh, maybe we can have a sleepover at the White House or Camp David.” I smiled.
“Yes!” she cackled. “That would be awesome.”
Stacey placed our drinks on the table in front of us. I mouthed, “Thank you.”
“Nicki, please tell your husband Mr. President to wait two weeks before calling us and demanding we save the world. We are on vacation.”
“Sam, I’ll tell him. But you know I don’t have any control over the special affairs business.”
“Oh, bullshit. Work that magic pussy.”
Laughter poured through the phone. “That may have worked on Senator Chandler, but there’s only so much I can do to sway President Chandler.”
Sam sighed. “Fine. I’m turning off the bat phone he gave me.”
“Now girl, you know that won’t work. A team will drop out of the sky wherever you are and collect your ass and bring you to him.”
“Ugh, why did Robert have to become the President?”
“Girl, I will hold Robert off as long as I can.”
Samantha smiled. “Thank you and love you, bestie.”
“You’re welcome, and I love y’all too. Enjoy.”
“We will, Nicki,” I chimed.
Samantha disconnected the call.
Me and Samantha tapped our glasses together, then we sipped our drinks.
CHAPTER TWO
SYDNEY
ASSASSIN WIFE
“WHAT WEAPONS DID YOU bring?” I sat back in the plush leather chair.
“Weapons? Now why would I bring weapons on a girls trip?”
I peeked out the corner of my eye at her. “You can’t lie to me. Now spill and I’ll tell you what weapons I brought.”
She gave me the once over. “Ok, if you must know.”
I raised my hand between us. “And please tell me you did not bring all dresses. You know we are going camping.”
