She sighed with pleasure at the feather-light touch of his fingers against her skin as he skillfully peeled her panties down her thighs.

“Fuck!” he growled. “You’ve been a very good girl. You should be rewarded.”

His thumb glided through her wet folds, massaging the delicate flesh up and down until he lingered over her throbbing clit, and then his mouth was over the bundle of nerves.

Lila cried out from the wicked onslaught, offering herself more eagerly for him to take his fill. She reached down and tugged a handful of his raven hair as pleasure surged through her. The sight of his head down there spilled a gush of juices in his mouth and he groaned. He didn’t give up and nipped her hard with his teeth.

  “Ah!”

His tongue became gentler, flickering over her, tightening everything inside her. She could feel the pulse in her core, and she wasn’t sure if it was only pleasure because it bordered on pain too. She threw one hand to her side, trying to grip something tangible, but there was nothing to hold on to but thin air. He created a rhythm, sucking, pulling, releasing, slurping up the juices she spilled on his tongue. He didn’t stop until she called out his name, her thighs shaking and everything inside clenched painfully until she came hard, pressing herself shamelessly into his mouth, grinding on his tongue as she gripped his hair.

After a few soft licks, he finally released her and she laid there, basking in her high, still exposed to him.

His mouth roamed further, kissing the apex of her slick thighs.

Lila’s eyes flew open, and she stared at the ceiling. It was then that she remembered they were in his office. It was broad daylight and someone might see them as the blinds of the floor to ceiling windows were opened. She tugged at his hair, and he brought his head up. She sat upright, and he captured her mouth in a deep, wet kiss.

  “Killean,” she said, breathless.

“Stay here, don’t move,” he said in an authoritarian tone.

He stopped and leaned out of her personal space. She was vividly aware of footsteps fading away, and that was when reality decided to come crashing in. What have I done? Lila closed her eyes and realized she almost gave herself over to this man on his desk in an office. She’d thoroughly enjoyed it and knew she would do it again if he offered.

At the sound of water running, she decided now would be a good time to make her escape. Oh, God, but he still had her underwear. She lay there thinking that this must have been a dream when something damp and warm was pressed between her thighs. Lila gasped and her eyes flew opened to find Killean staring down at the task, getting her cleaned up. She found this even more intimate than what they’d just done a moment ago.

“The next time we meet, I’m going to fuck you hard and deep, Lila.”

  Oh god!

When he finished, he fixed her clothes, pulling the hem of her dress over her knees.

“Where are my glasses?” she asked.

  “Right here.”

He put them on for her, and she stared right up into his eyes. His pupils were dilated with desire, and she squeezed her thighs together, as she could still feel the throbbing of her clitoris.

“This didn’t turn out the way I had planned,” she murmured, feeling self-conscious. She turned so her back was facing him to pick up her discarded purse and other belongings from the ground.

  “Lila…”

His voice sounded distant. From the corner of her eyes, she could see the frustration etched on his features. He ran his hand through his hair.

“I can’t get you out of my mind,” she heard him say. “I don’t want to be your friend.”

Lila turned to face him. Her lips felt abused, and her body was so hypersensitive now that everywhere tingled, reminding her of the power of his mouth. She thought for once in her life she would be honest with her true feelings.

“I can’t stop thinking about you, either.”

He looked at her under his dark lashes.

“But I have to go,” Lila said a moment later, as if that summed up everything.

Lila fled the office, and only when she slipped through the doors of the building did she realize he hadn’t given her underwear back. She didn’t care because she wasn’t going back. She signaled the first cab she saw and slipped in. As the cabbie took her home, the evidences of her devious afternoon was her bare butt nakedness and the low throbbing in her clit.

Turned out Killean really did have a wicked dirty mouth.

  ***

India and Ian were off to Richmond to visit his family. Lila wished someone could take her away and romance her too. Killean came to mind. I don’t do romantic gestures, Lila. He wanted to fuck her, though.

Aiden and Lila met up for a workout at the gym, after which they strolled downtown.

“What’s on your mind?” he asked.

Lila sighed. “Oh, nothing. You coming to that ball thing next week?”

“Yes, with a busty brunette.” His grin was cheeky.

Lila remembered the dinner the other night and what had passed between them, but now it seemed that he’d forgotten about it, so she would too.

“I don’t have a dress yet,” Lila murmured ruefully. But she was just worried that Killean would be there and she’d want to kiss him again or be kissed by him. She still remembered his threat clearly. The next time they meet she would be fucked. She couldn’t lie, the prospect excited her.

“Oh, I just remembered, I’ve got to pick up my tux.”

He swung his arms around her for a hug.

  “I’ll swing by later.”

Lila continued downtown, stopping at a hotdog cart. As she stood enjoying her hot meal, licking mustard and ketchup from her lips, she felt a tiny shiver run through her, and her skin literally came alive. She glanced up into two piercing green eyes.

Killean was ambling toward her, and the sight of him made her heart do somersaults. He wore a white dress shirt, the cuffs rolled up his arms, showing off strong forearms with bulging veins. What was it about men’s forearms? He sported the dress shirt with dark blue jeans and an expensive watch. His hair was slightly tousled, and he looked deliciously gorgeous.

  “Hello, Lila,” he greeted intimately.

“Hi,” she murmured, and she knew that a blush had crept up her face. There was a little smile on his lips, obviously remembering yesterday’s situation. She tore her gaze away.

“I wanted to call you.” He stared into her eyes.

Wait, after you tried to bang me on your desk and stole my underwear? What would they converse about after that office scene? How he’d like to do it again? Because deep down, she knew she liked it, liked him doing it. Her breath came short.

She looked up at him now, and he raked his fingers through his hair. She wondered what he’d been doing earlier. Naughty images crossed her mind, and she quickly dismissed them.

“Aren’t you on some errand or something? On some photo shoot for GQ?”

He chuckled. “I did that last month. Didn’t you see that issue?”

A woman who’d been waiting for her hot dog turned to leave, and he moved closer to Lila so she could pass. When she got a good look at him, her eyes widened and her lips parted. Yeah, you and me both, lady.

She wondered what he saw in her. India and Aiden were always teasing her about how clueless she was about her beauty. Aiden thought she was a “total sexy babe.” The thought made her grin. If she was a total sexy babe, what did that make Killean Knight? No one deserved to look so damn beautiful.

“What are you thinking about, looking at me like that?” he murmured. “Lila?”

He came closer and lifted his hand to her chin. His touch sent fires through her.

  “I’m fine.”

“Obviously.” He smiled salaciously. “But I see that look in your eyes and I know exactly what you’re thinking.” His thumb traced her lower lip. “Do you realize that you ran away without your panties yesterday?”

She could have curled up into a ball of embarrassment.
>
  “Walk with me?”

“Please, I don’t want to keep you from your errand.”

“Every time I break down one of your barriers, you get cold on me, and besides, it’s not anything that can’t be done later.”

It was true what her mother had said about women causing the destruction and downfall of great lands and kings. She was no femme fatale, but it seemed Killean would beg to differ.

“Why are you trying to push me away?” he asked.

The sudden question took Lila by surprise. “You only want to become acquainted with my body—”

“It’s a mouthwatering body. I thought you said dating was a waste of time.”

“I did, but I want to know who I’m sleeping with. Isn’t that fair?”

  “Fair enough,” he said reluctantly.

  “I do like a little romance once in a while. It’s a man’s key to a woman’s heart.”

He looked down at her. “How would you say I go about doing this?”

She wondered if he was just playing with her feelings, but she didn’t care. Lila divulged list of things she’d learned from just observation over the years. For a moment she thought he must be bored, but when she looked up at him, he was listening keenly.

“Does this work?” he asked, uncertain.

“I can’t tell you that. I guess you have to make a little effort and we’ll see.”

He held her gaze for a long time. “We’ll see.”

She didn’t say anything. She was too busy admiring him. She stepped out onto the busy road without even realizing that she was putting herself in grave danger. She looked up and saw a car coming in full speed to run her over. Lila was too stunned to move. Strong arms swiped out and grabbed her. She slammed against Killean’s hard body and was held there.

“Fuck! You have a death wish!”

She was cradled against him, inhaling his irresistible musky male scent. She was more than okay; she was ecstatic. The feeling made her giddy. Killean reached up and ran his fingers through her hair gently. It was distracting, and she felt like letting go of her control. He searched her face, and she eased her head back so she could see his face.

“I am going to make you mine,” he whispered.

  CHAPTER NINE

After Lila’s run-in with Killean, she felt in need of some retail therapy, so she hit Fifth Avenue for a few hours before returning home. She checked the machine for messages, finding one from Aiden’s mother. She was town and invited Lila for dinner at Aiden’s place at seven that night. Glancing at her watch, she only had an hour to get ready.

By seven, she was at the Garcias’. His father Emery was in town on his time off from working in the oil fields of Texas.

“Lila, it’s so nice to see you again.” Ella Garcia smiled as she reached for her.

  “Hey, sweet cheeks,” Aiden greeted.

She followed him into the living area, and he gave her some juice that had a hint of alcohol in it. He winked.

  “Thanks. I kissed Knight.”

  His eyes widened.

  “You don’t say.”

“It was much more fulfilling than I thought it would be, and then he wanted to know how to romance me.”

Aiden laughed. “You’re surprising me, sweet cheeks, with each passing minute.”

Lila smiled back at him and sipped her drink. It cooled her inside.

“I think I should go help Ella with the enchiladas.”

He followed her to the kitchen.

“So, Lila, have any boyfriends?” Ella asked.

She made quick glances from her son to Lila.

  “No, I’m not seeing anyone.”

  She smiled. “Aiden?”

“Yes, Mom. You asked me about it before Lila arrived,” he pointed out.

Lila lifted her palm over her lips to hide her smile.

“It slipped my mind that I did.”

“I’m sure it’s that,” he said sarcastically.

Years ago, Ella had tried to fix them up, but it never worked. He always had girls falling over him. She just never envisioned Aiden saving himself for anyone. He’d come to her room on prom night after the function telling her that Lilly Hopkins, who had a thing for him, had him bang her in his car because she couldn’t wait any longer and the other jocks were jerks. The next day she moved across the country. She always thought about Aiden and her in a more intimate way as he had too, but it just never happened. Anyway, she never knew a time when Aiden was not horny. The thought made her giggle. Both mother and son looked at her.

“Care to share the joke?” Aiden asked.

She shook her head as she prepared the piña colada Ella had insisted on. It sure would be funny to her and Aiden but not while his parents were in their company.

Dinner started off with small conversation. Ella chatted about life across the Manhattan Bridge. She had an unconditional love for Brooklyn. Aiden would look at her now and again with a cocked eyebrow. During dessert, they returned to the living area where Aiden and his dad were having a friendly rivalry as they had two different sides in the English Premier League and La Liga. Lila smiled as she watched the two of them from the window. Ella joined her.

“Always staying away, aren’t you?” she teased.

“I thought they needed some time to themselves. I have Aiden seven days a week, so I figured his father deserved this much as you guys were passing through for a visit.”

She smiled. “You know, I always thought you two would, you know?” She lifted a shoulder.

“Aiden is more like a big brother to me.”

“I’ve seen the way you two looked at each other sometimes. I’m not blind to see that he truly cares and loves you.”

“I love him too,” Lila said honestly. “But Aiden and I know each other too well to work out in a relationship, as weird as that sounds.” It was true. There were things, embarrassing things that she felt more comfortable telling him than she would contemplate telling her own mother or even India.

“I would think that was perfect,” she said. “He knows you so well and you know him too, the deepest parts. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work.”

  “It just wouldn’t.”

Lila looked at both men, and she caught Aiden looking at her. She pushed her glasses further up her nose. He knew what was going on. Lila turned her gaze back to his mother.

“I like having him in my life like this.”

She dropped the subject and looked at both men. “I never understood why Aiden decided to sit for hours just so someone could draw a needle through his skin.” She shuddered.

“Each one represents events in his life. You know that your son wasn’t much of a journal writing person, so he chose to use his arms as…canvas.”

Lila’s voice trailed off at the amused look in Ella’s eyes. She wanted to drown in her embarrassment.

She laughed. “Ah! There it goes again. You know him more than I do. I’ll go wrap up the leftovers for him.”

After another piña colada, Aiden drove her home. It was slightly cold tonight, and she would shiver now and again.

  “You cold?” he asked.

“I practically galloped out of the house, leaving my coat.”

“Here,” he said, shrugging out of his.

  “Thanks.”

“Do I know what Mom was drilling you about?”

“Oh, yeah! You know, it’s your fault that everyone thinks we’re fated. I mean I love you and all, but I don’t want to climb in bed.”

  He chuckled.

  “What?”

“You wouldn’t want to climb back out.”

  She shoved him playfully.

“Comments like those will make me kill you one day.”

  “Sorry.”

They reached the condo, and she gave him back his jacket.

  “Where’s India?”

“Richmond with Ian. She’ll be back tomorrow. Thanks for driving me.”

“I’ll see you tomorrow. If I stay any longer, my mom will think
we’re now destined.” He leaned in and brushed his lips across her forehead before he turned and left.

  ***

There were two large luxurious black boxes on the coffee table, accompanied by black roses and a crimson-colored envelope sealed with wax.

“I was wondering when you were coming home. I bought us dresses for the ball Friday!” India said excitedly. “It’s been a while since I went somewhere like this. I’m excited. Ian and I are going together.”

“Okay, nice. What’s this?” Lila gestured to the other boxes on the floor.

“Oh, those are the shoes. Come take off your dress and try them on. I made a personal stop at Saks and Henri Bendel.”

Lila glanced at the black roses with a quirked brow.

“And those came for you with the invitation and the expensive diamonds.”

Lila’s eyes widened as she grabbed the card tucked between the flowers.

I found these and I thought about us. I would like to think these flowers are an extension of myself.

  K.K.

“K.K.?” India asked over her shoulder as she picked up the velvet box. “Is that short for Kim Kardashian?” she joked.

Flipping the lid, Lila was momentarily blinded by the delicate stones that must have cost a fortune. There was another note tucked inside.

“I would love to see you in these,” Lila read out loud.

The invitation was next. It was a private party thrown by Knight Industries but at Killean’s home. What was he trying to do?

“Lila, who are those from?” India asked cautiously.

“It’s no one,” Lila muttered. “He’s a friend of mine, very enigmatic. You’d like him. I’ll just go have a shower and come back.”

She gave Lila a skeptical look but didn’t ask any more questions. Ten minutes later, Lila was back. She took the box to her room and took the cover off. The first thing she saw was the beautiful silver embroidery on the one shoulder garment. She swirled around to see the sexy dangerous cut in the back and loved it even more.
