Jilted at the altar, Cadence McCann takes her brother on her dream honeymoon to Ireland to visit the castle ruins where their parents met and fell in love. After arriving in Ireland, her brother, Carter, disappears for three days, only to return with a fantastical tale of going back in time to save the life of an Irish warrior. After being convinced Carter is telling the truth, Cadence agrees to return to the fifteenth century with him to see Moone Castle in its heyday, never guessing she'd fall fast and hard for the chief of the castle guard who is preparing to defend the castle from an invading English army bent on sacking the castle.
Donnall Healy, Moone Castle’s second in command, is instantly attracted to the fiery redhead who challenges his plan to defend the castle at every turn. Not used to a woman dabbling in what he considers a man’s responsibility, Donnall fights his attraction to Cadence while working to save his home and his people.
Cadence’s insistence that the women be trained as archers to assist in the defense of the castle against Donnall’s objections, sets them at crossed swords. When the English army arrives, will Donnall and Cadence be able to put their differences aside to work together and defend the home and the people they love, or will they lose everything, including each other?
