Push & Pull

Meredith moved her hands to my hair, tilting her head to give me access to her neck, “We should go tell your mom,” her voice was strained and breathless, “But yeah, you better deliver on that or I may have this marriage annulled.”

“Have I let you down yet?” I sucked her earlobe in my mouth and she whimpered, shaking her head, “Damn right. Now let’s go do this and get you to your party. I have another present for you too.” I kissed her one more time and dragged her into the house. Before I closed the door, she glanced back at the car one more time.

We found Ma on the back porch, watching the dogs play, “There you are,” she stood up to hug Meredith, “Briggs said you got sick this morning. Everything okay?” Ma held Meredith’s shoulders and looked her over like she expected to see a gaping wound.

“I’m fine, just a blood sugar spike.” Meredith glanced at me.

“I’m glad you’re okay. Happy Birthday,” Ma hugged Meredith again, and winked at me over her shoulder. I rubbed my chin and Ma’s eyes nearly popped out of her head when she saw my ring. She jerked Meredith back, “You got married?”

  “We did.”

Ma looked between us, “You married that idiot? You got married!” Ma grabbed Meredith’s hand, and Meredith nodded, smiling like a lottery winner, “I can’t believe you got married,” She reached for my hand and ran her thumb over my ring, “You’re moving her in here, right? Beck, you can’t leave.”

“Don’t worry, Ma. Meredith is moving in here.” I pulled her head to me and kissed it.

  “The baby?”

“The spare room next to mine will be the perfect nursery, and I gave Mere the CRV so she can get around. We’ll get her stuff moved in soon.” I assured. Ma loved having us all in the house. Only good thing my father ever did was buy Ma her dream home. Six bedrooms, a finished bonus room in the basement, and tons of yard space.

“We have room, I know that. I mean, are you ready to be a daddy?” Ma narrowed her eyes, “You can’t marry the girl and not step up, Beck.”

  Meredith swallowed, “I’d never-”

“I know, Ma. I can handle it.” I didn’t let Meredith finish her thought, “The question is, are you ready to be a grandma? That’s a lot of responsibility. A lot of spoiling goes into being a grandmother.”

“I’m so proud of you, Beck,” Ma kissed my cheek, “Tonight, Harriet and I will start planning a shower. You two are going to be late.” She hugged Meredith again and ushered us inside.

The door had barely closed when Meredith turned on me, “Don’t you dare start, Doll. You’re mine, and the baby is mine. Don’t push me on this, you won’t win.”

“Beck, you can’t just pretend to be the daddy.”

I grabbed her waist and pulled her to me roughly, “I’m not fucking pretending, Meredith. Did you think I was going to marry you and treat the baby like a bastard, like it doesn’t belong to us? Fuck, Doll. What do you not get? When is this fight gonna end?”

“I don’t want you to resent me because of how much work this is going to be. I don’t want you to feel obligated to do any of this.” Her tears started again and I kissed her head.

“I’m so sick of this same discussion, so listen. I am not fucking around about this. If you weren’t pregnant when we met, I’d have gone out of my way to get you that way so you could never leave me. I found my woman and I’m sure as shit not letting her go. I’m too old to not see the gift that literally fell in my fucking lap. Anyone asks you, there better be no question as to who that baby belongs to, got it? It’s mine.” Meredith’s lip quivered, and she nodded, “Now, drive me to your party in your new car.”

“Thank you.” She ran her nose along my jaw and kissed me.

“Don’t thank me. It’s not a favor, Doll,” I finally got her out of the house and to the car. She opened the driver’s door and picked up the envelope I left in the seat. I nodded for her to open it and she slid her finger along the seal. Her eyes moved over the test results, mouthing the words as she read. A sexy smile crossed her lips, “Let’s get this party over with so we can make this marriage binding.”

Meredith pushed me back against the car, “You knew this before you agreed to marry me.”

“Of course, I wouldn’t have agreed otherwise. Let’s go.” I got another kiss and we climbed in her new car. She turned the key I left in the ignition and smiled, putting on her seat belt. She eased out of the driveway, and turned onto the street. Unfortunately, the drive to her sister’s was too short to really enjoy her car, but she looked so happy anyway. The street was lined with cars, and balloons decorated Griff’s mailbox. Cori went all out.

Meredith and I stopped on the porch for a quick kiss, “Don’t let your Mom ruin this, Doll. Have a good time, enjoy the party.” I pushed the door open and the talking in the kitchen stopped so everyone could scream ‘Happy Birthday!’ Axel jumped from the bottom step and Meredith caught her, carrying her up the steps to say hello to everyone. Axel kissed her and ran back out to the yard. Balloons were everywhere, streamers covered every doorway and the whole place was packed with people.

Margo Wallace shoved through the crowd and stopped in front of us. Instead of a fight, she grabbed my hand and looked at my ring, then grabbed Meredith’s hand, “You two are idiots,” Margo glared at us, “Don’t you take her away from me.”

The whole room got quiet, “Never.”

“We have family dinner on Thursdays at seven,” Her dad spoke up from the kitchen, “Congratulations.”

“We’ll be there,” I put my arm around her shoulders, “And sorry I didn’t ask first. We didn’t put much planning into it.”

Her dad walked over and handed me a cup, “Meredith hardly thinks things through. Come outside with me,” I squeezed Meredith’s shoulder and left her at the mercy of the party. Allen took a seat on the wicker furniture and I sat next to him, “I hope you’re half the man for Meredith that Griffin is for Cori, or Lee is for Ari. You planning on adopting the baby?”

I shook my head, “No, I don’t,” Allen drew his eyebrows together and adjusted his posture, “I plan on signing the birth certificate. We’re married and will be when the baby’s born. Around here, that makes me the father, no matter who the sperm donor was.”

“Sounds like you did your homework,” Allen settled back, “She okay with that?”

“I’m not asking. Having Meredith means having the baby, and I want both. Once the baby gets here, I’m also making her go back to school. She’s so talented and has a lot to offer. I got my second car fixed up for her, so she can get around now, and our house is just a few blocks from here, so she’s not going anywhere.” Maybe I was kissing ass, but hell I just up and married the man’s daughter without officially meeting him or asking his permission.

“I think we can agree on her talent, and her needing a car. Do right by her, Mr. Layton.” He picked up a pipe from the table next to him and lit it with a match, taking a long puff.

“Yes, sir, I plan on it.” I left him on the porch to go find my wife and answer all the questions about getting married after five whole weeks of knowing her. I walked into the kitchen just in time to watch her prick her finger and squeeze a drop of blood onto the test strip. Her eyebrows furrowed while she stared, and when it beeped, she rolled her eyes, “Okay, Doll?”

“Still a little high,” Meredith got the black bag from the fridge and drew the clear liquid into the thin syringe. She lifted her shirt and injected the insulin into her stomach, hissing when she pressed the plunger down, “I’m just worried it will hurt the baby, ya know?”

“I know, Doll. We’ll get it evened out. Need me to go with you Monday?” She shook her head and came to snuggle into me, “I’m going to the ultrasound Thursday. I can’t wait.” I was so excited to see the baby, I could hardly stand it.

“Me too. It’ll be neat to have a name instead of calling the baby, It.” She kissed my chin and sighed.

“We can talk names more tonight, but now you need to go enjoy your party. Eat
too much food and unwrap presents.” I pulled away from her.

“I kind of want to unwrap you,” That mischievous smirk had me adjusting my fly in her sister’s kitchen, “Then I’m going to lick you all over.”

My grip on her waist tightened, “You need to stop before I find a room with a lock and make you scream so all these people know I’m fucking my wife,” Meredith pressed against me and slid her hand between us so her hand rested right over the ridge of my cock, “The only words you’re gonna remember are ‘oh my god’, and my name.”

She squeezed my cock and got close to my ear, “You talk a big game, Mr. Layton. Can you deliver?”

I laughed and bit the shell of her ear, “You are fucking killing me, Doll.”

Meredith jumped when Jovie cleared her throat next to us, “I get the newlywed thing, but damn you two, get a room.”

I had to adjust my pants again, “Sorry, but not really.”

“I need the birthday girl,” Jovie hugged Meredith, “Congrats guys.” I watched them walk out of the kitchen and calmed my shit before following them out and into the dining room.

The party went on with her opening presents, most being gift cards, and I watched from the doorway, letting her have her moment. She deserved it. With the rough morning and eventful afternoon, letting everything slide for a while was needed. We got congratulated, the kids played outside, and everyone picked at the food platters on every table. Briggs found me and propped next to me, smirking at me watching my wife. It had been years since Briggs and I were so close, I had spent years being a complete ass, but owed him my life, literally.

We sang to Meredith, ate cake, and told her parents we’d see them Thursday night. Once the party thinned out, we were left with Griffin, Cori, Briggs, and Harriet. I pulled Mere in my lap and rubbed my nose in her hair. After some conversation about how great the party was, she yawned and gave me a tired smile. I slid her from my lap, sent her to get her insulin from the fridge, and we said our goodbyes. I opened the passenger door for her and jogged around to the driver’s side to take my wife home.

  Chapter Twelve

  Meredith

Beck pulled us into the driveway and leaned over to unbuckle my seatbelt, kissing up my neck in the process. I pushed him off, jumped out and ran for the door, all the tired in my body leaving. Beck caught me near the door and I squealed when he picked me up and carried me inside. He kicked the door closed and set me on my feet on the first step, “Don’t run from me, Doll. You’re mine now.” As soon as he let me go, I tore up the stairs, using the rail to swing up to the next flight and kept running. I heard him behind me, catching up. My hand touched the handle to his roomour room, he caught me and pressed against me, wedging me against the door. His cock dug into my back, hands squeezing my hips, “What did I tell you, Doll?” I opened the door and we stumbled through.

“That I’m yours,” I toed my shoes off, shooing Sadie off the bed and out the door. Beck turned me to face him and I untucked his shirt, working the buttons. He pulled me to him by the band of my leggings, running his thumb over my bump. Beck eased them down my hips and I kicked them off. I slid the shirt from his shoulders and he pulled mine over my head, tossing it on the floor. He took care of his pants himself and left me standing there to go sit on the bed, sitting back against the headboard to watch me.

“Come here, but leave the panties on the floor,” He demanded, watching me intently. The flush started at my toes and moved all the way up, but I did what he said. I slid them off, taking my time while he stared me down, and crawled up the bed to him. Before I could get to him, he slid the boxers off and threw them toward the bathroom, leaving his cock pointed straight up, begging for me to lick it. I paused for just a second to drag my tongue over the tip, “Holy shit,” A hand tugging my hair made me stop and he turned my head to look at him, “Not yet,” I leaned up and kissed his chin. Beck grabbed my hips and lifted me to his lap, positioning a leg on either side of his hips. He snapped my bra off and tossed it too, grabbing the back of my neck to slam his mouth to mine. Our chests pressed together and all my over-sensitive parts rested right over his cock. He kissed me until neither of us could breathe and slid his hand between my legs to stroke my clit. He licked and bit at my neck, all the way down to my chest, making me hum when he sucked a nipple into his mouth. “You this wet for me?” I nodded, unable to speak, and Beck moved back up to kiss me, replacing his mouth with his hand on my breast. I moaned against his mouth, “Come for me, Doll.” Beck rolled my nipple between his fingers, sucking my lip into his mouth, and pressed his thumb against my clit harder. I fell apart. My hips rolled, shamelessly humping his hand, and rubbing against his dick, riding out my orgasm. Before I recovered or even opened my eyes, he adjusted my hips and thrust inside me, filling me completely. I screamed out, he groaned, and our mouths met again.

Neither of us moved for a full minute, chests heaving against each other, tongues dancing, and me on the brink of yet another orgasm. I tried to move, but his firm hold on my hips held me in place, “Give me a second, or this’ll be over before we get started, Doll. I’ve waited too long to not enjoy this.” He whispered against my lips, sliding his hands up to my neck to move my hair and back down.

Beck gripped my hips, lifting me off him then sliding back in, instantly hitting a spot I never knew existed, “Oh god, Beck.” He chuckled, picking up the pace and rolling my hips over him. Every thrust had me gasping and him groaning. I took over using the headboard for leverage, and his hands were all over me, palming my ass, cupping my breast. Beck kissed me, hard, bruising my lips. I’d never been on top, or really enjoyed sex at all, but loved the freedom Beck had to grope whatever he wanted, and I loved the control of setting the pace. Everything with Beck was different, and I got to keep him. He licked down my throat, sucked my nipple into his mouth, and I came again, riding out wave after wave of bliss. I let the headboard go to grab his shoulders and dig my fingers in. When my pace slowed, Beck took over, slamming into me, prolonging my orgasm.

“Fuck, Doll!” Beck growled, digging his fingers into my ass and burying his face in my neck. My nails scored his back and shoulders, while another orgasm, or maybe the same one, tore through me, sending shockwaves of ecstasy through every part of my body. His body tensed under me, and a low groan rumbled through him. I was overly aware of every tense muscle, every drop of sweat between us, and every tiny movement. We both collapsed back into the headboard panting, our foreheads resting against each other. Beck kissed along my neck, brushing my hair back from my face and shoulder, making me tremble, “I love you, Doll.”

I only hummed and nodded, not willing to move off him, and completely unable to speak. He rubbed my back, keeping me close, and whispering in my ear about waking up the same way every morning, making me breakfast, and taking care of me. When I started losing circulation to my feet, I moved to slide out of his lap, whining at the loss of him filling me, and cuddled into his side, “I love you, too,” I kissed his chest, “Tell me all about how amazing married life is.”

“It is fucking amazing. No pun intended,” He laughed, kissing my hair, “For you? Married life treating you well?”

“It is pretty awesome. My husband is super hot, I mean, he even has that really sexy V at his hips, and his face isn’t half bad either. Maybe when he hasn’t sent me into orgasm hangover, I’ll get the chance to lick all down his abs.” I giggled and a chuckle rumbled through his chest to where my head rested, “Don’t laugh at me. Orgasm hangover is a real thing. I was a little worried that I put all my eggs in one basket. I did marry him before I knew if he was as talented as he claimed.”

“I’m assuming he delivered?” Beck moved to grab the blanket at the foot of the bed.

“He did. I think I won the husband lottery,” I kissed his chest and he hugged me to him, “He’s pretty great, and he’s incredible in bed. I now fully understand sex for recreational purposes.” We relaxed in the silence, curled into each other and I spun the ring on his finger. I listen
ed to the steady cadence of his heart, wondering how the hell I got so lucky. A tear slid down my cheek to his chest and Beck rubbed my shoulder.

“What are we naming this baby?” He whispered.

  “We?”

Beck shifted under me and tipped my chin up to face him, “Yes, Doll, we.”

“I get that we’re married, but-”

“Are you fucking serious right now, Meredith?” Beck growled at me, “I thought we were done with this shit. How many times in one day can we have this conversation?” He moved out from under me completely, and a chill ran through me, “I know it just happened today, but you are my wife. You think I’m taking that lightly? This baby will be in my house, loved and supported by me,” Beck threw the blanket back and moved off the bed, snatching his boxers from the floor and slamming the bathroom door. I waited alone in the silence for him to come back, not moving from my spot in the bed. The door finally opened, and I pulled the blanket up to my chin, a little worried about his reaction, “I don’t fucking get why you keep on fighting me, Meredith. When that baby is born, you will be married to me, with me by your fucking side,” Beck started pacing, getting louder with each word, and the tears burning my eyes finally fell, “So don’t you fucking dare say that baby isn’t mine. Don’t you fucking dare put a wedge between me and that child, even in your head!”

  “I’m sorry.” I whispered.

Beck froze and jerked to look at me. His face softened, “Damn it. Doll, don’t cry,” He climbed in the bed and pulled me to his chest, “I didn’t mean to get mad. I’m so sorry. Don’t cry.”
