“Baby, you look fanfuckingtastic,” I say. “We’re taking the bike.”

  “What?”

“Fuck, woman, you look like every man’s idea of a hot biker babe, including mine. You’re what men think of when they’re having a wet dream.”

“But I’ve got stuff to take to the clubhouse!”

“Got a prospect coming by for that shit, Maxum should be here any second.” I pick up my phone and see that he’s sent me a text already letting me know he’s downstairs waiting for me. “He’s here, babe, show me what you’ve got for him to take,” I say, looking up from my phone when I speak to her. I’ve already texted him telling him to come on up.

“It’s all on the middle shelf of the fridge,” she tells me, with her hands on her hips looking like a vixen in her own right.

“I’m gonna let him in and help him take stuff down, lock up and come down...soon.”

“Two minutes, I swear it won’t be longer than that, I just need to grab my purse and phone since you two have the food.”

“Jesus!” I call out when I open the fridge, “Babe, it’s being catered, why are we taking so much shit?” I ask her as I look at several bowls of different types of food.

“We can’t go empty handed, Kade.”

“Yeah, but you’re trying to feed the entire club with all this shit.”

“I think you’re exaggerating some, it’s not that much,” she says, rolling her eyes at me. My eyes widen in surprise, her sassiness comes out more and more each day that passes, but it still shocks me and makes me hard as stone when she does. “Grab some stuff for tonight, we’re staying at the clubhouse,” I tell her. “That way, you can drink with your girls if you want and I don’t have to worry about you falling off the bike on the way home.”

“Um, what?” she asks, following me out of the bedroom. “I’m just putting this out there, but I don’t plan on drinking too much, I’ve learned a lot of lessons about not having all of my senses controlled. I like to know what’s going on around me, there’s been a few times I drank and still to this day am not sure what happened on those nights.”

  “This is different, Bridge.”

  “How exactly is that so?”

“Because this time you’ve got me and your girls watching your back. We won’t let anything happen to you, feel free to let go and enjoy yourself.” She’s coming into her own and she needs to see that you can cut loose without fear when you’re with those who care about you. Reaching out my hand, I pull her close and hug her, loving the feel of her in my arms. I lean down to place a chaste kiss on her lips, but that plan goes awry when she melts into me. “Fuck, Bridge,” I groan, pulling back. “We keep that up and we’re not getting out of here.” And I know that once everyone is there, Nan and Gino will likely make their big announcement.

“Maxum is waiting downstairs, we’ll pick this up later tonight, big boy,” she states, patting my junk in my jeans where it has made itself known.

There’s a knock on the door so I leave her where she is. “You’d better get ready, woman, I see a long night ahead of us,” I reply, giving her a wink. Opening the door, I see Maxum and quickly tell him where the stuff is that is going to the clubhouse. His eyes bulge when he opens the refrigerator, but he wisely says nothing.

“Here, I have a tote bag that I use to carry large quantities of things,” she says, handing the bag to Maxum. He unzips it and begins to place items inside, I’m surprised to see how organized he is while placing all the bowls in the bag. Once he’s ready, I grab her hand and follow him out and lock up, making sure to set the alarm. We jump on my bike and I start it while Bridge puts her helmet on. Once her legs and body are tucked firmly against my body, I take off and watch in my side mirror to see Maxum is following behind us in his truck. We’ve been cautious because those douches, the Devil’s Demons, have been around, so riding in pairs has become our norm. Granted, he’s in his truck because he’s hauling half the house to the clubhouse, but there are two of us, so we should be fine. Five minutes from the clubhouse and I notice that there’s a van following too close to Maxum for my comfort. Keeping my eye on him, I’m caught off guard by the vehicle that is blocking the road up ahead. I know in my gut that this is those gang of misfits, so I attempt to go around the vehicle only to find they’ve placed roadway spikes down. I slam on my brakes and hear the squealing tires of Maxum’s truck. I feel my woman vibrating in fear behind me, which causes me to lose my temper.

“Stay on the bike, Bridget, text Axe and tell him what’s happening,” I say handing her my phone. With her hands shaking, she grabs the phone, but I don’t look back to see if she’s doing as I asked her to. I stand in front of her in protectiveness and wait for the pussy to exit the vehicle. He doesn't disappoint and quickly comes around the front of the car.

“You have something that belongs to us, once you give her back we’ll be on our way and you can go on with your life.” Is he stupid or something?

“I have nothing that belongs to you, fucker, everything I have is mine.”

“Bridget, come here, pet,” the idiot says, and I put my hand up letting her know to stay right where she is.

“She’ll be going nowhere with you,” I state. I put my right hand behind me and grab the handle of my gun. I need to be ready to pull it at a moment's notice. There’s no way in hell he’s leaving here alive with my woman. We may not be that kind of club, but I’m that kind of man. This fucker better not push the issue or she’s gonna find out what I do that she doesn’t know about.

“They’re on their way,” Bridget whispers where only I can hear her. I nod my head in acknowledgement but never take my eyes off the fucker in front of me. I catch Maxum coming up on my side to stand shoulder to shoulder with me and I see that he’s got his hands loose, his own gun at the ready.

“Do you know who I am?” I ask the slimy fucker.

“A wanna be biker,” he says, shrugging his shoulders.

“I’m Capone, but some call me the motherfucking Godfather!”

“The Godfather is a myth that some talk about to scare people, he doesn't actually exist.” I can’t help but laugh, only it comes out snarky even to my own ears. This guy is delusional, because I guarantee you I do exist. He doesn't want to cross me.

The roar of bikes coming up behind the asshole has me grinning. My brothers have arrived and I love knowing that they got here so quickly. Behind them, I can just make out the red flashing lights of our local police. Guess Chief placed his own call. Then I hear the souped up engine purring of what I know is a tricked-out muscle car. The sound belongs to a car I know well, but never in a million years expected to come upon the scene I find myself in the middle of. I turn my head slightly to make sure that I’m correct and an evil smile crosses my face when I see not one, but all three of the Nelson brothers get out. I rub my hands together and say out loud, “Ready to dance, boys?” Atticus smiles at me, only if I didn’t know him the way I do, that smile would have me running in the other direction.

“What are you doing in this neck of the woods?” I ask him as he walks up towards me, passing the men and Maxum who were now standing behind me. Not paying attention to them, since I know Silas and Jonas are back there. I hear a bunch of cursing and howls of pain and realize that they weren’t here to mess around, they had business of their own to handle.

“We were following these fuckers,” he says pointing to the two vehicles, “but decided to hang back and see what they were up to. Now that we know they were here to mess with you, we decided to step in and let our presence be known.”

“You’ve been chasing the Devil’s Demons?” I ask, shock evident in my voice.

“Oh yeah, these fuckers have messed with the wrong people. Those particular people called on us. What are they to you?” he questions.

“They’re fucking with my old lady,” I growl out.

“When did you get an old lady?”

“That’s a discussion for another time.” Right now, my only conce
rn is getting them as far away from Bridget as I can.

Chief walks up to me and says, “Get Bridget out of here and to the clubhouse, we’ll take care of the trash.” I look over at my woman and see anger in her eyes directed at the man that informed me that she belonged to him.

“Babe, you alright?” I ask her, worried by the fierceness I see plastered on her face.

“Yeah, just peachy. I’ve got something to say, though,” she replies. “You motherfucking piece of shit! I’ve got a newsflash for you, I’d never go with you and I most certainly do not belong to you or anyone else! I’m my own fucking person, asshole. Get that through your thick fucking head.”

“What she said,” I say to the jackass with a smile a mile wide on my face.

“Yo, Atticus,” Silas calls out. “Tell them we’ve got this, our clients want to deal with them...personally. No five-oh needed.” Well, alrighty then. I look at Chief and see him shaking his head.

“Nothing to see here,” he mutters, walking back to the squad car that showed up. I can’t hear the conversation but the deputy, who never got out of his car, nods and turns off his lights before turning around and heading back in the direction he came from.

“Well, I guess we’re not needed here, boys, let’s head back to the clubhouse,” Axe calls out and circles his finger above his head, giving us direction to follow him. We all mount our bikes and do his bidding. It only takes a few minutes for us all to arrive at the clubhouse. My bike is immediately swarmed by the old ladies and Nan, who swiftly take Bridget away making me almost lose my fucking mind. The need to have her in my sight and in my arms is overwhelming. It’s something I can’t shake, so I follow behind them as we make our way into the kitchen where they hand her a glass of something that I’m assuming is loaded with liquor. I then follow them dutifully out the back door to where there is a large spread. I grab a beer as a shot is thrust in my hands.

“Thought you could use this as well,” Hatch says. I salute him and down the shot in one gulp. It hits the spot and I hand him the shot glass back. I walk over to where the women are sitting, pull Bridget up from her chair, sit down and place her in my lap. I wrap my arms around her and bury my head in between her shoulder blades. I inhale deeply, reminding myself that she’s here and safe.

“Did you just sniff me?” she asks, with laughter in her voice.

“Don’t know what you’re talking about,” I reply.

“Oh, he totally did, he sniffed your shit, woman,” DJ announces. She’s definitely a mouthy one and sometimes, I wonder how on earth Hatch deals with it. No way in hell I could have such a ballbuster around twenty-four-seven, but they work. Somehow. To each their own and all that shit. Then again, she’s loyal to a fault and protective as hell over her girls and the kids. So it balances out.

“When do we eat?” I ask, looking Nan’s way.

“Shortly, I’m waiting on Gino to let me know everything’s good to go,” Nan replies to my question.

“So, what’s this big announcement, you can tell me, Nan, I won’t tell a soul...I swear it,” using the Boy Scout symbol.

“Oh please, you were never a Boy Scout, boy, don’t try to pull the wool over my eyes. I’ve lived a few years longer than you have,” she huffs.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, woman, I was the perfect child and am now the perfect man,” I say jokingly.

“The only perfect man is…” DJ starts to say when Hatch comes up behind her.

“My name is what better come out of your lips, gorgeous,” he states, leaning close to her.

“But of course,” she purrs. I’m thinking she just saved her own ass because there’s no fucking way Hatch is the perfect man.

“That’s what I thought,” he says, capturing her lips with his. I feel like an interloper, so I move my own lips and kiss down my woman’s collar. I love my lips on any part of her body, she’s an addiction I don’t want to overcome.

“Gah, what’s with all this kissy-face shit so early in the day?” Hannah asks, coming up and plopping into a chair. I glance her way and see she’s got that glow about her that says she’s already been doing a lot more than just kissing, but I’m not giving her any shit.

“Says the woman who looks freshly-fucked,” DJ states. I knew one of the women would go there and have to bite the inside of my cheek to keep from laughing out loud. Bridget, on the other hand, bursts into giggles and soon, the rest of us are joining in, while Hannah’s face gets redder and redder.

“What are y’all doing to our woman?” Smokey asks walking up to our group. “Why’re you so red, baby?” His question has her blushing even more, something that I wouldn’t think could be possible.

“We called her out on getting laid,” DJ replies, as if it’s a stupid question he just asked.

“Oh well, a spade is a spade,” he says, waving his hand around with a smile that states he’s proud to let everyone know his woman is well-satisfied.

“Dinner is ready!” Gino hollers out as he comes and helps Nan up from her chair.

“Good, I’m starved!” Bridge says, jumping up from my lap and ‘accidentally’ hitting me where the sun don’t shine. I lose my breath and lean over to hold my junk. Fuck that hurt. I won’t be getting up from my seated position anytime soon.

“Oh no, what did I do? Are you okay?” She leans down and kisses the top of my head.

“He’ll be fine, just suck on it later,” Smokey deadpans. I shoot him the bird with the hand not holding onto my dick, only to see Emma walk by. Fuck, now she’s gonna be flipping people off! Law’s gonna kill me. I think I’ll blame Smokey. He’s the normal fall guy, and everyone just believes he’s at fault whether he is or not, so I know I can get away with pointing my finger his way.

“Who taught her that?” Law says, seeing Emma with both middle fingers waving in the air, a grin on her face. We all point at Smokey, who hangs his head. He knows what’s coming. “Hit the jar, man. Ya might not have said it, but now I’ll have to explain to my old lady why Emma’s new trick is flipping folks off.”

Not feeling too bad, I experimentally stand. Hopefully, by the end of the night, I’ll feel better because I had plans for my woman and they didn’t include sleeping. Well, not much anyhow. I pull out my wallet and grab a twenty and pass it to Law, saying, “Toss it in the jar. I’m sure I’ll say something today that she’ll overhear.” There, my guilt somewhat assuaged, I take Bridget’s hand and walk toward the food.

“I’m so sorry,” she says as we make our way towards the buffet line.

“Did you do it on purpose?” I ask her.

“Well, no, of course not, it was solely an accident, I swear it.”

“Then no apology is needed, sweetheart. C’mon, let’s eat.” Fuck, Gino knows his stuff and I mentally add another thirty minutes to one of my workouts this week. Once we’re all seated at the picnic benches, conversations flow...along with drinks. The earlier events of the day are all but forgotten, for now. Once we’ve all digested our food, I see Gino grab Nan’s hand and he escorts her to the head of the group.

“We have an announcement to make, and I hope you are all as happy for us as we are for ourselves,” Gino begins.

“We’re engaged!” Nan yells out, holding up her left finger for us all to see the gigantuous rock that she’s sporting. How the fuck did we all miss it throughout the night? The women all jump up and cheer and swarm Nan. Gino looks a little pale as he looks Axe’s way. Axe leans back in his chair, waiting for the masses to descend from his mom before he gets up and walks over to her.

“I’m so happy for you, Mom. Gino’s a good man, I hope for nothing but happiness for the two of you.” Nan pulls Axe into her arms and she’s crying into his shoulder.

“I love you, son,” she sobs.

“Love you too, Mom.” Axe walks over and pulls Gino into a man hug. I think the guys and I were all on standby in case we needed to soothe things over with our president.

I walk over to Gino and say, “Take
care of her, treat her right, or you have a lot of men to answer to.”

“I’d never disrespect her or treat her poorly,” he tells me, and I believe what he says, because he knows we’ll all kick his ass if he doesn't keep his word. Nan is not only the matriarch of the club, but she’s our pseudo mom as well.

“Bachelorette party!” DJ screams and glasses are raised by the women, and plans begin to ensue. Lord help us, I have a feeling that we’ll all be getting our women out of some type of jam that night. When they all get together, it’s as if trouble has a way of finding them. But then, how much trouble can they get into when several are pregnant?

Never mind, I don’t want to know, because nothing slows these women down.

  Bridget

We’re staying at the clubhouse tonight which is good because whatever’s in those margaritas packs a punch and there’s no way I’d be able to hold onto Kade during the ride home. Now ensconced in his room, I ask, “What happened to those guys?” It’s been bothering me all afternoon, and I tried to drown out the questions with alcohol.

“If you’re still thinking, I’m not doing this right,” he says, as he kisses his way down my stomach.

“You’re doing fine, but it’s something that’s been weighing on my mind. Until I have the answers, my mind won’t shut down,” I huskily reply.

“Babe, they’re being taken care of, I can’t tell you what fate lies ahead of them...but I promise you, it’s not going to be pretty.”

“Will I still have to worry about them coming after me?”

“Those particular men, no sweetness, not ever. I can’t tell you much, but those men who took them will never let them walk the earth again, that’s a guarantee.”

I don’t know how to feel about his words. I mean, he’s saying that they’re going to kill them and for some reason, that bothers me. On the other hand, they wanted to take me and put me ‘back to work’ for them, so there’s that to consider as well. Never again will I allow someone to treat me as if I was a commodity.
