Angelite is a type of celestite that forms over thousands of years of being under tremendous pressure. Typically, you’ll find this light blue-gray stone as a polished rounded rock, but you may also find slices of it. The stone has white striations throughout, particularly in the cross-sections.

  Apache Tears

  Apache tears are smoothly rounded pieces of obsidian, which is a type of dark volcanic glass. They are warm and smooth to the touch and translucent when held up to a light source. They are reasonably soft and may scratch easily, so you might want to keep them wrapped in a cloth and away from direct contact with other stones. Don’t use water or salt to cleanse this crystal.

  Apatite

  Apatite is a phosphate mineral. It is typically blue, although you can find it in other colors, such as yellow, but that is fairly rare. It is a brittle stone, so it may break easily if you drop it. For this reason, treat apatite with care and use caution when it is in contact with other stones.

  Aquamarine

  This crystal has the name and the color of the ocean, and sailors used it for centuries to promote safe sea journeys and prevent drowning. Aquamarine is a variety of beryl, and it is often used to make beautiful gemstone jewelry, prized for its stunning blue-green color.

  Aragonite

  This stone is a crystalline form of calcium carbonate, which also occurs in coral, limestone, and other rock formations. It is named after the village of Molina de Aragon in Spain. It is a relatively soft mineral, so care must be taken to prevent damage. Don’t use water or salt to cleanse this crystal.

  Aventurine

  A lovely royal blue color, possibly tinged with gray, blue aventurine also contains quartz inclusions. The name aventurine comes from the term “aventurescence,” an optical effect seen in stones with a highly reflective surface.

  Green aventurine has a bright green color with white and/or gray banding. The crystal is opaque with a luster to it. It is a form of quartz, and the green color comes from fuchsite.

  Azurite

  As the name suggests, azurite is a beautiful deep blue (azure) crystal containing flecks of gold, green, or yellow. It is a relatively soft crystal, so you need to take care when you carry it or use it with other stones, to avoid damage. It is often found within copper deposits and may be a rough stone or a polished crystal.

  Also known as heliotrope, bloodstone is so named because it is believed to help purify the blood and fight blood disorders. The stone is green with red flecks and is actually chalcedony flecked with iron oxide. The combination of colors makes it a good stone when you are working with the root and heart chakras together.

  Boji Stones

  Boji Stones aren’t much to look at, but many people feel they are powerful crystals. They are rounded brown to gray rocks, typically pyrite and marcasite, with a rough or smooth surface, and they always come in pairs that consist of a male and a female stone. The name Boji Stone is a trademarked name; you may also find these stones under the name Kansas Pop Rocks.

  Blue is one of the many colors of calcite, a stone formed from calcium carbonate. The surface of calcite looks almost chalky, and the blue color tends to be grayish blue. All colors of calcite are relatively soft, so you need to take care when using them around other stones or carrying them in a pocket. Don’t use water or salt to cleanse this crystal.

  Light pink to peach in color, mangano calcite is also known as pink calcite. The stone is opaque with a waxy finish in the rough state and a smooth, shiny finish for the tumbled stones. It has white striations and bands throughout.
