  Xavion and Xander stood by my side with Elder Locklear. The women decorated the back of the house nicely. They had chairs set up side by side. We had to walk on the side of the stairs. We didn’t want the chairs to separate our families. We wanted them to sit together as one. Xavion and Josh made a wooden arch wrapped in vines and camellias of all colors. We were doing the traditional ceremony. I had on linen pants with no shirt or shoes. All of my tribal tattoos were showing brightly under the moonlight. My hair was pulled away from my face, so that my Queen could see my face and look into my eyes when I say my truth. Ma sat on the front row with Ginell. Nico sat on the second row with Ms. Robin and Queen’s brother’s wives.

  I felt the wind picking up and knew that Nesida and Aunt Lurita were present. Everyone that we loved was there, besides Matteo. But I was going to make that up to her, somehow. Xavion nudged me in my back. “Can you please try to hold out until the end of the ceremony?” He whispered to me. I looked back and frowned at him.

  “I can control myself, nigga. What you talking about?” I told him. They both started laughing like I said a joke or some shit.

  “Nigga, please. You already over here growling and shit. Queen didn’t make it out the house yet.” Xander replied. I looked at Elder Locklear and he nodded his head. Shit. I didn’t know I was growling. I was trying to stay cool knowing that my daughter and Ma will be sitting in the front row. But, come on bruh? How much restraint did they expect me to have? I haven’t had my Queen for months. I looked up hearing the door open. Jess walked out with the rest of the girls. Xavion’s ass growled behind me.

  “Who can’t hold themselves together?” I mumbled.

  “Shut up, Xavier.” That fool growled. I couldn’t blame him. The moon was out and we were already hyped up for the battle tomorrow. Loreen and Jess were going to get pregnant tonight. I heard Ma gasped and glance back at the door. Maxwell was walking Xoey out. Xoey was looking more and more like her mother each day. She walked up to me and gave me a kiss.

  “Proud of you, Daddy.” She said.

  “Thank you, Princess.” I told her. Maxwell dapped me off and pulled me into a hug.

  “I know I don’t need to say it, but I wouldn’t be a brother if I didn’t. Take care of my sister.” He told me. I nodded my head.

  “You know I will.” I replied. He turned around and saw her approaching us with Dom and Josh. He stepped back and watched my reaction to seeing Queen. Beautiful wasn’t the word to describe her. She was more than that. The fit and color of her dress played on her skin and body. She still had the baby weight on her and I hoped she kept it. Her hips were wider and thighs were thicker.

  The moonlight had her body glowing. It shined down on to her, like it knew that she was the Queen. I was trying to calm the wolf down inside of me, but he was pacing. He needed to be with his mate. It was ready to claim her in every way possible. And there would be no removing our mark. I was planning on biting her so deep that she wouldn’t think to do shit like that again. I felt my teeth growing out and my fur was itching to come out. I felt the growl coming out of my throat, readying itself to escape my mouth.

  “Oh, shit.” I heard someone say behind me. But, I was too far gone.

  “Xavier, please.” Ma said. I shook my head and tried to remain in control. I looked up into Queen’s bright hazel eyes. She licked her lips and I lost it. Xavion grabbed my arm when I took an involuntary step forward. I yanked my arm from him and snatched Queen from Nick and Josh. I picked her up bridal style and ran into the woods. I heard my brothers howling behind me.

  Once we got to a suitable spot near the lake, I placed her on her feet and ripped that dress from her body. She stood before me naked and ready. Her hazel eyes were on me. She bowed her head and waited for my next command. She was surrendering to me. I growled and pushed her body to the tree. I kneeled before my Queen and stared at my favorite snack. I could see her precious pearl through her juicy lips. I licked it with my heavy tongue and got even hungrier. I placed both of her legs on my shoulders and stood. I took her pearl in my mouth and began to suck on it.

  “Mmm, Alpha. Please don’t stop.” She moaned out.

  I wasn’t planning on stopping until I drained her of all her juices. She was digging her growing claws in my hair. The animals in the woods began to get quieter with every moan that escaped her mouth. Her legs got tightened up and she howled out to the moon. She looked down at me with pure love and lust in her eyes. I tore my pants off and pulled her down on my aching dick.

  We both moaned at the feeling. I knew that I should have gone a little slower but I couldn’t. Her wolf was calling out to me. I grabbed her waist and began to bounce her up and down hard. Her claws were scratching my back, while mine were digging into her skin. She grabbed my face and began to rotate on my shit. I stared up at her and saw that her attention was set on my shoulder. Her mouth was opened slightly, showing off her wolf teeth. I leaned my neck to the side and gave her the permission to mark me. She stretched hers out to do the same. Once we were almost to our peak, we bit into each other’s shoulder. Everything that Queen has been through, I saw through her memories. I saw what happened when she was a child, and how she consumed her mother’s magic. Her life with her Aunt and friends were all on display. I pulled back and howled.

  Our brothers responded by howling back at us. Queen shook her head at me. “You couldn’t wait.” She asked.

  “You are lucky that they were able to set up for it.” I said truthfully. I kissed her on the lips and walked her over to the lake. I knew that she needed to soak in hot water but I wasn’t planning on going back to the house tonight. I stepped into the cold water with my Queen in my arms. “Brace yourself, “ I told her and placed both of our bodies in the cold ass water.

  “This water is too cold for this shit, Alpha.” She said. I moved my hands down to her plump ass and squeezed.

  “It won’t be cool for long.” I told her. She smiled at me and placed her hand on her mark.

  “I feel so connected with you. I felt how you were feeling when I disappeared. The way you were treated by your father when you brought my name up. I am sorry that you and your brothers suffered like that.” She said.

  “Don’t worry about that now. That is in the past. I wouldn’t change none of that if this is where it would lead me. To my better half. My mate. My Queen.” I told her. “Queen, about tomorrow,” I tried to talk to her but she shook her head and interrupted me.

  She looked into my eyes and stared. “I, Patience Black, will give all that I am to you, Alpha Xavier King. I will be your moon during the day and your stars to guide you home. I will follow your lead and trust your word. I will keep my womb filled with your sons and daughters to carry on our legacy. I am yours, Alpha Xavier King.” She spoke her truth.

  I placed my hand on her shoulder where my mark was. “I, “Alpha Xavier King, will give all that I am to the Queen of the Guardians, Patience Black. I will be your moon during the day and your stars to guide you home. I will lead with you by my side and we both will be examples to the pack of men and women. I will keep your womb filled with our sons and daughter to carry on our legacy. I am forever yours, Queen Patience Black.” I said to her. The trees around us began to bend and the stars aligned in the sky to our direction. The moon smiled down on us and gave us its blessing. “I love you, Queen,” I said before sliding back inside her.

  She gasped and dropped her head back. “I love you, Alpha.”

  The next morning, we all met up in front of the house. Our brothers kissed their mates and told them to be safe. I knew that Nick left Treasure with instructions on what to do if he didn’t return. That was a conversation that I never wanted to have with Queen. It was sad that we had to have one with Xoey. She was standing next to Maxi talking to him. He nodded and squatted down to meet her at eye level.

  “I will see you later.” He told her. She wrapped her arms around his neck and held on to him tightly. His arms went around her small body. He lifted her up and kis
sed her on the cheek. She kissed him on his nose.

  “Everything is going to be alright.” She said to him. He put her down and began to talk to Nylah.

  “Please don’t eat the heart of Ma’vere. We will find another way to kill him.” Nylah told him.

  “I already told you what it was. Please don’t bring this shit up now.” He told her and grabbed her face. Dom and I already said that we were going to get the heart and force feed it to Nyles and Kovan. All we needed is for Maxi to yank that shit out of his body. Xoey walked to us and smiled. She did that shit a lot.

  “Xoey, we have to talk.” Queen started off. Xoey shook her head no.

  “We can talk when you get back, Mommy.” She said maturely. Queen looked at me to intervene.

  “Xoey, we need you to know how much we love you. And that if anything happens to us, we need you to go to the safe house in Florida with Nico and your Aunts.” I said.

  “Ok, Daddy. I promise to leave if anything happens to you or mother.” She said. Queen rolled her eyes and pulled Xoey into her arms.

  “You are a mess,” She told her. Xoey hugged her Queen lightly and walked over to me.

  “Daddy, everything is going to be alright.” She told me. I bent down and she kissed me on my forehead. “Just keep your mind open to me, ok.” She asked.

  “Ok, Princess. Go into the house with Nanna. Help Nico protect them.” I told her. She smiled and ran off to my mother. Ginell stood with Tyree in her battle gear. It was a long dress and combat boots. I was about to comment on it, but Queen stopped me with a look. That didn’t stop Maxwell.

  “Mimi, where are you going with that dress?” He asked her. She told us all to start calling her that. She consider us all as her grandbabies.

  “This may be our last dance, Matteo and I.” She said and grabbed her dress. “I thought that I would dress for the occasion.” She whispered and looked at Queen. Queen smiled and got in the middle of the circle with Tyree. We all circled around them and got ready to be transported.

  “Everybody get ready.” Tyree said. We all took in deep breaths and waited with our eyes closed.

  “AHHHHHHH,” Xavion screamed. I opened my eyes and saw him tearing the clothes off his body. “This shit burns. It fucking burns.” He yelled. I grabbed his arm and it was cold as ice. He struggled with me and Xander trying to get his arms lose. Once they were, he grabbed at his skin and started scratching it.

  “Xavion, chill out. Tell us what’s wrong.” I asked him.

  “My skin, X. The shit burns. Get it off of me.” He yelled. Loreen and Ma heard him yelling and ran outside. Loreen reached him and put her hand on his face. His skin started falling off. “Noooo! Get the fuck away from me. Don’t touch me, Bitch.” He said and pushed Loreen away from him. She flew a few steps back and landed on the ground.

  “Xavion!” Ma yelled.

  Mimi stepped forward and held her hand out. Xavion’s body stretched out on the ground with no one holding him down. He was still screaming in agony. Mimi kneeled next to him and placed her hand on his chest. “Calm yourself Grandson.” She told him. Xavion’s head moved from left to right. Mimi grabbed it and forced him to look at her. “Show yourself.”

  Xavion’s head moved from left to right, trying to avoid Mimi’s touch. It didn’t look like she was holding it tight. His eyes began to leak blood when he looked up at her. “Get your hand off of him, you old bitch.” A woman’s voice spoke through Xavion’s lips.

  “Oh, Eve. Your mother must have not warned you about me. About us.” The s dragged from Mimi’s lips. Queen walked over to her and looked down into Xavion’s eyes. Her red eyes were bright.

  “Get the fuck away from me. You will never have him. He. Is. Mine.” The voice yelled. Queen leaned over and placed her hand on his chest.

  “He will never be yours. And your days are now marked, Priestess.” Queen growled and pressed down on Xavion’s chest.

  “You will not win, Queen. Your days are marked by Lord Odom. And when he feeds your family to Ma’vere, I will be in the front seat watching.” She spat.

  Mimi squeezed his face tightly. “How will you watch, Eve. When you don’t have any eyes.” Mimi responded with her eyes going black. Xavion yelled out again and closed his eyes. Mimi placed her hand on his head and rubbed. Xavion stopped moving. Xander and I dropped to our knees with Ma to see if he was ok. His breathing wasn’t steady.

  “I had to put his mind asleep.” Mimi said.

  “Is he going to be alright?” Loreen asked standing away from him. Mimi looked back at her and nodded her head.

  “If he stays asleep, yes. We will have to kill Eve to break this curse. We will deal with this after the battle. Right now, he needs to be in this state.” She explained.

  “I’ll bring him inside. You guys go on and take care of business.” Nico said and picked Xavion up. When he passed Loreen, she jumped out of the way, trying not to touch him.

  “Let’s get this shit over with so that we can deal with that bitch.” I said. We formed the circle around the Guardians. The air got thick and there was static electricity everywhere. We tried to create the biggest interference in the air, so that Matteo and Odom would feel it.

  “Now,” Tyree said and we all transported back to Louisiana near the bayou. We hoped that no one was out here. I looked over to Queen and her eyes were closed. I grabbed her hand and squeezed it.

  “Queen,” I called out to her. She looked at me with hazel eyes. “Stay with me.” I told her and kissed her hand. She turned her head and continued looking forward.

  Three minutes later, the static electricity zipped through the air in front of us. Bisons replaced the empty space before us. Then there were vampires and Dark Guardians. Hector and the other vampires that came with him was amongst them. He looked sloppy. His skin was burned and his eyes were pale white. He was staring at us with no soul in his eyes. They all were.

  Five other people appeared in front of the gang. Ma’vere stood on the right of Odom, while Matteo was on his left. The two demons were on opposite ends of each other. Ma’vere has been eating the entire week. We didn’t know what type of magic or powers he possessed. Ma’vere sniffed the air and looked at Maxwell and smiled. Maxwell was about to step forward but Nylah stopped him. Ma’vere made eye contact and frowned at her.

  “My own fucking blood turned against me. What has this world come to?” He said in a mild voice. He was standing with a red long coat and some tight ass black leather pants with no shirt.

  “You are no blood of mine, Ma’vere. And I will show you when my knife pierces your black heart.” Nylah hissed.

  He began to laugh. “And I will pull the knife out and slit your throat with it.”

  Maxwell let out a fierce growl and began to shift.

  “Not now, Maxi,” Queen spoke. Ma’vere’s eyes landed on hers now, and I couldn’t hold the growl back if I wanted to.

  “So, this is the Queen that you promised me.” Ma’vere said to Odom.

  “No, she is not the one.” Odom answered and pointed to Mimi. “That’s the one you want.” Mimi smiled at him and waved.

  “I don’t think that we came here to talk, Brother. Clearly, we are way pass the talking stage. Let’s get this battle on the road shall we.” Mimi said and raised her arm up. The trees began to come out of the ground. She swiped her hand to the right and the trees started batting the heads off the Bisons. Their heads rolled in front of us and all over the woods. Mimi blew out a small breath and set the heads on fire.

  “Alright, Mimi.” Queen said and smirked at her.

  “I see that you still got it,” Odom said with the Book of Dark Spells in his hand. “Let’s see how your magic would work on your babies’ father.” Matteo stepped forward with his eyes on Mimi.

  “I wouldn’t want to face me either, Brother. You do remember what happened the last time we battled.” Mimi told him.

  “I don’t have time to show you how to use the magic that you stole
from me, Nell. I just thought that you needed a personal tutor.” He said and set his eyes on Queen. “But I’ll be happy to show you some tricks. Queen. Right after I get my hands on your daughter. She will be all that I need to get what I want.”

  “You are so fucking stupid. You really think that she is an easier target for you to kill.” Mimi giggled some more. “Her mate or her brothers won’t let that happen. I won’t let that happen.” She said in a more serious voice. Odom smiled and turned his head to the demon on his left.

  “Now,” he mumbled. The demon’s eyes began to glow green and the vampires along with the Dark Guardians began to charge at us. Queen took a step ahead of us and threw her arms out. Two portals from each side opened up. Our wolves came running through one, with Nyles and the vampires running out the other. They attacked them from the sides. The Dark Guardians tried to still the wolves, but Mimi made a potion to block out that spell. Errol came through and took off one of the vampires’ heads and spat it at a Dark Guardian’s face.

  The demon Nedja moved in the crowd and transformed into one of the wolves. Xander and Josh moved forward to deal with him. Tyree pulled out his lightning bolt and threw it through the crowd. He hit ten people. He teleported to where it hit the last person, caught it and began swinging it at the vampires.

  “Matteo,” Mimi called out. He looked at her and snarled. “May I have this dance?” She asked. Matteo appeared in front of her and tried to grab her. Mimi transported to the other side of the woods and Matteo followed her like we knew he would. Xavier and I had to kill Octavine while Nylah and Maxi dealt with Ma’vere. I looked over to my Queen and her eyes were flashing red and white.

  “Don’t hold back.” I told her. She smirked at me and teleported to Odom. He was surprised at what he was seeing but didn’t let that distract him from the black ball that was going to his face. Ma’vere tried to grab her but Maxwell was there in seconds stinging his ass. Other Dark Guardians were trying to keep Queen occupied but we knew that they were about to die.
